I am definitely a fan of a strong defense being an effective deterrent. That was Western Germany and it worked. If you do not invest enough in defense, you will gain adversaries. You should not wait until the barbarians are at the gates and then scrounge around for bows and arrows. Those bows and arrows have to be ready _before_ the barbarians arrive. And you need to have archers, who are trained to use them. That takes years. You have to be ready years before anyone makes a move.
I also think there is no higher form of cowardice and shamelessness than expecting foreigners to protect you, while you lounge around and wax poetic about world peace, climate change, feminist diplomacy, and how you want to spend the money you save on defense on more vacation days, vegan school lunches, and free bus tickets. As the European NATO has done for decades, with the USA. I think that is incredibly outrageous behavior and the US Presidents have _all_ complained about it, and their complaints are entirely justified.
The only reason they haven't abandoned us, entirely, in exasperation, is because of countries like Poland and the Scandinavians.

Even without this channel, I don't see how cashu can only do "a few payments per day"
If we accept some rug risk, cashu appears to be great at optimising other things (privacy, ease of use, and speed)
If you can point to an existing scalable solution that has zero rug risk, that is easier to use - and to develop for - than Lightning, then I'd like to see it

And solving for productivity gains solves for debt. This is the thing.
You can shrink the private and public national debt by increasing the size of the economy, which is most-painlessly done by increasing the productivity of each individual working hour, while keeping total hours and number of workers stable.
This is why Trump is so obsessed with AI. He's done this math and knows the USA can grow out of its' debt.
The stock market bubble, the outstanding Treasury bills, the private credit... It will all melt away, if the per-capita/per-hour productivity grows fast enough.

You can do this with Nostr. Replaceable events make it possible.
I'm working on streaming micropayments, allowing many payments per second. It's basically a lightning channel, but using cashu instead of on-chain bitcoin
Lightning is great, but it doesn't work for tiny high-volume payments, like 1 sat per kilobyte of download or 1 sat per 1000 tokens, because of lightning fees and latency
Also, cashu - like Lightning - supports millisats which allows for tiny payments.
So you could connect to any service like this, such as a Nostr relay or ppq.ai or a Blossom server for media, set up a channel with 10000 sats and start making micropayments. You can end the session at any time, and the service can't steal the rest of the channel capacity. The service can exit with only the (milli)sats which you paid to it

I think im unclear when I say native auto splits. My bad on that. I shouldn't have used native.
What i mean is: the ability to input my own splits, have the ability to update them permissionlessly at any time, and for them to be broadcast and globally updated automatically everywhere with reasonable assurance that every client playing my audio has the updated splits.
My opinion has actually shifted on this point. I think AI is going to widen the gap between the very highest performers and everyone else. We're being turbo-charged.

The cohesiveness and trust of the society, and fertility of the middle cohort, will become more important, to the quality of life. It is therefore too short-sighted, to demonize or antagonize large swathes of the population.
A place like South Korea will soon become a robot-manned old age home. It is actually an incredibly unhealthy, low-trust society, as evidenced by their complete inability to mate. They made the wrong decision, putting all of their eggs in the high-IQ and racial-purity basket. AI is going to completely destroy them.
We do not need to turn humans into robots. We will have real robots.

You could do all the fancy hashing and cdn lookups but i think thats still overcomplicated. There's no need to push the metadata or file hosting onto relays. All the relays need is the guid of the feed (its in plaintext, can't miss it) and the apps just need a library or template or git so it knows how to decode the tags. But I digress... it's self hosted and thats the key.
If you want it distributed, put it on a blossom server and literally ctrl+v that in your RSS (a text file). Done.

One major hurdle that is a non-starter is ability to edit and ensure all end users are being delivered the most up to date version every time. The uploader must have control over a universal truth "current" copy. I believe this is difficult over nostr because of the relay model. Maybe not impossible but whatever is being explored needs to be absolutely certain it first answers the problem of editing files and all end users being delivered the correct latest version.

The RSS splits are absolutely permissionless if you're running your own node and hosting your own files.
If you're not, we'll its no different than having a custodial lightning wallet (it literally is that).
The RSS feed simply has a text file with a tag to a lightning or node address. If you self host your feed (on any server) as well, then everything you are doing is 100% permissionless.
If you're talking about the payment rails being used, thats lightning network. Keysend vs lnaddress vs whatever else is a bitcoin lightning problem, not an rss issue. RSS (or more accurately DeMu) uses both keysend and lnaddress but its a bit of a mixed bag of semi compatibility so admittedly not a perfect situation either.

I am always wary of becoming the sort of person I would normally complain about.
Expediency is not everything because we have to lie in the bed we have made.
I dont believe music on nostr actually happens on nostr. It happens on rss and is distributed and discovered over nostr.
We dont need a nostr janitor as its downstream from RSS. RSS has been a standard thats been reliable for decades. No need to recreate the wheel. They've already got plenty of janitors.
We simply need bots and other programmatic triggers so when things happen in the RSS world, they get automatically noted and bridged to nostr. Plenty ofnpeople have been making music kinds - use those by parsing the rss feeds for metadata. Its a goldmine, seriously. From there people can pull endless other automation and integrations.
One other thing to keep in mind is if your follow list is fairly large (above 800) some relays (especially strfry with the default settings) will silently reject your follow list updates due to the size of the data payload.

When you sign into PvZ do you see different relays in your settings page? If it’s not a close match it means your NIP-65 relay list isn’t being broadcast by your client. You can enter them manually and try a republish and see if that improved things.
Seems to me a Nostr event can be the canonical publishing if and only if we get the content delivery to be resilient (something like IPFS or torrents)
Then interoperability with RSS and then you’re bulletproof for self-publishing audio and video

Since I'm taking a few weeks vacation, I've decided to seriously try to learn rust. My method in this case is to ask ChatGPT to guide me (but not write for me!) a library ("crate") that I've always wanted to write and never got around to.

I personally think that Bluesky's PDSs should have remained neutral infrastructure. Before, when they were like that, you could effectively build out your own platform using Bluesky's infrastructure for hosting, kinda bootstrapping the protocol and letting anyone build a platform with the rules of their choosing.
Now that Bluesky moderates at the PDS layer AND the relay layer, and since they host the vast majority of AT Proto infrastructure, they've more or less locked the entirety of AT into Bluesky's community guidelines. (Who'd want to build a platform on AT with different guidelines, if no user of Bluesky - which is practically the entire network - could partake in said alternative AT platform?)
As far as other platforms though, I'm more agnostic on neutral PDSs - if I understand the issue with that controversy it was with Blacksy. If an alternative platform moderates at the PDS layer that's not going to effectively apply the rules to all of AT like Bluesky can. Once a protocol is more widespread individual instances of it can have a diverse set of rules, but if one instance (e.g. Bluesky Corporate) can apply it's rules to the entire network before it expands, then the protocol could be captured and prevented from expanding beyond that initial niche base that captured it.

To get started is pretty simple:
Just upload your song/art/metadata to one of many hosts (or your own server/website). Some options I like are Podhome.fm or Fountain.fm podhome gives a bit more granular control imo and is my preferred for hosting but fountain is probably easier and a very good option. They integrated with RSSBlue and we use their services too.
With fountain you can use their wallet. With podhome you have to bring ypur own but coinos.io works and its a 2 second anonymous sign up. You can also run your own nodes and use that wallet (advanced but most options and most sovereign). @ me or DM if you have specific questions when filling stuff out.
I prefer you to be sovereign but if you want someone to just do this all for you white glove, we can handle your entire discography with promo for a small split. But like I say, I rather you figure it out for yourself.
From there, get an npub and start interacting with your fans on nostr! Talk to the V4VJs here and be part of the community. Boost/zap other artists, use the apps, give feedback to the devs. Thats how we grow a thriving community.

My reading kinda ebbs and flows, but I've been reading a fair but lately. Over the last month or so I've read two books in their entirety, read parts of another one or two, and re-listened to a 6 book audiobook series. A lot of times I use audiobooks and ebooks via TTS as background audio when working/gaming/driving etc.
Overall, if audiobooks count, maybe 30-50. If audiobooks (and using TTS to read some or all of an ebook) don't count then maybe 2-10 depending on the year. But just a rough guess.

To be clear, they come with a skinned version. For true openwrt you still need to flash, it is far less dicey though. Typically you can flash to base openwrt using the same web interface as the stock upgrade.
At least on the ones I have. I just use Beryl travel routers as wifi APs.

If we can get X artists over... and each of them brings a couple of their hardcore biggest fans with them... those fans will find other amazing new DeMu music and become fans there too. These are the type of people who'll actually monetarily support an artist they love.
All it takes is a few fans per artist to cross-pollinate a whole new hardcore fan base for everyone. When other artists see whats happening, the next wave of artists and their fans will come. Thats how we scale, stairstep in waves.

To be fair, I have never once used the “check this to approve all changes.” Literally not once. I have to stop and redirect it way too much to ever think that would be a good idea.

However the batteries and the coil (not just a tube) is just how you make a magnet from a battery at all. So the metal on the end of the battery is giving contact to the coil, and the positive and negative at each end is causing the energy to travel through the coil from the front of the battery to the back, but the magnetic field created pushes it through the inside of the coil, making the contacts move, etc.
It’s basically an electric engine but inside out sort of. That’s also why I’m unsure on the spoons. It was on site at a 300m tower, in a leased room for our equipment. There was a lot of other things at that location too, terrestrial TV & Radio broadcast, other microwave links, cellular stuff as well, even some ham stuff I believe. The boss had 20 years experience though, and it was replicating the setup from our initial location which had a similar set of conditions. I'm sure he had his reasons.
