I agree with your analysis. Peck's point was that saying "I have no power, I must depend upon a higher power" has definite fascistic tones. I have not been terribly impressed by local AA or Al-Anon groups, just another social club in which people discuss their bad deeds and expect pats on the back. The last Al-Anon meeting I went to included a woman from Quebec who gave money to her drug dealer son who then used it to buy drugs and sell them to schoolchildren. The women in the room all told her what a good mother she was. I could have screamed!!!!!
(There was a film on our local PBS station today and I could only stand a little bit of watching French Canadian-Americans screeching about their way of life which included insulting indigenous people. I have what's called a "smart" toaster oven, but it doesn't mean it's connected to the internet. It means it adjusts itself depending on what you are toasting, baking, warming in it. What happens when there's a power outage? I saw the teacher's letter and thank you for posting it. Why does every concept have to be twisted? Restorative justice was NEVER meant to be used for violent crime, and I think a lot of boys could do with a year on an island with nothing but a flint and a knife. I still don't know much because it's his sister's project, but everyone around here has signs against LS Power building a transmission line through people's land. Omigoddess, how many rogue tomato plants have I had?
I put them in a glass or jar and cover them with water. You want them to ferment, and when there's mold on top of the water, you drain off the yukky stuff and put them on paper (like your coffee filters) to dry. I don't know why this is recommended as opposed to just washing them except you want all the pectin off the seeds. ???
Do you keep your seeds in the freezer? I learned this from a woman I used to buy seedlings from.

Didn't have a garden this year, but I've got tomato seeds in the freezer, including Orange Strawberry which are my favorite orange tomatoes, and Pink Brandywines. I'm always wary of these stories particularly because Chinese nationals would stick out in rural Maine just like African-Americans do. I think it's individual dogs. When I was taking a training course they recommended raisins for treats, then vets said raisins were toxic to dogs. Ditto grapes, and I had a dog who loved grapes.
It's probably similar to people and has a lot to do with gut health and tolerances. My dog Pascal can eat anything, but he has enough drool in his mouth (sign of good health) to dissolve a safety pin (dogs' guts can actually dissolve safety pins).

I don't get this. I use OTC cortisone products and have never had a problem. Women on Stop the Thyroid Madness suggested their use INSTEAD of taking oral or injected cortisone for joint issues. She was also given miconazole, which is an antifungal. ?????

What interests me is that my parents -- both radicals -- never talked to me about Truman administration corruption (so bad he dropped out of a '52 primary race). My mother said Stevenson wasn't elected due to Americans' "anti-intellectualism," but Dark Quadrant puts it down to the incredible corruption Truman reigned over and Howard Fast put it down to Stevenson's reluctance to end the war in Korea.

She did come out of her crate (she seems to feel safer in there) last evening and jumped around with a Wubba; she loves going for walks in the woods; she adores Pascal who is incredibly patient with her (and I think I know now why the dog in the failed adoptive home didn't like her -- she will play for hours). Her foster mom said it takes about two months for her to really come out of her shell. She's a whirling dervish when awake then a couch potato to recover.

I shall give thanks for a cat and two dogs with sweet breath -- the best test -- no farts, and the usual poo odor. Ever since I brought Josie home she's been getting a human-grade probiotic every day and she started eating yogurt (homemade), nutritional yeast, and wheat germ out of a human dish, so today she had the yogurt and yeast for a snack. Totally on a raw diet now except for about a half cup of kibble a day, and hopefully the psychiatric meds are mostly out of her system.

I haven't forgotten Maui, I think about what happened and what is happening every day. I know there were white people in the burn area, but I think it was just more of U.S. genocide, and I am infuriated by the missing children. Did they ship them all to some pedophile castle somewhere?
