How does one make a computer, a #raspberrypi5 , that has #rtc #realtimeclock battery, but that is *not* connected to the internet, adjust its time to summer and winter time i.e. make the 1 hour clock change at 3 am on the relevant days? I am hearing that the #heltec #t114 v2 as a #solarnode can show critical error 12 and permanently illuminated green leb with flash corruption, perhaps due to under voltage when battery in low charge state in some #solarnode setups. A box node with a battery life of about three weeks, whose battery can be solar or usb charged. The purpose of the node is to connect to the main node in the attic of the house or the node in the car. That way one only needs bluetooth connection to the box node.

Ok. Thanks. The aim is to stop the batteries from charging or discharging when outside a temp range? The protector is just a switch the line from the battery? How many do you have? I had a big think about my setup.... and did no thermal switch. Winter might be interesting. These are my battery specs and I am crossing my fingers.

#meshtastic #antenna This is interesting because the trend is NOT to have a long cable to the antenna but shove the node right by it up on roof and outside. This makes it mega difficult to design and do firmwear updates and means one has to have bluetooth to the node or another node to hop to the one on the roof. Plus heat issues and fire issues.I hope you can describe the parts somewhere e.g. https://meshtastic.discourse.group/
so using long cables to the antenna on roof becomes the norm again.

This is a wonderful project. I have concentrated on getting coverage. But I would think that having your own reliable software to use the mesh, is a great next step to getting really independent of infrastructure. I also really do not want to use python in the end. If you have more info about the project hard and software that would be super. Many street lamps etc. have poles that are essentially conical - thinner at the top than the bottom. A node which is a conical collar with a cut-out gap and solar panels around the collar, could be plonked onto poles using a drone to pass the pole through the gap. When to node moves down the pole, the pole will become larger than the gap and you have a deployed node with enough solar panels in enough directions to keep the thing running until the council removes it....

With a so-called "admin" channel one can set the node configuration, once it is in situ and out of bluetooth range, via the mesh. This works over the android app very easily as each node in the node list has radio configuration options and if the node in question is set up to have the admin channel then the settings can be changed using one node to set the other. #meshtastic

Node is now finalised. It has 3 x 4000 mAh protected batteries. They are tested and about 10 mOhm resistance each and charge to 3700 mAh when at 4.2 V. The temperature in the case gets to 55 C when in the sun. This is a bit high & not sure what to do to influence this other than mount the baseplate facing south and the box facing north. The device on a sunny day charges the batteries to 75% from empty, so the batteries & panel are clearly totally OTT for a summer's day. #solarnode #meshtastic

Thanks. I have done it. This works extremely easily even on Android. When the admin channel has been set up all you have to do is go to the node list. Then long-press the node whose settings you with to change. The long press shown the menu "radio configuration". This radio configuration will be available via the mesh & you can set the radio as you wish. If the node you chose does NOT have the admin channel nothing happens when you press the radio configuration option. #meshtastic #admin

(I find it strange that the website does not mention this, or is what the CLI interface is showing on that link above "obviously" just direct messaging?
Question: how does one change settings of a "remote node" using a "local node" via the "admin" channel, using solely by the Android Meshtastic app (or iOS).

Problem: I am looking at the remote administration options here:

and asking myself: if I have set up an admin channel that is set up (same key) in several nodes,
do I need to use the command line to administer the remote node as is done on that website? Or do I just send the same commands by direct message from a "local node" to the "remote node" to set the node settings?

2/3 Status: I have set up a channel called "admin" with the same key in the "remote note" admin channel. I have the same "admin" channel with same key set up in several "local nodes" that I may wish to use to change the settings of the "remote node" using the mesh. I did this using the QR code representing the channels of the remote node and scanned it in the Android app of the local nodes. All the nodes have the same set of channels, and these include one called "admin". I hope this is clear.

I cannot copy text content from #WhatsApp messages in Android 14. This means I have to use a desktop app to use WhatsApp content by copying and pasting things. What is the matter here? Does the #iOS app also operate so terribly ?

#skyrc #mc3000 is a battery charger & analyzer 120€ from Amazon https://amzn.eu/d/0bsrltPF . It has an app called "SkyRC MC3000" in Google Play Store. (The QR code, to get the app, in instructions do not work.) It has a "refresh" mode where it charges, discharges & then charges batteries. All the while it shows "capacity". The video shows the capacity info (and other info) at the end of the refresh program. The image shows what the LCD shows. The capacity in app seems to be rubbish (I hope). 1/2

BTW 18650 batteries with raised pole fit not very well in that device. There is plenty of room it is just an iffy contact at the raised pole end and one should not wobble move or touch the batteries when the program is running.

Well actually I think the info at the end is the capacity as charged. But the capacity info, if you watch it, is shown from ANY charging point. So if you set the thing to charge it just records the mAh from that point. The refresh program goes through a charge, discharge, and recharge. It then at the end reports the capacity... but I do not know at what point, if any, the device re-sets the capacity to zero. Surely the capacity statement at end must relate to the final charge only?

A lot of the #garlic I buy turns out to be in part, or all, rotten when I get it home to cook. Does the price we pay take account of this? I think I buy about twice as much as I use and throw half away, and this over many years. Does anyone know a garlic seller prepared to post me decent garlic at twice the supermarket price? Ich finde auch das die Anzahl von Wölfen in Stadtmitten sehr negativ von der Einzelhandel Branche beeinflusst ist, und die EU sollte Geschäfte mit Verkaufsflächen über 1346 m^2 zwingen 10% der Fläche dem Wölfen zu überlassen (es sei denn, sie sind Biologische Betriebe) #EU #Umwelt

Nur Beispiele für die Stadtmenschen. Krähe stechen die Augen von neugeborenen Lämmer aus. Reife Kirschen werden sofort von Vögel weg gefressen. Viele Insekten vernichten die Ernte. Manche machen es möglich. Wer meldet sich für ein FSJ als Vogelscheuche? Wer meldet sich am Land zu Arbeiten? Man kann sich in Brüssel am Früstücktstisch gratulieren dass jemand verboten wurde die Welt irgendwo Vernichten. "Diese Bauer! Kann ich bitte die Butter haben? Wann geht der Flug, Liebling?"
