I would not be surprised if we learned that some autistic people experience hallucinations with the same neurological origin as, for example schizophrenia, but in a way that does not really cause problems.

Grey's Anatomy did their half season, and then showed a card that basically said "While real doctor's are still dying, Grey's Anatomy is set in a world where the Pandemic was brought under control", or something like that.
I don't think they've really mentioned it since, but I haven't watched in a while.

Both medical shows and both where I'm sure the on-screen safety stuff made it easier to film during lockdown.

Okay, here me out.
Most of the reason that autistic people have a hard time realizing that they're autistic is because the medical definition and popularly understooding of autism are all from the perspective of neurotypical people who hate us.
It's reasonable to not feel, internally as an autistic person, the way that neurtypical people think we look.

I wish scientists would attempt to develop and evaluate tests for autism and ADHD that seriously considered the internal experiences of teenagers and adults with autism, ADHD, BPD, etc.
- Questions shouldn't validate the bigotry of people who hate us.
- Questions shouldn't prioritize indirect measures that are external evaluations of us by NTs, like "behavior" and "personality".
- Questions should prioritize direct measures that only the person taking the test can answer, like sensory experiences and emotions.
- Questions should describe experiences in the language that neurodivergent people use.
- Questions should include very common comorbidities, and physiological symptoms where possible.
- Questions should minimize how much they center childhood, and not phrase questions about childhood in a dehumanizing way.

What I'd really be curious about if wearing masks for COVID safety reduces any of the social advantages that NTs have over neurodivergent people.
Because a lot of people used the premise of autistic people's sensory issues as an argument against a mask ban.

In BC, to get Paxlovid, you need:
A) Access to a family doctor;
B) Be 70+ years old; and
C) Have 3+ chronic conditions.
Symptoms don't start right away, and it needs to be taken within 5 days of infection, so effectively you also need to be able to get a medical appointment with ~2 days notice.
That's essentially impossible, which means the drug is (in effect) banned.

This is only my personal experience, but I had a lot of friends growing up who were associated with the foster system.
If the foster system cared even slightly about preventing abuse, none of my friends (who were not Indigenous) would have needed to live in constant terror of "family reunification" policies.
Child consent should be an absolute minimum for reunification.
The fact that it isn't is proof that the system doesn't give a fuck about abuse.

In a million years, IT won't give me a compiler.
But I can get Python, via Anaconda or R-Studio or Jupyter or whatever, because people need Pandas and I can pitch it as statistical software.

Like, if the question is "are historical claims made by the bible, about Jesus, true" the responsible answer fits somewhere between "obviously not" and "there is no evidence".
But if the question is "was Christianity founded around a cult leader claiming to be the messiah, who would later come to be known as "Jesus Christ", that seems fairly likely.
The trick is that people point to pretty good evidence for the second question, and claim that as historical proof for the first question.

I was thinking of starting a few small-ish patches in under-used areas of my yard, in hopes it would make them more hospitable to growing a bit of a food forest in future years.

Mint is a very unique flavour. When you substitute mint for something, it's not because it tastes similar to other herbs, but instead because it fills a similar role.
Sometimes, if you use mint instead of something else, you're just not going to get over the fact that it tastes like mint.
If somebody had a hard time with fresh cilantro or basil in a burrito or salad, I would feel pretty confident recommending mint instead of parsley as a substitute.

If you can grow one plant, it should be mint.
Spearmint is easy to grow, it is fun to grow, and you will use it every day if you have it.
Big Herb doesn't want you to know this, but a lot of time you can use mint in place of parsley, basil, or cilantro.
It doesn't work in all cases, but way more than you'd think.
It's also tasty in cold water, or as a hot tea. And you can mix it into ginger ale or club soda for a super tasty drink.
If you plant it in 5 gallon pot outside, it will come back in the spring. Whatever you have left over in the fall, you can freeze or dry.
You want a spearmint (or similar) with big leaves. If you can find it, pick up something like:
- Apple Mint
- Mojito Mint
- Kentucky Colonel
- Pineapple Mint
