Activists from many groups blockade downtown DC AM Rush hour on Trump's 100th day in office
On the 30th of April, a half dozen groups deployed into early AM rush hour traffic for multiple roving blockades. Back on July 24 2024, monitoring police radio showed that police were incapable of countering multiple small marches that also set up mobile blockades.
On the last day of April 2025, this tactic was used again. It appears that each affinity group targetted a specific area, with Jews Against Fascism targetting the area around ICE.
It appears cops kept traffic far away, transforming each march into a multiple-block wide mobile blockade. The cops thus effectively allowed themselves to be used as a force multiplier by the marchers themselves

This is a HUGE win and shows our power. We had Trump caught with his pants down, and the courts got wind of this case before they could quietly ship him to CECOT. Quite possible the courts would have let this go if not for the huge anti-Trump groundswell these days though. That goes double with Trump now having judges arrested on the bench.
Might just be that Trump moved too soon without having the procedures ready to quickly move someone out of the reach of the US Marshalls though. This case was one of the first of the unlawful arrests with no warrant, charge, or even immigration "violation" alleged.

What is he going to do with this list besides refusing to send Federal payments there? In Chicago he found on his very first day in office that the city was effectively defended from ICE by its population.
In fact, he is giving those lucky enough to live in sanctuary cities time to prepare and harden their defenses. I disagree with one point made here: I do NOT agree that protests or direct actions play into Trump's hands, as if he is denied one excuse or venue for a false flag he will simply find or create another.

I would remind them that we have drones of our own. ONE incident of a protester being shot at from a drone and the FAA regs concerning use of non-police drones over crowds (such as at protests) go out the window.
There are real air safety dangers of any but the smallest drones over crowds as we saw from that nasty incident with a professionally put on drone show in Orlando, so those rules have a legit purpose. Police drones used for surveillance normally keep their distance and rely on zoom cameras to minimize that risk. Weaponized drones though would require an effective air defense, as the risk posed by their weapons would outweigh the risk posed by our own drones. On the 22nd of March, TeslaTakedown activists deployed to showrooms all over the US for another round of protests aimed at starving out Elon Musk. One of these protests was in West Palm Beach, FL.
During the protest, Trump supporter Andrew Dutl attempted to ram down protesters, jumping his black SUV onto the sidewalk as the protesters were not in the street. He missed all of them as everyone including elders sucessfully jumped or scrambled to safety. He then stopped his car and got out.
Someone called the cops.When Dutil heard the sirens he got back in his SUV and fled but it was too late. Police cruisers quickly chased him down and persuaded or forced him to stop. He was arrested and a booking photo identified him. A social media search on his name identified him as a member of a pro-Trump group and also a Veteran. Many progressive and middle of the road vets are furious about this, especially given that Musk and DOGE are after their VA benefits. Someone yelled "traitor!" as he got back in his SUV and attempted to flee before being chased down.
It is also being reported tjhat Andrew Dutil's current job (until he gets fired that is) is working at the same Tesla showroom!

While this is one of the most complete incinerations of a car I've ever seen, note that most of the fire damage is above the floor level with very little paint damage below the bottom of the doors.

That 2021 incident was grounds to soak their faces in pepper mace and if that didn't stop them even to draw a gun and shoot them. A mob assaulting someone can be considered a life-threatening attack. That means use of deadly force to repel or stop the attack is justified.

Personally, I think this hospital should have told Trump and Musk to stick their Federal funding up their ass, and jacked up the prices charged to rich people for things like tummy tucks to pay for it. You will never see me using any corporate app or website that wants to check my OS or hardware for ANYTHING. I don't play monetized games, I don't bank online, I don't use any site's app. Even online shopping is limited to things not found in any store and exiled to a separate quarantine operating system and such use will never touch a phone in my hands.
The really great thing about Graphene is how poorly Cellbrite works with it! From my understanding the only thing Cellbrite can do with Graphene is take a forensic image of an already unlocked phone.
This actually might happen if someone with both their own Cellbrite box and their own graphene phone needs an image to analyze say, an attempted attack without having to keep the phone out of service. It has to be booted, unlocked, USB debugging on, and here's the kicker: Cellbrite can't even bypass the requirement to authorize the particular computer connected to the phone to use the adb bridge!
I think given the events since November Graphene is going to be getting a lot of new users.

This needs to be fixed. I can think right now of a place it could send someone to prison:
A sheriff's department in the South suspects a woman has left town,might be seeking an abortion and they know her phone number by any of the usual methods.
A detective fires up Signal and sends her a photo of ANYTHING, not indicating he's with the cops. If the target receives the message while in an out of state city containing a clinic known for abortion, that could be enough for a search warrant targetting her phone (for comms) her bank account (for payment information) and social media accounts. This could easily escalate to a conviction and a prison sentence.

One thing I refuse to do is buy products requiring age verification at stores. I do not shop with ID and automatically decline any transaction where ID is demanded. I usually just say "get rid of it" referring to the offending item, then I get it at another store. This is things like Super Glue in some cases.

This threat to prosecute a defense witness can be and should be construed as an attempt to force the witness to disappear and stop showing up in court.
This is thus grounds for sanctions against the prosecution. We saw in the J20 case Brady violations that this can include prohibiting the prosecution from using some or all of their intended arguments going forward. This in fact was what killed the J20 prosecutions and protected the lives of so many people.

That recording was done with my own modified amp and guitar too. I had the house to myself, so I was able to crank that amp ALL the way up for tone. I put it in my bedroom, mic'ed it, and ran the microphone and guitar cables under the door, which I then closed. This way I could hear the drum machine track (one I wrote myself) in the headphones and control the feedback.
Amp was a 50 watt marshall that had been a rental. I added an effects loop, extra gain, and channel switching. All tubes as there was no good solid state metal amp in those days.

Right now, the so-called "deep state" may be the only thing left that can snap a leash on Trump's collar. Their motive would be stability and protection of the economy. If they fail, much of Project 2025 becomes law-and the last remnants of the old republic may be swept away.

Atlanta's Cop City "done" and expected to open Jan 2025 just in time for Trump
Years of heavy fighting prevented Cop City from opening in 2023 or 2024 but officials are now claiming to be "putting finishing touches on it" to open in the first quarter of 2024. APD is probably licking their lips about using it to train for assaulting protesters and storming people's homes with Trump taking power.
For years the chant was "if you build it we will burn it" and over and over again tough fighters did exactly that. Again and again equipment at the site went up in flames. The fires then spread nationwide to other construction sites involving the same contractors, the same equipment rental companies, or even the same investors. Even a Bank of America building and a movie studio were incinerated during this midlevel insurgency.
The enemy however committed themselves to finishing the project at any price. Their crackdowns on publicly visible protesters took place without any limitations imposed by any law whatsoever. For all this power they nearly lost ALL their concrete contractors, which would have forcibly terminated the project barring use of the US Army Corps of Engineers to pour the concrete. In the end however this courageous and inspiring insurgency appears to have been simply overpowered.
There is however one silver lining: it has taken so much police resources to defend the site that it has weakened APD everywhere else. They were forced to intensively fortify the site while it was quite literally built under fire.
This has taken a lot of cops off the street. Due to the "if you build it we will burn it" promise, this defense will probably have to continue for the entire duration of Cop City's existance. Thus, the project could end up tactically doing the same job as anarchists locking up an identical number of cops in the basements of squats! APD may have won a pyrric victory at Weelaunee Forest, and if so Tortuguita's spirit shall have the last laugh.

Coal and oil went through this same transition.
First I will consider coal as it went through this first. Coal isn't exactly new, people expecially in ecosystems lacking wood had known about rocks that burn but stink for thousands of years. The Romans didn't use coal on any large scale, and "peak wood" production is believed by many to have capped their empire. They DID use coal in Britain to some extent, but never enough to displace their insatiable demand for wood.
A few centuries after the collapse of the Roman Empire came a European population expansion made possibly by of all things a new plough-the moldboard plough that made heavy, muddy soils the Roman plough could not handle farmable. Between demand for lumber, demand for farmland, and demand for firewood in Europe's cold winters, the forests of Europe were quickly being denuded. As firewood grew more and more expensive, coal began displacing wood. This was so fast that some early surface mines were played out by the end of the Middle Ages.
Had that coal not existed, it's probable that most or even all of Europe's forests would have been cut for firewood. Only now would any old growth be returning in Europe, and that's assuming humans didn't just keep clearing whole forests.
The only thing is, coal is an even dirtier fuel than firewood. As cities grew, sulfurous smoke became a real problem so much that things like silver utensils quickly tarished.
It was not until the mid 20th century that electrostatic precipitators and baghouses on coal burning power plants began to get a handle on the smoke problems. Of course this did noting about the open CO2 circuit, which is totally differnt than the closed circuit of burning firewood no faster than it grows.
Burning firewood faster than it grows though might be a double hit, worse than coal due to the removal of carbon sinks from the environment, and traces of human-caused climate change have been around since people first started using fire. More on this later...
Petroleum similarily had small scale uses for a couple thousand years but was a niche product. Then came the growing demand for whale oil for lamps for indoor lighting in the 1800's. This led to an explosion of whale hunting, which came within a whisker of making most whale species extinct. It was petroleum that stopped this: someone figured out how to distill petroleum to get a usable lamp oil (kerosene) from it. This played a major role in killing off the whale oil industry just as whales were becoming endangered. The much smaller whale meat industry persisted. At about this time, Arctic ice destroyed a couple of whaling fleets pursuing whales to ever-more remote refuges, and due to competition from kerosene there was no longer enough money to rebuild the fleets crushed by the polar cap as winter ambushed the whalers north of Point Barrow, Alaska.
Act II for Petroleum came by chance: while electric lighting killed the demand for lamp oil, the refining of kerosene had produced a waste product that was too dangerous to include in lamp oil so it was dumped into rivers. This was gasoline.
Overlapping with this era was early experiments in "horseless carriages." Once they became practical to use, these early cars were promoted as anti-pollution devices! The use of horseless carriages in cities meant horses were no longer needed on city streets, thus removing the stench and flies of urban horse shit piles. Electric, steam, and internal combustion all had their market segments. Internal combustion came to rule the roost, but as it grew it was necessary to be able to greatly scale up fuel production.
Henry Ford had originally planned to run the Model T on ethanol, readily made on any farm but not in unlimited quantities. Then he and other carmakers realized that the waste being thrown into rivers by the kerosene industry (e.g. Standard Oil) was usable as motor fuel and cheap.
Demand for gasoline then rapidly overwhelmed demand for kerosene, and refiners now put the heaviest hydrocarbons into gasoline they could get away with. When cars started knocking (detonation) under load, nobody knew why save that the problem got worse the more compression was used. More compression meant more power and less fuel consumption, but only about 4-1 could be used. Ten to one is common today and 8-1 was common in 1975. The knocking was found to be from detonation, essentially the compressed fuel-air mix detonating supersonically as dynamite does, not burning subsonically as gunpowder does.
To give you an idea what this does, if a high explosive shell detonates in the barrel of an artillery piece, the barrel quite often bursts, even with nothing ahead of the shell holding pressure. The cylinder of a piston engine is esentially a cannon barrel and the piston is a projectile permanently attached to a crank,
Blending 10-30% ethanol into the roughly 50 octane gas of the time could stop the destructive knocking, but GM's experimentors considered the amount of ethanol needed impractical. Experimentation led them to the public policy disaster of tetra-ethyl lead, costing several generations about 5 points of IQ for everyone. Leaded gas was banned soon after introduction, but oil and auto industry lobbyists were just too powerful so the ban only lasted a year.
What killed off lead was a massive increase in other pollutants from an ever-growing number of cars, forcing the use of catalytic converters. Car use had mushroomed far beyond what people had ever done with horse carriages. The same anti-pollution device that got the horse shit off city streets also blew away limits on how many carriages there could be in a city. On top of that, racist whites moved into suburbs fleeing school desegregation, fueling a storm of suburban sprawl.
By this time, the oil industry had learned to make high-octane gas without lead, and Amoco had had high octane unleaded for years for unrelated reasons at that time. Lead was removed from car and boat gasoline, but it's STILL in some aircraft and racing gas!) C
Catalytic converters and computerized fuel injection limited carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbons, and oxides of nitrogen. Slowly the air began to clear but then something else happened: yet more growth.
Today, smog is on the rise again, as more and bigger cars overwhelm the gains from catalytic converters and computerized engines. Electric cars help, but so long as the power to run them comes from coal or gas, the power plants are also such large smog emitters some EPA "noncompliance zones" requiring things like auto emissions inspections are being overwhelmed from upwind by power plant emissions and their air just can't take any further additions.
Then there's global warming: we humans are now so far off the track for emitting no more CO2 than our plants can absorb that in the absence of a well-organized and planned program of degrowth as well as decarbonization, we are basically already committed to climate catastrophe.
This can kill the elephants saved by plastic, the forests saved by coal, the whales save by kerosene-and many or even most of US in a worst case scenario,

Not repairing things is destructive and expensive. I have a lot of stuff here I made myself. In those cases a repair is usually much easier than starting over from raw materials.
I try to avoid owning nonrepairable things unless no alternatives exist.
