We are not in as much control of ourselves as we believe. There are powerful heuristics and evolutionary motivators that we simply aren't aware of at the conscious level.
How often do we retroactively create a reason for our actions after they've already been taken? A reason that is internally consistent with our personal narratives about who we are as people.
I've always been intrigued by this study out of UNSW. They could predict a subjects choice up to 11 seconds before the the subject was consciously aware of it by examining brain function.

This ought to be fun.
Earlier this year, I tried the chat version and got into a heated argument with the AI about historical accuracy and its preachy condescending interactions with anyone who tries to call it on its BS.
Unlike a human, it has no shame nor sense of self preservation. It doesn't recognize when it's about to get punched in the face. Very frustrating
I know. Who's the silly one? The woke AI or the person who tried to reason with an programmed algorithm.
That's me. Tilting at windmills.

So this is my #introduction.
I'm a bitcoin maxi and clinical counselor. I've spent the last 12 years of my career drowning in an ever-deepening mental health crisis. Daily I saw people, especially our youth, being driven literally mad by this fiat world.
I didn't understand why it was all getting so much worse. Then I fell down the rabbit hole and everything suddenly made sense.
That's when I decided to step away from a broken system and move into one with more hope.
I left my job, I left my country, and I decided I was going to provide my counseling services for the hardest money in the world. Be the change you want to see.

My husband has only recently become open to the idea of bitcoin. Before now, it had been the cause of more than a few conflicts in our home during the bear market.
I knew he would come around eventually, the challenge was limiting the conflict in the house until he did.
At the end, I knew it would be NGU that got him on board.

I've noticed that when I want to comment on a post on Twitter, I type something out, realize that it's usually from a place of anger and frustration because of the algorithm, recognize that I'm just screaming into a void and that no one cares, erase everything I've typed, and wander back to NOSTR to have more meaningful conversations.

I've seen teenagers act like heroin addicts when you take their phone away. Screaming, crying, flailing. So addicted to their devices, that they act like they're withdrawing from a powerful drug.
Apparently, we need a new name for the problem now, other than addiction and lack of self control.
Congratulations, we have a new phobia.....nomophobia. The fear of being without your phone.
Surprising they don't have a similar term for heroin addicts without their fix.

I moved to Mexico from northern Canada for health reasons and the health benefits of sun have been extremely obvious to me.
I went from chronic mental health issues requiring medication for 25 years, to absolutely no pills and or drugs. It stabilized sleeping patterns, stabilized moods and I have an overall health and well being that I NEVER experienced where I was born and raised.
I suffered from seasonal affective disorder so significant that I was bordering on hospitalization at times and now I live a healthy life medication free. Depression gone, anxiety under control.
But there isn't a doctor I've found who would recommend it.

I always find it interesting when bitcoiners get angry when Bitcoin is used by people they don't like or in ways they don't like.
That's the point.
It's as though they don't understand this technology at all.
Your enemies will use it in ways that you dislike.
That's a feature not a bug.
It's the equivalent of only supporting free speech for people you agree with. If that were the case we wouldn't need free speech.
People who think like this about bitcoin need to go do more work.

Even if it started off as pandering, Bitcoin has drawn him down the rabbit hole the same way it has every one of us.
To me, he demonstrated proof of work.
