I'm excited for #HarrisForPresident
I know there are groups who feel she shouldn't be elected. There will always be those who wish to destroy.
I know there are concerns that he will not accept the results and she will be forced to navigate something much worse than Jan 6th. They hope to somehow delay progress, to somehow drive us into a false reality where men and women are separate, white makes right.
I understand the work ahead. We need to bolster our local systems. Build infrastructure and better networks for our most vulnerable. We need to acknowledge that they are not being good faith partners and we need to call them out and force them to own their terrible opinions.
Kamala Harris makes me excited for our community and country. The energy around her campaign gives me hope, and a feeling of leadership.
Perhaps I'm independent but it certainly doesn't feel that way.
I'm excited.

Hello Fedi friends!
Yesterday was hot and rather hectic but today should be more mild. Zara was insisting that I wake up early so I could pet her.
At 2, I think she is as large as she will get, more or less. This morning she climbed into my lap and put her head on my shoulder and purred. It's an odd style to lay in, but she loves it.
Today she fully committed to the bit. I had sat down and started reading as my mind sorted through the day. She jumped straight into my lap and began to settle down laying up my chest. She knows I will slouch to give her a better angle, so she firmly bumped my phone out of my hands...
"Who says cats can't talk?" I say, laughing slightly as I begin to pet her. She makes that little half meow she does when I talk this way.
My mind drifting lazily with the rhythm of her soft purr, feeling the warm and fuzzy body beneath my hands and warming my chest.

This situation happens a lot with people who are compassionate towards others, I think.
I believe it comes from seeing an opportunity to compartmentalize the relationships and keep them 1:1 with our mutual goals/successes being exclusive to the other person. For example, you and I could become friends and have our own intimate conversations/struggles/etc. and they are not part of the conversations I may have with hubs or your brother.
For me, if all things are equal, I would consider who would benefit the most from the support. In your above case (Amanda and James) if you don't believe you can maintain a relationship with both of them individually - which of them can you be the better friend to?

Today is a day of new beginnings? I'm outlining... well, I should be outlining.
Currently I'm drinking juice, listening to some random 2000's hit list and watching my cat suspect the person walking their dog of something nefarious. She went from completely passive to completely in tension with her ears perked and ready to fold back. The dog is maybe... 100yrs away and thirty or so feet below her, so she is definitely able to out maneuver this beast should it suddenly become aware of her. :ablobcateyeroll:
I'm so curious what world she lives in, my little cat. She lives her life in a mixture of childish demands, ill defined anxiety, and complete aloof disregard.

some of my fondest memories of nature happen from behind glass.
I am a big fan of mountains, lakes, oceans, and cityscapes. From the comforts of cushions, in conditioned air if I so choose.

The day has been persistent but cruel. I woke up with my story echoing in my head, lots of details I am trying to snatch out of the air to attach to the page. The inner monologue is a PITA and imposters syndrome is loudly clanging.
