Black Women Talk Tech: Carving Our Path To Entrepreneurial Success
" Despite representing just 3% of the tech workforce and receiving only 0.1% of venture capital funding, Black women are rapidly emerging as leading entrepreneurs.
According to a 2021 report, there is no comparable Statistics Canada data on Black women entrepreneurs in Canada and limited information on their profiles. The study says the existing research “highlights the barriers that Black women entrepreneurs experience while operating and growing their businesses, namely: access to financing, cost of borrowing, and access to equity or capital.”
According to The Business Development Bank of Canada, access to capital is the greatest hurdle for Black entrepreneurs with 82% self-financing their business from personal savings, and with 44% of Black entrepreneurs not being able to pay themselves from their business. "
"Despite legal setbacks and systemic barriers, Black women are proving that they can and will overcome. With the ongoing efforts of Esosa and Regina through BWTT, the community of Black female entrepreneurs is not only surviving but thriving. I am hearing: It doesn't matter that Harris had only 100 days to prepare and campaign, it's their fault they last because they didn't meet each and every person's need. It doesn't matter how hard she worked or that a billionaire propped up the opposition and Russia hit social media with thousands of bots and trolls to disrupt the election.
But most important is, I am hearing ,
"It doesn't matter that someone is agreeing to assist the head of a White Supremacist movement who wants to come out full on Nazi and take away human rights that people have fought for and tried to maintain since at least the 1960s not to mention before that time."

Yes, I have noticed the same. and fewer song birds, beetles, frogs, turtles, bunnies, and so on.
It's very depressing.
However!
Do you remember the posts I sent about taking action? Gardens etc? Little actions, small steps can help lift that sorrow.
Next year, I plan to plant wildflowers to attract butterflies. little things can make a difference if more people contribute.

For example: Canadian geese are not all flying south for the winter in some areas their mating habits are all out of balance. Last winter I watched flocks flying North in January!!

I was fortunate to have a grandmother who was very kind, affectionate, and "normal". She was the much needed stability in my life,.I spent more time living with her my first 5 years than with my parents. Thankfully, or I might have become the same type of parent as my mother and father.
My grandmother was a typical old-school Ukrainian woman, food was her life, constantly cooking, baking and stuffing everyone with delicious treats, including me.. . 😊

🤣 I hear you. I remember the ads for smoking with supposed doctors advising that smoking was good for you.
I think everything in moderation is ok, except of course smoking!!!! Do Not smoke please!! About one third of the residents here who smoke cigarettes are on oxygen and can't stop! They are very slowly suffocating themselves. It's an awful death!

Researchers are arguing that mind puzzles are not the answer, exercise and a healthy diet is the most important because the healthier you eat the more vitamins and minerals in your bloodstream--and exercise increases the blood flow to your brain thereby feeding your brain. I live in a retirement home. Most residents do not move around except to walk form the tv in their room to the dining area three times a day. You would be shocked at the rapid cognitive decline in those residents. That is why my husband and I continue the pre-retirement home habit of walking at least a couple of miles per day even in very cold weather.
I have no memory problems yet.
(Researchers are arguing... 😉 😂 )
But seriously, it's true , that is what the theory is now.

I thought of another one to add to your list of why fascism won the election: , Reading or rather lack of reading skills or motivation to read.
When I was growing up there were no personal computers. The library was the "computer" because it held all the information in the world. Every topic, math, science, art, music, history. History!!! Who reads history books anymore? No one reads about Germany before WWII, or personal stories about people who survived and how they managed to live through one of the world's worst crisis.
Most people (like my age,) who heard the stories first hand from survivors are dead and don't talk about it, or find that no one wants to hear about what the conditions were back then.
So we go back to reading. No one wants to bother reading.
TV is easier. Videos are easier.
Entertainment is a priority not education.
