#TUNESTR ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sCeMJ8cMgg
Legendary epic song that I just HAD to post, holy heck O_O!!
Lol, der Gedanke ist Lustig - aber das würde keine Religion der Welt jemals zulassen - zu eitel und verkrampft. :D
Viel Spaß im Urlaub!
Dooting into the night~
...before I pass out and go to school tomorrow :(
I need more vacation -.-

Was slouching over operatorhub.io while looking for a replacement for the meh Zalando Postgres Operator and came across this: https://move2kube.konveyor.io/
Pretty neat, actually. Does what it should. o.o
Too blind; my 3D-fu is terrible as I lack depth-vision and thus imagination since birth. The amount of doors and walls I have ran into due to this is kinda crazy. xD
I would LOVE to have that though!
Ew. Big corpos fapping about their fat clouds and omega kubernetes integration mambo-jambo.
Dude, I've been running and working with Kubernetes (k3s) for quite a while now and its a pure pain in the ASS.
None of those operators work as intended.
kubectl's CLI syntax is longer than any porno actor's dong.
The Go API requires shadowing/renaming because who the fuck knows what the "corev1" object is?!
I am learning this API - since months, mind you! - JUST to write my own Postgres operator that actually DOES what it SHOULD. Create a cluster, create a database, create a user and just spawn a secret with a generated password so you can't accidentially leak your secret via GitOps in the first place.
Bah.

I wonder if there are rack mounts for phones.
Why?
I could turn old phones into micro servers! XD
Grab a USB power bar as a makeshift PDU, pop them in, root them, put Termux on them and just give a fuck about Android and use it as "the thing that boots it".
One, Amethyst. Technically two with Primal, but it doesn't like my folding phone a whole lot x) Don't think I need much more...
Well... this is a thing... and I kinda like it. xD Hilarious as hell, sorta adorable but also...really, really, REALLY weird o.o

And I had thought Recall had put a hold to this stuff...

Oh man... also, why Python?! x.x
Pre-existing environment with provisioning and Influx and a data structure I am not too aware of. So, I'll just learn the whole thing to cover any and all grounds.

GM! Spent the last three days binge-reading the Grafana docs at work, getting to know every nook and cranny - since nobody at work bothers to do so while watching them shoot themselves in the foot with a mashine gun xD
I want more vacation...
@npub1ye5…knpr this would be so cool, if all of the wiki links in his example weren't broken. Hasn't worked for weeks.

When exporting to the NAS, I had a write spead of about 40MB/s. When reading ON the NAS fromt he same HDD - but now attached locally and not via NFS - I got almost 10x of that (granted, some of that ought to have been cached on the SSD).
That's how you notice you have to upgrade your network, cables and switch. Oh my god o.o...
It's Twitter almost 20 years ago. Free, open, fun.
Don't mention the Bitcoin/Sats aspect out of the gate. Most people don't like that...
Myself, personally, Nostr feels like the internet as it was back then - at least in theory.
Oh wow, 5Mbit mehr. Gerade genug um die ganze Werbung ein tickchen schneller durchzuquetschen xD
#note1yxz…rd7m
Gonna redo my relay list; haven't done that in over half a year.
Suggestions for good relays? #asknostr
Bitcoin VM almost moved... holy shit it really took almost an entire day. Just making sure my copy of the chain is in one piece and permissions are correct before moving the VM itself (incus export/import). x.x
The only reason I still keep it because I _do_ have some sats. Not enough to spend them (no channel balance fulfilled properly) but not too few to just throw it into the ether either. o.o...
It's fun looking at trending and realizing that _nothing_ has changed since the day I joined.
- Odell is in trending.
- Politics is mixed in from any corner of the spectrum.
- GM! (I love those, ngl.)
- Random drama about Bitcoiner shenanigans - and, really, a LOT of it o.o...
- Two to three actually interesting and worth-engaging-with posts.
I still love #Nostr though. It's the place where I can vent, shout and moan about shit because (technically) nobody gives a fuck ^_^. None of my friends read my feed and the few that interact with me are just as much of a nerd as I am and I love that :D
The quality of our police and public transport has been on a decline, often cited as "not very attractive places to work at" - so even people with an asshole attitude get hired. Let alone the powertrip some of those people get - "making a big one" or just finding something worth bragging about often overwrites the morale codex they were ment to adhere by.
Our police is generally toothless in law, but stupid in practice and incredibly dense in person.
Moving my bitcoin node has proven much more difficult than I anticipated... trying to smash almost a TB of .tar.gz into NFS didn't exactly work as expected. xD So it'll take longer to transfer... eh... can't be helped, I guess. x.x
#neat https://github.com/cminyard/ser2net
And don't follow yourself. No need for that, anymore.
Now, that I solved for "following people to curate my feed and control access to me", by using more personal and private relays, I've been trying to figure out what a "follow" is, for me.
I've got a pattern for that, now.

Daaaaamn I don't even recognize it anymore O.O
Looks so good and clean now!
Guess this is where Snort's development went, huh... x)
Thanks for the pointer, quite liking this new UI a lot.
Sadly, I couldn't post the above as a comment there. It signed the event, but got...stuck. o.o
"Just fucking do it."
"You can't make an omlette without breaking some eggs."
Especially the latter; you can't learn or achieve something unless you are willing to break something in the process. For instance: When learning Kubernetes, expect to shoot your cluster. Its normal, it happens, you learn from it. ^^
And now over to #Primal to see what the sitch is here.
I had mainly used #noscl or #rabbit the past few weeks...so I felt like it's time to check back if these clients - Primal and Snort - now work properly in Brave or not.
Snort is still missing a crapton of images, and Primal? Well, we'll see...
Heh. Some things never change, do they (:

Watching mdadm sync two 8TB disks is like watching snails race.
It takes forever...
But hey, Rome wasn't built in a day, and after this is done, my NAS is finally back up and running properly... phew... only took roughly two months x.x oh my god.
This series of hardware and software failures was insane, intense, and annoying as fuck, let me tell ya.
All that because an eMMC chip failed, likely due to plugging in a 4GB microSD from china, which probably caused a devastating chain reaction...
#pain
Been forever since I last used #Snort
What's new? o.o
Received my Radxa Rock5 ITX and it just barely fits into my SuperMicro case... finally I have a NAS again. The case has 4 HDD slots, and the board 4 SATA ports. mdadm is still replacting the 2nd array, but hey, it's online. xD So I can finally move my btc/cln instance to an NVMe SSD! :D It'll be less draggy and more worky now, woopwoop!

Scalpers can suck a massive cock. Tried to get the DragonBall Z Sparkling zero collector's edition for me and a friend but the second it SHOULD have been available, it wasnt.

So I was trying to help a bloke on r/nostr debug his NIP-05 and decided to check if my Primal NIP-05 still existed.

Nostr n8n, anyone? https://docs.n8n.io/integrations/builtin/app-nodes/n8n-nodes-base.matrix/
Looking at this as a way to give my non-dev collegues a way to make automations without needing to do, yknow, dev stuff. xD
My collegue across the room is so mad at ODBC driver for MySQL and it not wanting to work properly. Its so fun to listen to our support staff fighting with windows...and the lack of logs and error messages (and details of such) xD
Testing v0.dev ... and I love it, honestly. Wish I could fully selfhost that, but this is really good stuff. Nice UI and it can help me do what my visual impairment can not :3
Listening to Psychostick while working is fun. Love that band a bunch <3
Yeah, unfortunately, jobs pay fiat. 🙈
Does anyone know how to self-host oddbean?

I think I'm being rate-limited or something. Got a warning.
I'm not broke. I'm rebelling against rampant consumerism, by refusing to purchase anything other than food.
Being broke just made me into a rebel.
Knew there had to be some upside.
Yeah, nuts. They used to just die all the time. Like miners, before they came up with helmets.
They're borrowing longer (mortgage), to protect themselves against consumer-price inflation, and investing shorter in a real asset (stocks), to protect themselves against monetary inflation.
People do the same with Bitcoin.
Nostrudel, Amethyst, Nostter, etc.
ReplyGuy is no longer replying. 😅
How many people regularly look at their global feed? ✋
My global is so neat, now. Not just the one from my relay; from a whole list of relays. All pleasant relays. 😊
Yeah, hashtags are nice. I sometime search for them. Or I click on them, when someone uses them, and scroll through the results.
Just realized that changing clients all the time cause me to drop wheat from my list. Added it back in.
I'm legit stuck with it. It's driving me nuts. 😅 I've tried everything.
But sometimes it doesn't work. Just freezes up. Weird.
You can tell who the popular npubs are because every damn thing they post has like 50 reactions and 20 zaps. Even if they just accidentally typed two letters and pressed send. 😅
Almost all other notes have no interactions. Complete bifurcation.
I suspect that most people hardly see anything at all, in their feed. Because they only follow the very top accounts and never look at global, their feeds are note deserts.
How does your result overlap with the nostr.watch data? Are they looking at fewer relays or are they filtering out more of them, to get their 700ish result?
This is my current stream. 🍿

Just looking directly at a relay stream is a fascinating experience. You don't really understand what Nostr even is, until you've experienced "global".
I hate that I have so many people spread over so many networks because I just want to look in one place, to see if they've written me. It's like Telegram, Signal, Slack, Nostr, Threema.... and then begin at the beginning, again.
Just say "No" to cancel culture.
I only know of https://hotrightnow.nostr1.com , but I think it doesn't scan images. That would be next-level.
Like that header. 🤔

😅 Maybe because I'm old and half-blind.
The same one in my Nostrudel border.
Well, our wss://thecitadel.nostr1.com relays is an OtherStuff relay, that we are going to put the Alexandria books on. So, it's the primary building that the library lives in. And we're going to make it so that you can wander through the library and find interesting books, by labeling the books and clustering similar books together.
The wss://christpill.nostr1.com relay tends to have lots of bible and religious stuff on it, and we'll probably we cross-posting to their, from Alexandria.
There could be a cooking and baking relay, where notes end up, when people label them with # foodstr or something.
Well, that's what topical relays are like, right? Like a magazine rack.
Well, neighbors aren't necessarily friends, right? And they're not fans, right? But they're also probably not our enemies.
They're just people we tend to be near, because some accident of fate located us near to them, and we bump into them or cross paths, regularly. We say, "GM 👋 ". We stand at the fence and tell them about our last hike or how we've changed our diet and which books we're reading. We really like each other, or we sort of don't, but we prefer to keep on good terms because humans are social animals and we like having someone familiar respond to our "GM" with a "GM".
And we instinctively know that the people we keep bumping into, over and over, are somehow more significant than a random selection of people. And we also somehow sense, that the people they choose to hang out with, would probably be people we'd be interesting in meeting, than a random selection of people. So, if they invite us over to their house for a party, we'd be more likely to agree, than if some complete stranger did.
And where do our neighbors live? They live in the place next door. Well, what is "next door" to a relay? A different relay, of course! That's where our Nostr Neighbors live: they live in the relay next door.
https://image.nostr.build/d968288c7e4f365d024f25f768d264e20a2b7570fe3bbb63c4bd6763853192a6.png
This is the beauty of the #outbox model. It allows us to disintermediate the really big streams, into a bunch of brooks that cross-cross and meander.
This is what my stream looks like.
https://i.nostr.build/EkFinQtAmKMr49Kz.jpg
#nevent1q…d5pt
I've been thinking about this a lot, lately.
Why do we have these "recommended follow" lists, for newbies, that invariably lead to a zillion people following 100 people? Cuz the big, free relays are so full of crap, that everyone only looks at their follow list feed. After all, how else are you going to find something worth reading, in all that mess, if you can't look at the relay stream?
Well, the best answer is:
YOU LOOK AT A BETTER RELAY STREAM.
What is a better relay stream?
A STREAM SOMEONE IS ACTUALLY WILLING TO LOOK AT.
But doesn't that censor people?
NO, BECAUSE ANYONE CAN BUILD THEIR OWN STREAM.
We can share streams. We can have overlapping streams (by syncing our relays with #RelayNeighbors). We can have custom cobbled-together streams from different topic relays and geographically-limited relays, and a couple of personal relays.
We can have streams consisting of 1 stream or 15 streams, from all over the planet. There should be no SinglePointOfTruth on Nostr, or even TenPointsOfTruth, just lots of plebs hanging out with people they wanna hang out with and reading stuff about things they find interesting, and basta.
https://image.nostr.build/717520697f282a9a414e0d911d7b693ed53d4bb1f276a74eaaa7546de41a700b.png
That delay must be why I've been having trouble with Amber. It seems to struggle with AUTH.
I made got rid of AUTH-on-read on my outbox, by the way.
🥳 We're relay neighbors, now!
The guys are all really sad that the style change meant we no longer have everything in hot pink. I insist, once again, that pink is an underrated color.
https://image.nostr.build/b1f55b05176d0713fb4b513d8a03e1eed391e15fbeb0d5f6e3802a5bf5721fed.png
Which common fonts are the left ones closest to?

The one on the left reads so much better. Wow. Huge difference.
Test of writing to your relay from Nostrudel.
Another question: Do you back the list up, somehow, in case someone gets overexcited and accidentally deletes them? Or should we export the list?
🤣
My follow list was also a mess, except when it had just been nuked.
Ahhh... clever. That's interesting.
Me: Hmm... I could just copy in their follow lists! 💡
Me, half an hour later:
https://media.tenor.com/kReVPYNG9jMAAAAC/10.gif
Are duplicates allowed intentionally, or is that just something you hadn't checked for, because you weren't expected 7 people to moderate one relay? 😅
@npub10np…tl5h do you auto-remove duplicates?
Please enter individual npubs, and only if they aren't already whitelisted. (just search the page for the hexID number)
But don't just copy in your follow lists, as I've been looking at them and some of them are buggy (@npub1wqf…qsyn check your json), full of abandoned npubs, and have spam and impersonators and stuff, in them. It's a bit of a mess. 🫣 😅
Just go to https://relay.tools/ and login, by clicking on the circle on the top-right. Then select "My Relays" and then click on TheForest. Then go down to the menu item Access Control Lists and you can edit the list, there, by entering people's npub or hexID.
https://image.nostr.build/b2a992b1e656a505e923b7bbdd22a748dd68f19ac10c64c839c35e04fdd6aeb9.png
Okay, it's now only write-protected and not read-protected @npub10np…tl5h . And I added @npub1wqf…qsyn
@npub1m3x…a5sf @npub1q6y…t3sh @npub1ecd…s735 @npub1356…805u @npub1qdj…fqm7 and @npub1s3h…75wz as moderators. You can all edit the allow list and add anyone you think I've forgotten.
It's now a GitCitadel-associated relay, which makes sense, since that's who's paying for it. This can be the default relay for our products, for all the socializing stuff, like comments and highlights.
If you're on the computer, you can just use Nostrudel and setup a local relay as an app relay for writing. Then you can toggle the writing on-and-of.
If you're on Amethyst on Android, use Amber and Citrine, and then you can write only to your local relay, by selecting it in the writing form (click on the symbol above the text-entry field) or by adjusting the settings in the relay management page.
But, increasingly, the relays themselves are going to allow you to define what goes where and to whom.
wss://theforest.nostr1.com
I'll add yours to my write list! 😊 I'll be using that list for relay syncing, soon, so I'll remember to get the hookup with y'all.
You and @npub1r8u…fjwl are already whitelisted. 👍
Relays are there, to determine what you MIGHT want to see.
Lists (including follows) are there, to determine what you DEFINITELY want to see.
If your global feed is something you would never want to look at, directly, you might want to adjust your relays.

And we're purple, instead of pink, like before.
We have some private webpages, but we also have some public ones coming soon, like a hosted #Alexandria instance.
Hello. We look a bit different, now.
https://gitcitadel.eu/
I usually build from scratch, too, (have to, builds don't work), but I like to try out the builds, first.
I do. It's the same with the repos. I'm probably the only person using the builds, for instance. Most build from scratch and there are only like 3 other devs even using it. 😅
It's usually only regular users who encounter the problems. We both tend to try new things out, every day, whereas most people have a few clicks as a routine, twice per week, and they don't waver from that.
https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/design/discover/media_181bfeb40261164f888b8e3a538a5a49fab1b322a.jpeg
Just checked. Serif easier to read at smaller scale.
Maybe because the horizontal lines make it easier to read?
Can it automatically tell, to write like that, since the first words are capitalized?
I should do that with the Bible books. I've been waiting, for us to finalize the changes to the spec, so that I can transfer everything to Asciidoc, from Markdown, and then clean it up. But that sort of lettering is so classy, fr. Antique.
Everyone on X has an alt. 😅 Completely pointless and childish.
They want everyone on the planet to see, except These 20 Naughty People.
Let me update the documentation with the screenshots.
Oh, good grief, that looks so lovely. I'm gobsmacked.
I don't have a million sats, unfortunately.
...and 35 are from me. 😅
But, that's interesting. I thought maybe 5 or so.
Alby Hub is down.
That's actually different from the Minibits issue, but it means I'm down on both wallets, now. 😅
You have to get in early, when people are still willing to work for €50k, sorry. Difficult to jump in, at the €500k mark. That's the "distribute the spoils" phase.
I know more people that have been grossed out by it, than turned on, but Bitcoin contains its own acquisition-incentive, as a money.
A team that is too deeply integrated into a movement is just a cluster of followers. It isn't capable of independent or novel ideas, and won't add much to the overall effort, beyond what the individuals would each add.
It has to make sure everything will be approved by the movement, particularly the leaders, and will just emit more groupthink and make incremental changes. It's a mere spin-off, not an independent organisation.
Spin-offs are useful, but if you only have spin-offs...
The video is actually kinda sinister.
Yeah, a team is an attempt to maximize the efficient use of available resources. It's something inherently capitalistic (a group leveraging their joint labor and the means of production, to increase productivity, in the hope of eventually increasing profits).
A movement is just people imitating the behavior of someone prominent and paying them homage, in the hopes that some good things will spring out in return.
I've compared it to a cargo cult. If you write in ALL CAPS or cheer the appropriate OpenSats post, and jump through their hoops, the lightning gods will make Bitcoin rain down on you. And that really does work, so it'll just stay that way, forever. Only a few oddballs, like us, will even try to do their own thing.
Teams, tend to be self-directed and have their own ideas of what they want to do or where they want to take their projects. They will resist submission because they have their own internal leadership.
There are no teams in a cargo cult.
You're out of your league, here. Have fun with that. Bye.
I should probably show more devs how I did this.
Tony was just pulling the API list, on the fly, and had some relays hard-coded as a fallback, if the list wasn't reachable.
It's over 700 relays, now, though. Takes forever, unless you use threading or something. Or workers. Only really worth it for a wide search or for broadcasting delete events.
https://api.nostr.watch/
#nevent1q…gge7
Why do even 3090s still cost 500€ - and those with a blower-style cooler 2k€?! Madness...
Did you just change that, as it wasn't working the day before yesterday.
We already have a castle icon, for a different product.
Keep trying to zap you. Minibits is acting up. 😅
The style fits the stuff my daughter has been working on, well, and she didn't have one for GitCitadel, yet. We were going to use a castle for thecitadel.nostr1.com relay, and didn't have anything for the gitcitadel.com website.
I suspect we'd have more luck forming teams, if the people forming the teams aren't devs. Devs always think, "I'll just build it all, myself." Someone who needs help building, will look for help.
Your daily reminder that @npub1ecd…s735 is always right and his timing is impeccable.

One man's terrorist, is another man's freedom fighter.
You act like some of us haven't been dealing with stuff like this since the 90s.
Wake me up, when it gets exciting because a government or international corporation is the one sending the bots. This was barely a warm-up.
There are other people on here, including in this thread and reading this thread, who are in a similar position, but who are staying completely calm because they saw this coming and were prepared for it.
This was going to happen, sooner or later, and we're actually relieved that it happened sooner and we can deal with it, now. There were some clients and relays who had a lackadaisical attitude toward spam-prevention, who just got caught with their pants down. That hurts all of us, but it's on them. They now have a chance to clean up and improve, before we have millions of people on here and such a circus makes the front page news. Or they can give up and make room for better engineers.
Effective risk mitigation is part of the job.
When the network is crawling with spambots, but you don't see them.

This was not a test of Nostr. This was a test of Nostr devs.
Look at your client coders and your relay operators. See how they're responding. This is information.
* Did they stay calm, or even chuckle about it or roll their proverbial eyes?
* Do they see an upside in the test, _even if they failed it_? Are they maybe even making plans to start running such experiments, themselves, in a test environment?
* Did they immediately announce ways for you to mitigate the problem, by adjusting your settings or switching to a different relay?
* Do they even really understand how relays work or why relays are useful to fight this sort of problem?
* Did they even notice the problem and act, or are they wherever, doing whatever, the whole time? (Some have still not noticed 🤦♀️ and others just permanently pulled down the relays they were passively hosting.)
* Are they still beholden to the "all relays have to store everyone's notes, regardless" mantra, or are they willing to man up and have an actual opinion of what they will -- and will not -- tolerate on their property?
* Are they whining, begging for mercy, or otherwise behaving like someone not in control of the situation, or faced with a problem that is beyond their capacity?
* If people were fleeing clients, which one(s) were they primarily fleeing? Those clients did not properly onboard those users, by over-obfuscating the infrastructure, so their users took the only solution open: THE EXIT.
To all of the devs whining about having to deal with an almost-real production environment for 5 minutes:
If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.
If stupid shit like EmojiReplyGuy can take your system down, then it deserved to be taken down. Get a different day job, bro, or...
Get up. Move faster.
The devs should be organizing these tests themselves. Tests like this should be running all day, every day, fully-automated on a build server.
Load tests, penetration tests, interoperability tests, speed tests, regression tests...
Can't set up a communications protocol and then skip testing the communication layer and just spend all day on custom emojis and trendlists.
You can't see that an OP has replies by looking at the main feed, in Nostrudel, and it's not indicated anywhere on any note, in Nostter. Usually, I post a note and then discussion happens from the notifications tab. But that doesn't actually display all of the replies. People write me and I don't respond for days, sometimes, until I accidentally stumble upon their response, someplace else.
On theforest, I post a note and can see the replies trickle in, in real-time. It's immediate, but unthreaded, until I click on the note and see the previous one(s) listed above the current one. (I guess the previous gets pulled in, when I open the current note, so threading is on-demand.)
LOL maybe. I think there are some that block excessive hashtags.
I think the other feeds sometimes get stuck, or something. Notifications, especially. If you reply to anything, I can see your reply on https://theforest.nostr1.com , but I need to go to notifications, to see it on most other apps, and that is always noticeably slower and more-limited than the main feed because reasons. 🤷♀️ And each one displays notifications at its own pace.
It's all sort of mysterious.
Hard disagree. We've been complaining about these vulnerabilities, ad nauseum, and they just ignored us. They have known about all of the problems and they simply refused to fix them because fixing things doesn't get you street cred, around here. If the test had been pre-announced, they would have just told everyone that it's just a test and to ignore it and come back in two days. Everything is kept buggy and sloppy because of the small market, but that just gave us all a taste of the sort of market we want to aspire to be, and the quality that we need to produce to service that market.
They only responded because it created mass-chaos and they weren't emotionally prepared and they had no idea how long it would last and everyone freaked out. That was needed, to break through their lethargy.
I repeat: THESE WERE KNOWN ISSUES, FOR AT LEAST A YEAR. THEY REFUSED TO FIX THEM.
Give the ReplyGuy a 🏆 . Nostrich of the year, as far as I'm concerned.
That's one of the main ways governments are now ending up with all of this Bitcoin. They don't crack the encryption. They just track the packages moving around and narrow the list of possible suspects down, find the most-likely ones by surveyance, and then arrest them and shake them until the keys drop out.

Just do it like Onedrive/Sharepoint split. Then you could work on things offline and sync with the cloud relay, when you're online again. And you could keep some things entirely offline, if they were particularly private or in draft format. You could download a book to read on ePaper, for instance.
If they sync, then they don't have to have identical content, you just have to mark the stuff -- or the type of stuff -- you want to stay synced. Like, not much point syncing most kind 01 notes, as that's immediately-consumed chatter, but books, articles, technical documentation, git proposals, etc.
Which just means the rate of foreign-borne workers is probably significantly higher than 20%.

#asknostr Looking for an audio guy who could do a quick loop of the end of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3s5-8gtdbU&t=257s
It is timestamped roughly where the outro of the video begins. Found it at Zedge, some random ringtone website, and the quality was meh. So i'd love to have a proper quality to use for a ringtone!
If you have a second and can cut some good loops, would very much appreciate that.
Thank you <3
Also apparently had the kind as '5' instead of an integer. Doh! 😅 Took me forever to see that one.
I think I found it. I was tidying up the code and accidentally moved the k tag under the tag call, so it seems to produce a second event.
That might be it.
He had a delete script, too, that ran on nostr-tool, but it doesn't work right now.
I can just download the full nostr.watch API list, like he did and run through it. Didn't want to do that, if I can avoid it, as it spams everyone's relays, but oh well.
Seems to automatically produce a kind 01 and hang the kind 05 on it. 🤔

We are all early adopters of Lightning and Nostr. This stuff is all still very beta.
I mean... Bitcoin is also sorta beta. 🙈
Getting totally eaten up by fees, with the small amounts I'm sending, but the Alby is custodial, so I can't collect a larger amount there and then send it, all at once. Moving things peu à peu to Phoenix, and from there over Boltz to my hardwallet.
This is all crazy-difficult. 😭
I had to make an LN invoice from Phoenix, with a specific amount. That worked. I'll probably move the money over Boltz, once I collect it all.
Thanks for your help, guys! 😊
I just tried bc1 to Phoenix and Electrum, from GetAlby and both didn't work. I've now sent it to Phoenix over LN, with an invoice. At least, it's then off of the custodial address.
I don't see where I can enter a bc1, only ln

BUT HOOOOOOOWWWWWW???? 😅
It's custodial, so I can't just close the channel.
I've only ever been able to move them in the other direction.
How do you move your sats from a LN wallet, like Alby, to a bitcoin wallet?
Ah, yes, it does. Nostrudel shows deleted notes as empty notes. Interesting.

https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/761#issuecomment-2340019397
There's no such thing as a profile pic update. There's just a kind 0 event, so if you block updates, you block any change to the profile.
You would have to locally cache the pic and then never clear the cache (which is a bug, not a feature, sorry), list the NIP-05 next to the handle in the notes (easiest fix), or use NIP-81 (which is work to implement, but has the most long-term potential).
On Nostrudel, I can only toggle write-access, not read-access, which is frustrating. Guess I'll go back to only my mailboxes.
@npub10np…tl5h do you have a solution to the ReplyGirl, ReplyGuy, and the "subtle reply anon" bots that are flooding the feeds?
#Nostr is where you can have any profile you want, so long as it never changes.
The consequences are objectively smaller.
Should I adopt his profile pic and handle? 🤔
Most people like the profile pic changing. It's the only personal touch our profiles really have.
But no. We don't do that here. We are all anon here or we want to be frozen in time at 22.
For every person who is horrified at seeing my new PfP, there are at least 10 who can't see the new PfP and ask me how to fix that, because the clients cache everything and the relays refuse to update profiles, even if I broadcast it. People are still zapping me on Alby because they can't see that I changed to Minibits, so I had to link the wallets.
Every client currently displays a different version of my profile. Some from over a year ago.
And I'm the only person who can prove that because most other people are literally terrified of changing anything ever. Which is just going to get worse, if every typo correction or new banner image results in thousands of people receiving a message in their client. Everyone now knows that they can't change anything because it creates a flood of spam, and there's no point in changing anything, as so many people refuse to accept it or don't even see the changes.
Profile stasis.
Also doesn't make sense to bother with cryptographic keys and NIP-05s, if users insist on identifying people they know by picture. Anyone can just copy my picture link and put it in their profile. Same with my handle. It is not a unique identifier, it's just a convenience or decoration.
It's not only risky, it's nearly impossible.
Most clients don't pin notes effectively, or at all, and the timelines are a linear shit-show, so the PfP is the only place you can put a new picture, where most of your followers will see it. I used to just pin them to the top of my feed, on Twitter, and had a painting as an avatar. Everyone arriving new or just curious could see the new picture and the avatar hardly ever changed.
Well, I just unfollowed him, so I hope he's happy with the result.
Okay, I've now responded to the many complaints about seeing changing pictures of me in the profile pic.
Going anon, again.
Profile update. 😀

I just interviewed for a position doing SAP migrations. 😅
Yeah, the prices I named were for something larger or more complicated, like Highlighter.
For someone with a smaller project, I'd probably also do more design/workflow work and help them market. I have a powerful npub.
It wouldn't even only be me. My husband is a software engineer specialized in QA and doing code reviews, and DevOps stuff, and I bet I could get the GitCitadel team to help me out, if the workload rose.
We're also good at Project Management and etc.
Gherkin is always nice, and mockups, screen shots, etc.
I'm sorta overqualified to test the current Nostr projects, but I figure that they might eventually get bigger, and then my market would expand and I'd already have customers.
Testing has fixed costs, is the thing, as I have to "read" into their system and understand their application and business logic, in order to test. Which I'm really good at, but still. It's not much different from coding bounties, in that way, but each testing round would be more efficient, so I'd expect less pay for them.
I'm just finding the other sw projects "out there" so soul-crushing. It's like, I'm trying to end your business model in my side-gig. This is gonna get complicated. 🙄
Hmm... good question. 🤔 If I were paid in sats, I'd probably expect less than from a fiat company, for starters.
I tend to be really fast, which is probably bad for any model that involves paying by hour. I guess, maybe, depends on the size and complexity of the project, with a lump sum per project, maybe 200k sats for a detailed manual test report with improvement suggestions, with 100k for a follow-up test. More for automation.
I see these jobs and apply and they call me up and it's like... ugh. I'd rather be testing Nostr stuff.
Question:
Do you think there's interest in software QA consulting on here? 🤔 Like, a testing bounty or something?
#asknostr
Might make sense to make it separate, in any case, as we might use it for a different application, later.

Another thing y'all think you want, is having a wife with no marketable skills, who just expected you to be the exclusive breadwinner your whole marriage.
That actually sucked for men. It did.
The fact that women could do a lot of things doesn't mean that they all did them equally well. And how hard was it, to serve corn pone, pickled beans, and pottage every damn day? People around here used to eat 15 variations of dumpling and bread, bread, bread...
Nowadays, y'all expect us to cook steak dinners and serve organic vegetable julienne, like you're living in a permanent episode of Downton Abbey. 😅
Would you really want to wear homespun and wear clothes full of patches? Nowadays, you can just go buy new clothes and the seams are straight, and you can just throw them in the washing machine, when they are dirty.
Y'all romanticize everyone's crappy life.
Would my husband trade me in for some illiterate, toothless woman, who smelled bad and served him boiled potatoes and sauerkraut for dinner, and died giving birth to his 12th kid?
Nope.
I think modern men have an ahistorical view of female beauty, so the concept of universal marriage sounds more appealing than it was. We can't go back to that era, and I doubt anyone born today would actually be willing to do so, if they saw what life back then was actually like.
I doubt modern men would be willing to marry many of the women their grandfathers and great-grandfathers were marrying, and they would be dismayed at how quickly women aged.
There is a German phrase "Every child costs one tooth" and women where having 6 kids. You do the math.
If everyone gets a wife, that means you have hardly any choice in which wife you get. Think about it.

We have duplicating Alerts in OnCall - or rather, they just kinda... come back, with the resolution notes disappearing outright. This is so weird o.o...
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. I mentioned Bowie above.
I am unapologetically eurocentered and straight as a rod.
I think, what's mostly changed is that it's become an ingrained part of the culture and people have vocabulary for self-identifying, now.
People didn't call it "queer" or "trans" back then. They'd just talk about how they wouldn't let themselves be caged in by sexual dichotomy.
Remember the shoulder pads? 😅
Even our communion dresses had shoulder pads!
LOL I must be old enough to be your mom, then, because I remember the 80s.
You have to remember that the historical pics and videos people show on the Internet (look, everyone looked like a movie star!) is often showing views of people in the upper class. I was in the working class, so I was seeing normal people.
People were thinner, but that often actually made their faces and figures less appealing. A minimum of fat hides asymmetry, reduces facial aging, and makes womens' figures curvier. Women had no boobs.
The androgyny was off the charts. I'd forgotten about that, but watching some flashback documentaries and everyone looked androgynous. Both from their physiognomy, makeup, and from the fashion.
I guess they died out.
People are better-looking, now, than when I was a kid, but you can't tell because so many of them got really really fat.
I don't really get the point of man-caves.
Around here, men stay in the living room or their office. Woman are in the kitchen. The kitchen has a comfy chair or an Eckbank, but it's like a train station.
It's the wives who need a room of their own. 😭

Imagine this:
You have a relay on your phone, with read access limited by thumbprint or password, that stores the notes from your private chats.
You have a relay on your company laptop, with your local copies of the documents you work on, and they auto-fetch every 5 minutes and indicate any changes your colleagues made, that have been pushed to the department relay. But you can ignore that and just focus on your local files.
Your boss has access to your depf. relay and to the one for the personnel department and to the one for his second department in Paris.
You also have access to the Inhouse Design Team relay, whose members are spread out all over the company's international offices.
These relays are all authorized and/or behind a VPN, and function as part of the intranet. Your company also has an Internet relay, with their marketing blog, support ticket webform, and the sales website.
Your Design Team calendar, your dept. chat, your documents, your to-do list and kanban board, your eBooks, your code, your media, your UML diagrams, your LLM... is all searched for and found through the relay.
It serves your files up.
I love that the relay guys are coming onboard with providing different relays for different use cases.

Alexandria, however, is not a replacement for a long-form, microblogging, or wiki client, as those are specialized in navigating those event types, which is its own science. We will simply be displaying each individual one, listed in a 30040, as if it were a 30041.
And we will eventually have an ePaper version (tending toward PHP, on this one, like with the upload utility), that will allow you to download an ePUB of the 30040, or to navigate a 30040 offline, as HTML versions of the events (perhaps including the linked data, once removed, so if a wiki page included in the 30040 has internal wiki links, we'd download those wiki pages, too, so that you can click the links and see something). The switch to Asciidoc makes that easier to implement.
@npub1s3h…75wz is all about the data. You'll slowly start to see test data appearing and eventually being reformatted, that makes the underlying concept more visible.
We will not be building a twitter clone, but we will eventually be including highlights and replies (probably not kind 01 replies, tho).
This thread includes an example of PlantUML and LaTex, for those who are wondering what those are.
And LaTex is how you can write confusing text like in the picture below in blue, but get a pretty formula displayed. This allows us to use Nostr to store scientific journal articles, broken down into sections, that can be included in other articles directly or by forking the event and including your new cloned section.
https://i.nostr.build/0ScCqXwWlC2YHSET.png
For those who aren't familiar with PlantUML, it allows you to describe a diagram in human-readable text, and then it displays it as a picture.
So, your text would contain code like this:
``` PlantUML
@startuml
left to right direction
skinparam packageStyle rectangle
actor Professor
actor Student
actor Staff
rectangle University-System {
Professor --> (Grade Exam)
Professor --> (Manage Course)
Professor ---> (Access Course Information)
Student ---> (Access Course Information)
Student ---> (Enroll in Course)
Staff ---> (Access Course Information)
Staff ---> (Manage Course)
}
@enduml
```
And that would give you a picture in Alexandria like this:
https://blog.jetbrains.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/plantuml-usecase-diagram.png
In a future version, we will be incorporating more of the various notes and articles events, like kind 01 and 1111, long-form, wiki pages, etc. Then you can add those to a 30040, instead of only using the 30041 events, and they will display correctly in Alexandria.
30041 is only for Asciidoc snippets/zetteln. It isn't mean to replace all other events. 30040 is linked-kind-agnostic. That means you can add anything to the list, that has an eventID, so that it can be added to the list of linked "e" tags. That includes other 30040s. Which means that we'll be creating hierarchical Table of Contents.
The initial Bible has only two levels (because that's all the viewer can handle, right now), so I'm publishing each book separated by chapters. Once we have more levels, we can have the hierarchy like
30040 Bible
- 30040 New Testament
-- 30040 Gospels
--- 30040 Mark
---- 30040 Chapter
----- 30041 Verse
and the actual text would be under "verse".
I'll be putting Einstein's plaintext formulas into their own sections, and when we get the Asciidoc LaTex parser working nicely, I'll change them out for LaTex.
I'll be doing the same with a PlantUML file, so that we can also test that plug-in eventually.
But that's all very much Next Version. 😅 First, we need to get the Asciidoc right and make it easy to upload things.
My husband is both a DJ and a computer nerd, so I get it. 😅
Outgoing introverts have it hard. 😅
I'll be adding the Bitcoin Whitepaper (and handling the preface structure, that'll be a bug-fix to my upload utility), "The Rhetoric" by Aristotle, and Einstein's treatise on Relativity. And whatever else odd stuff I can think up, to challenge @npub1wqf…qsyn formatter and tag parser. 😅
Was thinking of having a "Catholic Daily Digest" entry, with audio and visio files incorporated, and saints' pictures, maps, and etc. As a test for making the daily Bible conglomeration that @npub1njs…7fqx was thinking up. We can pull very different types of information or data into each section, and then mix-and-match the sections for each day. Which audiobook was that, again? I can't find the hyperlink.
I can make an audiobook 30040, like I did for Peter Rabbit, and each audiofile gets a different section, and then we can just pull the relevant section for a 30040 for that day, along with the corresponding Bible excerpt section, and any commentary we can find in a separation section.
Also something like the Hours would be nice.
https://divineoffice.org/
Maybe you were attracted to DJing because of it. You get to attend the party and be involved, but still apart.
Not really. I'm a total social butterfly, but I prefer to work at parties, than mingle, so that I can sit off to the side or stand behind a bar or something, and people come talk to me.
Need them to form an orderly line and not mob me or force me to sit in the middle of dinner table with 20 people. 😅
Adding follows one level out is clevel. That's like filter.nostr.wine. Love that ability.
Each section is a separate event, they're just linked together in a row by the index event. You can change which sections are included, or edit the content of the sections, after the fact, as they are parameterized replaceable.
Someone who is writing a wiki page about Beatrix Potter, could (theoretically, they haven't implemented it, yet) take the first section only, and place that event in the wiki page, as a quote or reference.
Example of a #ProjectAlexandria audiobook, listed by chapters.
#nevent1q…rpvq
I just did this real quick, so I didn't color the background or center the text in the columns, or anything, but this gives you an idea of what the table-based orientation looks like in the viewer.

Here's how each section looks, in my code editor preview. You could also format the sections with a table, so that it looks like on the original webpage. https://librivox.org/the-tale-of-peter-rabbit-and-others-by-beatrix-potter/ Then it's horizontal formatting, rather than vertical.
https://i.nostr.build/MfwdDCh0K1y7GOpG.png
Here you can see how you could do something like that. Each audiofile in the collection gets it's own section, where you can add information and images, and then you can page through the sections and click on the mp3 files, to listen to them.
Sorry that the Asciidoc formatting doesn't let you see the pictures, yet. It actually looks quite pretty, with the original book covers from Beatrix Potter. I think @npub1wqf…qsyn still has markdown formatting setup, but I made him a ngit issue for it.

https://i.nostr.build/bUVrk3lEOa9u5uuj.png
Let me go do an audiobook one. That's a fun idea.
You can use the events for anything, just need to include a link to the .mp3 or .mp4.
Could also use it for a an art gallery, or something. Include a link to the image for each piece in the respective 30041 section and bind similar artwork-sections into a collect with a 30040, so that you get an index on the left and can page through them.
Or a magazine or journal, with the articles each in a 30041, and the 30040 is a volume.
Whatever.
@npub1xnf…lpr5 will you be refunding the 16k fee, since the channel never opened? I had to close it again, and now I'm sitting on the cost.
I'm assuming the cards will be ordered in rows and columns.
We need NIP-22 for our books and gitstuff. Don't want everyone replaying with kind 01s, but that's all there is, now.
Ah, okay, that makes more sense.
It did, actually, because it showed me the same result that my logging was showing me: nothing.
And run it again... nothing.
And run it again... nothing.
It was an infinite loop. 😅 I had a copy-paste error with a getter that called itself. Looked at it for almost an hour and couldn't see the problem, so I was like, let me ask the debugger, and then the stack blew up.
https://media.tenor.com/3MqRZGRy6x0AAAAC/clueless-my-bad.gif
I feel like the card isn't well-defined enough, on the background. Should maybe be a tad lighter, like ToC.
😅 You legit blocked the verb "to be".
Freerse already has this, but I don't know if they're using events for it.
Step 2... have a LN wallet that helps you figure out what address you have. 🤦♀️
Here the book is, all alone, in the card view. It will soon be getting company, tho! 😊
Had to redo all of the logic, to account for the "d" tag construct and having optional tags, and the removal of "content" in the 30040.
https://i.nostr.build/OK6BvvfkBZnJcRbN.png
Yeah, I refactored everything and it started acting weird and I had no clue what was going on. 😅 🤷♀️
Stella is an entire herd of wild, spergy testers.
#ProjectAlexandria is coming along. Here you see some of Aesop's fables.
If you want to better understand how such a an eBook is constructed, you can view the original 30040 event, with the linked 30041 events listed, here:

There is now only one 30040 book on wss://thcitadel.nostr1.com, but it is correctly formatted, including the tags. More will be published soon, for test data, and then I'll republish the Bible books in the updated format.
Had to refactor the whole thing. Took me all day. But it's no long as embarrassingly static. 😅
Finally got my debugger setup, on my new computer, and I immediately rediscovered why using a debugger is a programming superpower.
So what's up in #nostrdev and #devstr ?
I see new #Amethyst releases and Keychat chatter. o.o
Easily one of the best girls. Navia, Nilou, Nahida, Dehya are all in this club for me. ^^
And Yae is ... Yae. xD (C2R1 in 90 pulls - i have never had this much luck neither before nor after ever again xD Nearly had a heart attack...)
Couldn't agree more.

I'm trying to figure out where to find the full wallet address, so that I can connect to another person's node.
Read that one and Oliver Twist. Loved both.
You mean, we just wake up one morning and say it's actually okay to kill people, so long as they're small?
Laeserin with glasses and books, but no pores, zits, fine lines, or freckles.
Software update of my camera is apparently convinced I could use some work. 😂 Could have at least painted my gray hairs, added some mascara, and filled in my eyebrows, while it was at it, geez. Why half-ass a paint job?
Laeserin, but make her AI.
https://i.nostr.build/YnBpelR7p36Q9JS3.jpg
I have that one muted, so I wouldn't see it, but I see lots of others. They're all over GitWorkshop, which makes for a confusing thread, as they appear as replies. Need to write an issue about that.
Don't use Blossom to store plaintext. Put it into 30041 events, as content.
That's literally our project. 😂
Ha ha. OMG so I have to start pulling Bitcoin out of my hardware wallet? I hardly have any! 😭
Yeah. 🤷♀️ I don't get it.
DMed you, but I'll have to read your reply in the morning. Exhausted. GN 🫂
To open the channel. I guess that they can close it, at any time.
@npub1get…0nfm where can I find that out?
I can't figure out why the transaction doesn't clear. Did I miss some step or do I need to increase the savings balance, or something?
Like 20k sats for 900k sats. I think.
I can't find the address.
I'm not running a zeus node, just opening a channel with them.
I'm having a mild nervous breakdown trying to open a channel with Zeus.
Please don't scare me with the fear of force-closing. OMG
What does that mean in actual fees? 😅 This is all like Greek to me.
Going from custodial Lightning to self-custody has been slightly traumatic.
Trying not to give up all hope of a transaction ever clearing ever again...
https://media.tenor.com/SOvEqDFFwwYAAAAC/celebrity-couple.gif
So... what you are all telling me... is that self-custody lightning is sometimes basically impossible to use? And that on-chain transactions are faster, but they're so expensive that they hardly ever make sense?
😭
Well, I'm splitting Aristotle up where I think it makes sense, now, instead of where the last guy thought it made sense, and now it makes more sense, to me.
If that makes sense.
When you have a gigantic book .txt or .md file, and you decide to `Join Lines` and then you have a gigantic wall of text and you can't decide which is worse.

Ahhhh... got you. Okay. Interesting.
Okay, so hard-code everything to 30040/41 for the alpha release?
Send halp. Stuck in LN transaction hell.
https://media.tenor.com/NSYkx4yMDJsAAAAC/please-do-this-for-me-sally-owens.gif
Then we could run a GitCitadel mint and transfer sats in and out of the LN node over our Minibits wallets?

Figure it's worth a shot. 😅
Invoice for one @npub1s3h…75wz LN channel.
https://i.nostr.build/tiGcbmAIveA0eXfn.png
That's just someone sharing his million-sat-channel with other people, tho.
We're running it on our server.
You need a million sats, to send 100 sats.
https://media.tenor.com/uWj28RxGBfEAAAAC/i-dont-make-the-rules-nadia-vulvokov.gif
People keep telling us to run more servers and it's like... soon, I'll need to have my own server farm, just to run some FOSS web apps and send people 10 sats.
I have been waiting for a transaction to clear for almost 4 hours, and it won't budge, so I thought I'd open a new channel, and that appears to have been a stupid idea and a waste of money.
It told me that I had 1 confirmation, but then it was like Psych! Back to zero! 😅
It's been 14 minutes and not a single confirmation.
Does that mean Bitcoin fees are up?
Our Alby Hub LN transactions are slow like molasses, today, including opening a new channel.
I didn't even think of the fact that Asciidoc can already have a bunch of the metadata we can process defined as header fields. 🤔 We should probably map-n-pull that into our json tags.
https://docs.asciidoctor.org/asciidoc/latest/document/header-ref/
Power users will use a batch-script to mass-import with my utility. 😅
Would probably need a draft, for that workflow. A kind 30042 or something, for draft 30040s.
The metadata fields are the same, for 30040 and 30041. It's just that the latter contains content and the former contains a list of events.
Yeah, I saw the title and author lines in the asciidoc header and got confused because there's also a field. Maybe generally have a metadata section at the top of the preview, with the asciidoc header info pulled, for them to edit.
And then we have it prepared for generating ePUB format. We just have to map to the require ePUB fields.
https://docs.asciidoctor.org/epub3-converter/latest/
There will be more optional ones, in the future, depending upon the type of data in the linked events. Like, we'd need "director" for a movie snippet.
So, move author into ascii? Most 30040s won't be cohesive documents, like an original book, but rather someone's personal compilation of documents or snippets. A sort of remix. They won't have an author, but the 30041s might and they'd probably have author in the ascii or the form would get really messy.
Right now, these are the mandatory tags (we need "d" and we need "title" to make "d"):
[ "d", "<identifier>" ],
[ "title", "<full_index_title>" ]
And these are the optional ones:
[ "author", "<author_name>" ],
[ "i", "isbn:9780765382030" ],
[ "t", "<topics about which the event might be of relevance>"],
[ "published_on", "<date in the format YYYY-MM-DD>" ],
[ "published_by", "<publisher of the source material>"],
[ "image", "<URL pointing to an image to be shown with the title>" ],
[ "summary", "<human readable description of the work>" ],
[ "version", "<the volume, edition, or translation included>" ]
German government is trying to go open-source, to save money, but the older public employees keep causing trouble.
Yeah, I know. My last job was rolling out Office 365 and co.
You forgot to mention Power BI. 🤦♂️ Bane of my existence.
Been seeing those around, yeah. I think there's a couple of label bots running around. 😅
And, like, would it be possible to somehow come up with a Standard Nostr Model, that is specialized for events and relays? Does that even make sense or is the data storage system irrevelant to the model?
I'm just sort of ranting incoherently, but it's like...
Yo. Are y'all gonna make me set this all up, for our own project, when basically everyone and their mother is going to want this? 😅
I mean, it starts with really "no duh" applications, like my media server allowing me to tag 20 selfies I've uploaded, and then use them as a basis for generating AI pics.
But what about a community that has a private relay, where they've pulled in or created a bunch of events related to the same topic, and want to tune or prompt an AI to search through their data set. Where is that AI? Is it an add-on service to the relay, from their hosting service? Or is it self-hosted and the relay operator lets them plug it in? Or they self-host everything? Or can they plug in one from the media service provider, that they've been using to digitalize their document images of old books?
And we don't actually need to always use LLM, anyway. You can do a lot with basic machine learning, if you're a dev.
As they say, in this German discussion, you can direct the AI to integrate your own data set into the prompt. You don't necessarily have to train the AI directly.
But even training will quickly be possible on smaller machines.
https://www.heise.de/news/Sprach-KI-selber-betreiben-c-t-uplink-9326997.html
They're already getting crushed by the running costs necessary for AI, especially data storage, analysis, and energy. They're trying to get the processors cheaper, since that's the easiest pressure point, hence the recent NVIDIA crash.
Nostr distributes all of those costs. Since your server doesn't have to do all analysis for everyone, but only cater to your own use case and your own data set, and can run asynchronously -- results periodically updating a data file on the server or generating an event for your (private) relay-- it's relatively cheap and you can buy one of the older or less-powerful GPUs for $700-$1500, or just run it on your gaming PC.
We literally just listed the embedding spec in the NIP repo this week, and you've already lost patience. 😅 Like, give us at least a year, okay?

That's not an opinion, it's a diagnosis.
This mustache will never seize to amaze me. xD

One of the most irritating things about Nostr, are the notes from npubs with high (actually, often absolutely astronomic) follower counts, who declare that follower counts don't matter.
If it doesn't matter, why don't they abandon their current npub and just use single-use npubs for everything?
https://media.tenor.com/y4F1hgtKwUEAAAAC/awkward-oh-no-you-didnt.gif
I definitely want more followers. Please follow, thanks.
I'll also take all of fiatjaf's followers, as an act of charity. Is there a NIP for follower-transfer?
😅
It's very simple at the client level. The complexity is hidden in the event structure. It'll just feel like very simple eReader.
I'm looking for a remote software job, and it's going middling. Luckily, or running costs are really low and we'll soon be moving into his parents' house, so that we don't have to pay rent, anymore. 🥳 Might even be in the new apartment by the end of this month.

Everyone in Europe is tightening their rules and cutting the social budgets for asylum seekers. Suspect there will be an endless supply of one-way bus and train tickets to Germany available, tho. 😏
And Finland, I suppose. They have Welcome Culture, too, right?
Need a community with a dedicated AUTH relay and a moderator that actually looks at the relay content. I read through theforest relay, day after day. Basically like moderating a forum, but with lots of different kinds of data, including videos, books, chats, etc.
You can get AI to give you hints of what to double-check, but you need a human deciding, in the end.
They will all just walk to Germany. There is no border.
Starting in January 2025, the Netherlands will be not be giving rejected asylum seekers anything at all. Not even food, clothing, and a shower.

Overloading information is something I see as a problem with FOSS. They skip instructions and documenation and just dump their code on the market and demand everyone sift through it.
Ah, that makes it difficult, as we're actually a traveling troop holding events in different cities. So, I guess that means, we need to find someone in Frankfurt?
>>Again, men are angry when the event is contrary to their expectation, for the more unexpected a thing is, the more it pains; just as they are overjoyed if, contrary to expectation, what they desire comes to pass.<<
This is a warning to manage expectations, preferable to the upside.
>>Now men think that they have a right to be highly esteemed by those who are inferior to them in birth, power, and virtue,
and generally, in whatever similar respect a man is far superior to another; for example, the rich man to the poor man in the matter of money, the eloquent to the incompetent speaker in the matter of oratory, the governor to the governed, and the man who thinks himself worthy to rule to one who is only fit to be ruled.<<
Calls to humility are an attempt to counteract this impulse. To remind everyone that they are inferior in some things, and that they will be judged by others, as they judge, and that they risk being harshly judged in other aspects.
Jesus seemed to think that rich men suffer this megalomania the worst. Perhaps, as wealth is so easy to quantify and compare, and riches leads to more riches, as larger amounts of wealth allow for different purchases/investments, which further compounds the seeming superiority and invincibility.
>>And the spiteful man appears to show disdain; for spitefulness consists in placing obstacles in the way of another's wishes, not in order that any advantage may accrue to him who spites, but to prevent any accruing to the other. <<
This describes what we moderns call "trolling", where someone misbehaves toward others, merely to cause them pain, and not for some personal gain.
Another issue here, is the deep sense of pleasure that anger raises, due to the increased sense of agency and hope. That is why calls to let revenge be issued by someone else are both disappointing and calming/depressing.
See Romans 12:19-21 ESV, Bible:
>>Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.<<
>>Let us then define anger as a longing, accompanied by pain, for a real or apparent revenge for a real or apparent slight... the angry man must always be angry with a particular individual... because this individual has done, or was on the point of doing, something against him or one of his friends; and lastly, anger is always accompanied by a certain pleasure, due to the hope of revenge to come.<<
I think this is a significant point: that anger is always personal and directed at a particular individual (real or imagined). People are never angry at an idea or a group of people, but at some personal slight or threat, enacted by some person. That is why anger is best induced through scapegoating (to give people a target for their anger) and assigning blame to individuals or caricatures of individuals.
This one is a doozy. Needed to digest it, first. 😅

Yes, Nostr is a digital system with a natural construct and will change and evolve and mutate and keep adapting to its environment.
Sort of reminds me of those robotics engineers building flying machines that look and work like bees and birds.
The #Nostr application landscape grows just as slowly and messily as the protocol does.
But this is what organic growth looks like, and we know that organic structures are inherently resilient because their irregular shape and constant changeability makes them more difficult to attack.
A structure that is quickly erected is often also quickly pulled down.
https://i.nostr.build/rmBYR3oUs7898twO.png
One of the biggest topics, feels like, is information logistics and product placement. Huge areas in Nostr, where everything is very trial-and-error, and apps are inherently difficult to find.
I have a lot of appreciate for Zapstore, as it's given me a Nostr Package Manager, feels like. I hate having to manually download apps. I just want to type "zapstore ngit" into my terminal and have it just roll in. Boom.
This thread is part of that. I'm in charge of marketing, obviously. What does that mean, in practice? Is it all creepy brainwashing voodoo stuff, or is it just good business sense?
I've long been of the opinion that people actually value good marketing skills higher, if they know the "tricks", so there's an advantage to being transparent.
The events and the FOSS add a lot of variables to the design, but first you have to make the marketing decision.
Took us a while to even decide on being FOSS. And we're now slowly warming to the concept of letting npubs "watch us at work", like one of those restaurants with an open kitchen.
You can also market a Nostr app by supporting the wider Nostr ecosystem. Participating in a Nostr marketing campaign, for instance ☺️ , running a relay, self-hosting your LN wallet or running a LN node or a mint, importing data to the relay network, so that other npubs have easier access to it and can reference it internaly, hosting other apps (from other Nostr projects) so that there is a fallback website, submitting issues and PRs to other projects, etc. etc. etc.
Another big thing, particularly on Nostr, is design transparency and adjustablity. The default settings need to be seen as reasonable, but the "innards" of the app need to be clearly apparent and preferably changeable.
high-signal content, i mean
So, the marketing for a Nostr app would include thoughts like:
Will we expect people to pay for using the app? If so, using what model? If not, how will we pay for the app?
Should we list the app on the Zapstore and Google Play, or is it only going to be offered on Obtanium or GitHub as a binary?
Can the users expect 24-hour turnaround time for issues or is it "every user for themselves" and we address issues at our own leisure?
What functions should our app have? What should we fold in from other projects and what should we build ourselves? Who do we expect to use this app and what are features that they would expect or be "wowed" by? What features would repel them and lead to them bad-mouthing us to their friends?
Should we use our personal npubs to announce releases, or have a company npub?
Where do we store the app? How many different locations should we choose and what git servers should run there? Which of those locations do we make public, and where?
How large and performant should our app be and what sort of infrastructure/hardware will it be run on?
Where will the people live, who use our app? What currencies would they expect us to offer, for transactions or denominations? How do they expect items on the app to be arranged, for easy clicking and reading?
Should we consider accessibility issues? What login options should we offer?
What should be in our app documentation and where will we place that documentation? How will that documentation be formatted?
Etc. Etc. Etc.
For those who don't know, the Four Ps are:
Product
Price
Place
Promotion
https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Amal-Ray/publication/342881650/figure/fig5/AS:1028436193734659@1622209704566/Four-Ps-of-marketing-mix.png
1) I try to keep the signal on my relay really high, since low signal is more a market for the big relays.
2) Quick response time. Helpfulness. Watchfulness. Speed of connection/transaction. Concept for dealing with attacks, mediation/moderation, geographic arbitrage, lightning payments, censorship attempts, client authorization, etc.
I broadcast some, to get it onto my node.
I boost some, to make sure my 5k mostly-human followers see it in their main timeline. It helps the person I boost get new followers and helps followers find interesting people, they might not otherwise see.
I'm the Nostr Discovery Algo. 😅
Syncing on your own supercomputer? 😅
Use zapstore, to see if members of your WoT are using the same app.
First rule of marketing:
People who are bad at marketing think marketing is pointless.
Brown or gold, sorry, not green.
He says the difference between blue eyes and gray eyes is that gray eyes have brown or green around the pupil and a dark limbal ring (outer ring), with a bluish-section in between.

I heard it from a colleague.

Our Knowledge Base event 30040 and Alexandria client don't compete with these apps, or make them obsolete. They're eventually going to integrate our Modular Article 30041 event and vice-versa with their wiki events, and differentiate more on the way the data is displayed, edited, organized, searched, etc.
Enjoyed this explanation.

I can think of pretty awesome use cases derived from having a NUD of everything in regular use. Opens up a whole new branch of clients, search and analysis, like @npub1jlr…ynqn said.
Read and learn.

If someone issued a NUD for their own spec, then I could just delete mine and use theirs.
Should I just go ahead and do this? This whole NUD thing seems increasingly like something a lot of people see value in, but there's been no momentum behind it because the events issued had no audience.
I'm the audience, right?

Every time there's movement on the wallet, it feels like a minor miracle. Feels like when I got my first Bitcoin wallet. 😄
I totally hate the emails. I don't even open them, I just see the name of the repo and then go to it and read there.
Didn't @npub1xts…kk5s want to get emails turned into notes to a NIP-05, or something?
Could we use kind 1111 for that?
Agree. Like, I can't go looking in 5 different repo issue lists twice per day.
I have important shitposts to write.
I think we were looking at Lebanon or New England or what passes for hills in Texas. 😅
What do you think it's about?
I think this was the subconscious reason we named our project @npub1s3h…75wz
It was like... and we'll find some mountain top and hang out all day, using git, and cooking. 😅
The universal human need to start a commune with their friends.

Agency. What elites have, is agency. They act.
True. There's actually no great, universal urge to be an elite. It's hard work and sacrifice. Even the elites sometimes want to run away. 😅
This is actually a really amazing time to be alive because people are changing the world by just doing stuff. What Germans call "konkludentes Handeln" ("implied in fact"), where you end up becoming the Person Who Does This Thing by just getting up and doing it.
I mean, we joke about #NostrElites, but the actual Nostr Elites are the people who just, at some point, started doing stuff that needed to get done because they looked around and noticed nobody else was doing it. They put their hand up and said, "Me. Umm... yeah. I could probably do that."
And then they did it.

Teams let people do what they're best at. You can have research/science people and development/craftsmen people and marketing/business people. Each can concentrate on getting really good at their talent, at the same time that they can help out with the other people's tasks or substitute for someone else, while they take a needed break, or just give you useful feedback and a shoulder to whine on.
Symbiosis. Dunno. Feels a lot like frenship.

Well, evolution is genes-and-memes, right? It's not just about one person passing on their DNA, it's also about stronger cultures surviving and spreading. Since humans tend to be related to the people around them, this also results in your DNA spreading, even if you have no direct offspring. The two things are intertwined.
Like, the focus on healthy, fresh food has pushed more people to move out of cities, where they have more living space and fewer distractions. Which causes their birth rate to rise.
In the same way, being on Nostr is more human-friendly than being on legacy systems, and it's created a calmer, more sociable, high-trust environment that is leading to people meeting up in meat-space and dating and we even have our first engagement announcement.
Creating a healthy, supportive, hopeful environment is the basis for human fecundity. People need a safe nest to put their eggs in.
We have lots of young people starting live bands, now. Playing crossover styles.
Ok, this framework/component library is genuely impressive. I might have my final candidate. Now let's hope tree shaking works properly here...

I think building teams, is the answer. People think that's just something for larger projects, but projects tend to get large because they have a team.
One person doesn't scale that well.
I'm not sure how to help other devs find their team. It took me months of scouring the feeds, all day, to find those people, and I needed to find 20 in order to end up with a handful of solid ones.
If you have lots of money on offer, you probably get more candidates, but most drift off, again, or are half-hearted. There are easier ways to make money.
