Americans have been propagandized into seeing Israel as the Most Moral Nation, and told little about the realities of Palestinians to maintain it, but honestly, it was easy with Islamophobia and Americans' passive acceptance of racism and colonial oppression.
Politically, it's to protect the AIPAC gravy train of campaign contributions, even though AIPAC is an unholy alliance of neoconservatives and antisemitic evangelicals with Israeli right-wingers, and to shovel money to arms manufacturers.
