When I talk to my child about #history and current events, I definitely put my own spin on it. I used to know someone who got #RockyMountainSpottedFever working as a sheep shearer in Wyoming back around when AIDS was new. The doctors didn't even bother testing for Spotted Fever until they knew for sure it wasn't AIDS, which meant at that time, sending a test off somewhere and waiting until the results came back. He survived, but he got plenty sick.
This outbreak is in Southern #California, specific to people who have been in or near #Tecate, Mexico.
Dress and use insect repellents appropriately to avoid bites, medicate your dogs to resist #tick bites. Don't play with tick-borne diseases, it's not worth it.

@npub1tps…9rmt my doctor made it pretty clear to me that she would get fussy if I were smoking it but she thought other use was fine. And it does raise the risk of schizophrenia for certain ages, though I think they don't know whether it causes it so much as increases the risk that someone already prone to it will be triggered.
But I used to know a really conservative guy, a criminal justice major who went on Sheriff ride-alongs, when we were both in college, and he was a big fan of legalization because he saw domestic violence related to alcohol use all the time and the worst crime he ever saw related to marijuana was somebody shoplifting a danish from a 7-eleven.

I think the only thing harder was my couple of months on Medicare a few years ago. That depends a lot by county, though, my mother-in-law has great success with medicare. Anyway, uhc? Just in the last few hours they have upgraded #LosAngeles county's #tropicalStorm watch to a tropical storm warning. It's going to get really wet, folks. I would suggest quickly reading the first chapter of John McPhee's Control of Nature, and then finding a place that is dry and isn't on an alluvial fan or in a wash. I hope the cities that have people living in storm drains and along dry/gentle watercourses during the summer are making sure they are cleared out and the residents given good shelter.

I only saw a few punk shows live ever: In the earlyish 80s I would go over to San Francisco from where I lived in Oakland and try to hit both more mainstream music at the Stone on Broadway and then more punk oriented music at the Mabuhay Gardens across the street on the same night, if I could. I only remember one band name of all I ever saw. I had to take public transit home, and I would crawl into to bed around 4:00 a.m., exhausted but happy.
