A lot of gender stuff cis people take for granted is fake. Some women have masculine features. Some men have feminine features. Gender bending has always been a thing. Women aren't inherently nicer. Men aren't inherently more aggressive.

Like, I get nobody wants riots and violence and open warfare in the streets, but there's a reason Republicans (and sometimes Democrats) have moved to crack down on virtually any form of protest. It doesn't matter how peaceful you are, if you're perceived as a threat to power, they're going to send the riot cops to fuck you up and kill you. And a protest that doesn't generate that response is one they will completely disregard as harmless and ineffectual.

For a lot of people, "defeating fascism" just means beating Trump at the ballot box again, as if it hasn't been growing and spreading unchecked this entire time he's been out of office.

It is kind of wild how there is no Democratic plan akin to Project 2025 other than the usual wishy-washy campaign platforms that get dispensed with a week after the election. There's no systematic plan to push back on abortion, the courts, corruption, voting rights, anything. Just a weary "get off my lawn" paternalism that demands so much from voters so they can do so little.

I dreamed I was part of this group of four friends. The "leader" was handsome, charismatic, and gay but trying to play it down. I was the trans woman friend. We saved a giant talking koala from the sewer, ghosts kept telling me to stop crying on their behalf, and we broke into DARPA for shits and giggles. The "leader" was trying to turn us into a band using fridge magnet poetry his ex left behind as lyrics. It wasn't working.

"Why don't Americans protest more" is a funny question because Americans have nothing and no one to rally around, no coherent ideology beyond a vague sense of patriotic duty, a lot of them are ignorant by design, many more are exhausted by design, protesters are universally portrayed as violent terrorists, they get no political support or protection (unless they're Nazis) and they get brutalized by cops with military gear whenever they do show up in numbers, no matter how peaceful.
