I think a lot of people see Trump as the devil they know. A crook but a known quantity. Whereas the political class has always been seen as hypocritical because the nature of politics is compromise and at times corruption to achieve goals.
What they don't understand is that most politicians corrupt themselves with the intention of promoting the common good. However Trump like Nero would watch the world burn just for his own self engradizement. He is existentially dangerous.

It looks like I'm going to have to reverse myself on the Biden issue. I thought if the campaign could limit is exposure, bring other democrats to the fore and present it as a team based administration you could sell it. Did some quick napkin math. If you assume the rule that rent should be 1/3 of your take home, in order to rent the average 1 bdrm apartment in metro Vancouver you would need to gross 117,000 a year. Not seeing too many jobs for young people at 117k a year.

The democrats have the an advantage in that they're not running a cult. They have a lot of personalities on their side of the aisle that are young and vibrant. The campaign needs to get those people mobilized in front of cameras and show the American public that a vote for democrats is not just a vote for Biden but for a Biden administration.

1) I hear that Chevy is considering restarting the Camaro brand as an electric SUV.
I have no problem with the next Camaro being an all electric vehicle but make it a performance EV coup not a glorified station wagon. No it's not going to sell like an SUV but you have other SUVs in your line for that. Why not embrace hot rodding again with new technologies? Make a performance coup with modular upgradable components.

I've read more on the proposed business model, and I'm not convinced that selling ancillary services is adequate. I see paid content in their future, and yes I could be wrong..

I think a simple change in nomenclature could help Mastodon incredibly. Servers is an inaccurate term and instance is unfamiliar and vague. Both create tension for new users.
Why not simply call Mastodon instances what they are: Communities.
Ask users which Mastodon community they'd like to join. Have community rules, community policy, and community leaders. Not server rules, instance moderators and administrators.

@npub1p8s…4tga It'll be just another general purpose instance. It'll have a lot of users, some will be good some will be awful. As an individual on the fediverse you'll have to mute, block, etc. As an instance I'll have to decide if there's an ongoing pattern of abuse from that instance and if so block it. IMHO fears of overwhelming traffic for small instances is unfounded. Nobody blocks Mastodon.Social because of traffic issues. The whole panic is rediculous.

#[0] Twitter in a pretty shrewd move at the outset made the blue check a status symbol. It tiered it's users and gave them something to aspire too. I imagine it was also a great carrot for prospective advertisers. It's scarcity created demand. Of course Elon with zero clue immediately devalued the check mark to zero so now those that once had status have been stripped of it, including, you guessed it, the press.
