I thought of another one to add to your list of why fascism won the election: , Reading or rather lack of reading skills or motivation to read.
When I was growing up there were no personal computers. The library was the "computer" because it held all the information in the world. Every topic, math, science, art, music, history. History!!! Who reads history books anymore? No one reads about Germany before WWII, or personal stories about people who survived and how they managed to live through one of the world's worst crisis.
Most people (like my age,) who heard the stories first hand from survivors are dead and don't talk about it, or find that no one wants to hear about what the conditions were back then.
So we go back to reading. No one wants to bother reading.
TV is easier. Videos are easier.
Entertainment is a priority not education.
