Sender can of course see the payment and can follow it wherever it goes from there.
Other observers just see donators sending funds to an unknown address randomly. Avoid asking for fixed amounts because you can always guestimate based on amounts.
When/if you spend funds together, you WILL reveal the connection to everyone's payments and COMPLETELY break sender privacy, putting your donors at risk. You MUST coin-join them first to avoid this.
Imagine a donor is known to be a supporter of yours. I track his payments and see one that looks like a donation based on amount, I send a donation myself around the same time. I later see a coin-join with both our payments. How many of those inputs could have also been donations that I could trace back to other identities? Is it finite enough to pursue?
It isn't perfect, Lightning is better IMO for private donations.
It could still hide a lot of your donations. Imagine you receive £1M over 1 mo from many small donations. Maybe we track known donors, but you only use money as you need it so we can't see everything.
It is only when you move donations that we can see anything useful and even then, only if you do something silly like consolidate them without coin-join and then withdraw it from coinbase.
It certainly isn't perfect, but it does feel more like cash-like privacy where it is inconvenient to track people and often fruitless, but if you are highly motivated, there will be breadcrumbs.
AFAIK, you must run a node to receive donations privately this way, I may be wrong about that, but you need to scan and query the blockchain quite intensively to find your payments because there is no XPUB afaik.

Sure, my feedback so far is:
1. If you can, be upfront about delivery options per product so I don't need to add to cart and register in order to find out.
2. Consider a no registration flow, Bitcoiners don't like to see their data such as email, address, name, order history, stored on someone else's servers when they don't need to be. In fact if things like address could be e2e encrypted with the merchant, that would be awesome. Not exactly a standard feature but very common on decentralised and privacy preserving platforms.
Also, different people have different visions of what decentralisation provides. What does it mean to you?

What do you envision. Typically you share something and people stop looking at it as it dissapears over time. This is natural on Nostr.
Instagram has an advantage of providing access control: only certain people can see it.
That gives the time element a bit more exclusivisity.
Also, since cryptography has no concept of time, this is the only way to do this but nostr is a cryptographic protocol, not a man gated platform.
We can create clients that simulate the behaviour which is probably what whatsapp does. It could allow you to set an expiry date and clients will ignore the post after that.

Today, hot smartphone wallets save your private keys in the secure element at rest, but pull it out to sign in the normal environment where malware can get access to it.
This is necessary because these secure chips can't do secp256k1 natively.
So I know private keys can't be kept locked in your phone's secure element today, but your phone CAN do challenge response with other cryptographic algos.
I'm just thinking out loud, but with taproot, can't we create addresses that use another algo that is not secp256k1 to embed a challenge into the spending conditions for your address that the smartphone CAN protect and sign with securely?
This way we have funds in a wallet that is a bit better than hot. It is in a secure element which is used to secure other things like your password manager and other things.
Possibly then we can also create modified XPUBs using your private key's public key and this other pubic key that relates to the secret used by your phone.
Overall, I'm thinking a new type of wallet that has 2 keys: your bitcoin key, and an adaptor key. You need both to spend funds, the algorithms are all standard public ones, we get the assurance that secp256k1 provides that it isn't secured by a potentially compromised NIST algo, but also the convenience that it is partially secured by a NIST algo that popular smartphones can secure.
Is this possible or a dumb idea?

Nostr looks like a small town, but it's a whole country. Using filters and blocks and other tools will help you see the forrest for the trees.
I think https://www.nos.social/ has been touted as a safe place on nostr, but I haven't used it myself.
Regarding Odell saying "stay humble stack sats", I mean, someone yells something into the wind and you take it personally, I think that's all you.
If you were here first, you might have complained that no one is here, but instead you're complaining that the people here are one type of crowd.
A crowd doesn't diversify by itself, we need people to bring their friends, build communities and then those communities will naturally blend and build walls where necessary.

Hmm, technically the BitKey is much more complex behind the scenes but I know what you mean.
The "setup" is done for you and you get a wallet on your phone without dealing with keys, seed words, xpubs etc. This is the benefit of using an opinionated product: you don't need to make decisions... but most Bitcoiners appreciate optionality because the whole space is constantly changing and we want to test and play with it all.
But then again, here is how I see your situation: the order of steps in your description was not ideal so here's my take:
1. Set up the ColdCard (as you have done already).
2. Go to export your wallet and choose the QR Code option instead of export to file. (See https://coldcard.com/docs/q-quick/#export-wallet)
3. On Sparrow, click File > Import Wallet
4. Click the Scan button near ColdCard
5. Present the ColdCard device to the webcam.
6. Follow instructions to complete setup on Sparrow.
By now you have linked the device and Sparrow without using SD Cards and making too many decisions like "did I pick the right file?".
Now you can generate an address, copy it and paste into the site I linked above and buy Bitcoin.

FYI even BitKey uses third party services to buy Bitcoin, it lets you choose between Coinbase and Moonpay if I recall and you need to register with whichever one you choose.
If this doesn't simplify it enough for you, you need the BitKey, I don't know any other product in the market that is opinionated like that.
I think in the past they existed, but they were either unpopular or hard to maintain technically. Maybe it was also to do with the changing landscape of regulations. Now apps try to stick to being wallets, and tried to be less opinionated about subjective things like "which company should I buy Bitcoin from?"

This is completely untrue. The very first implementation of direct messaging was heavily critisized but it had end to end (e2e) encryption which is the minimum it should have.
This means no one but the intended recipients could read the messages, and no url manipulation could change this. Only how you handle your nsec, if you expose or leak that data, could compromise your private messages.
This is one of the things that was criticised, as well as how much metadata could be extracted, anyone could see "who was talking to who" and "when" and potentially get a rough idea of "how long those messages were".
This is much less information than that which staff at X potentially has access to. They can actually read the messages, the difference is that they reportedly keep that data private.
Being able to have private communications online across public infrastructure, not relying on false promises by companies and without unintended consequences such as leaking who you are talking to is the dream, and no one but #Nostr devs are working on this because #Nostr provides a public infrastructure to build for that isn't just "the internet" that doesn't require everyone to run a server. This has brought new life to these idealistic goals.
I think we are very close to getting almost everything we want, but we don't yet have the dream DM solution. We have a good solution that many nostr clients support called "gift wrapped messages", but I am most excited on an implenentation that builds on top of the Signal (yes the e2e messaging app) technology. It will provide much more security and privacy and even allow for private group messaging.
Btw, I don't know any client that supports private group chat, but I would be very cautious about how it worked.

#Nostr isn't a chat platform, many people think DMs should never have been tried, but it was tried, it serves a purpose but it isn't as fit for whistleblowers and humanitarians. Btw, X has never been fit for them either.
The fact that it existed meant people debated it and now we are getting something better. That something better will be probed and tested and it will be improved constantly as we discover problems over time.
1. Don't use #NOSTR for DMs, it was never its primary purpose anyway.
2. Don't use X for it either, it is actually worse.
3. Use Signal or SimpleX for chat, if you want to use Nostr as your contact list, then look into 0xChat or KeyChat for Nostr as more security focused applications.
4. #Nostr actually has a chance of being the base of the most secure and useful DM/Chat protocol we have ever had. Support that. For yourself and for people who have never had this type of tool but are living in dystopian nightmares today.
5. We have only just begun.

I recently discovered this. Under permissions you can create an "app" and you get an nsecbunker url that you can use once.
Once the website has connected, it will communicate with your Amber remotely.
You may need to enable internet for Amber as I had to on Graphene OS. Amber doesn't need internet to sign for Amethyst, but it does for remote signing.

Not sure, there are some Monero supporters that created their own clients that zap monero.
They are still on nostr, we still see their posts, they still see ours, but I think we just can't zap each other because one only pays and accepts in btc, the other only in monero.

I don't spend any time looking at BCH, but I would imagine that mining is fairly centralised, so I'm curious if that is the case and if so, why forks would happen so often?
My initial guess is that there are dominant miners taking food out of the mouths of the non dominant miners.
