Maybe if I could connect the LAN cable and monitor at the same time, this wasn't necessary. But, my monitor and router are in different rooms and neither can be moved. So the home server backup now comes with a desktop environment. #Tradeoff

I am sure it was on the front page at some point. I remember reading the article today. I remember it well because, I didn't know a company named Panic existed, when I clicked on the Logo it kept me in blog.panic. subdomain and didn't let me see the home page. Maybe it got moved later (organically or otherwise - I have no way of telling). But I did see in the front page.

I think my rose tinted glasses for “deterministic” “reproducible” systems are slowly clearing up.
Tried to develop couple of projects which came with a shell.nix file and it bombed saying versions don’t exist and I needed to manually tweak it.
My experience with Python Poetry has never been great. (its a deterministic package manager)
I think at the end of the day it’s all a mirage of sorts. You think you have it locked down, only for it to blow up when something is recreated later.

gnucash.org has HTML 5 and CSS3 Logos in the footer but is borderline unreadable in a mobile screen. I suspect they might be just using the CSS 1 subset of the spec.

I have been spending the free time last few days using Ansible to install software on Debian. A few things:
* The deb822 ansible module is great. It shortens 4 lines of shell command from providers to add a new debian repo source into a single call.
* A surprising no. of crucial software I use like nvm, pyenv …etc., are totally dependent on Github for distribution. It's all installed on user env and patched into user shell. I am not a fan.
* Setting up "config distributions" like Doom Emacs, LunarVim are almost impossible. Better to do it from the shell by hand. The LSPs and the layers of dependencies we have added to make these text editors into IDEs is absurd.

One more time fellas, drop the nightmare of brokers, in-memory storage with Celery and switch to Prefect driven by a persistent DB if you can.
Just the ability to rerun a failed/crashed task or just copy the params over to another task and rerun is such a relief.

Okay! This happiness was short lived. Now the #Starshipt icons on Emacs VTerm are broken again.
Apparently, this is common issue. The icons work after an update. But eventually get broken after a restart.

In the sporting side apparently Tour de France is in full swing and Mark Cavendish has broken the record of 34 stages and won his 35th.
Every year it’s a question of if he will make it to the tour and he somehow makes it and does this. Impressive feat. #LeTour
