I think my rose tinted glasses for “deterministic” “reproducible” systems are slowly clearing up.
Tried to develop couple of projects which came with a shell.nix file and it bombed saying versions don’t exist and I needed to manually tweak it.
My experience with Python Poetry has never been great. (its a deterministic package manager)
I think at the end of the day it’s all a mirage of sorts. You think you have it locked down, only for it to blow up when something is recreated later.
