I think @nprofile…g4yp is a great solution for “I don’t want to install another app that I’ll hardly use!” I’m already stuck with a couple for 1 – one! – reason each. I used my regular email and will see new messages (but not what they are) even when the app is closed, in the email client that is always open.
So if anyone wants to 💬 (why?!) just ask me. Or go on a quest: my email is my CodePen nick @ mail, owned by Alphabet.

#Mastodon needs to be much clearer when a follow is not a follow, but a request to follow. Right now, at least in my default style, there is only a lock icon, but the big bright Follow button is the same. So I click it, then get very confused for a while why nothing changes.

Who is furious and with whom? I was pretty annoyed by this change, and it was one of the reasons I stopped watching the show and only came back now.

Great example of how conspiracy theories are created.
If you have not seen it but still read this, the short version is that a character gets a lot of information and to make sense all that chaos creates conspiracy theories. In real life, this is often the case: random events are too scary, evil forces behind the scenes are less so.

Can you elaborate on what you want to achieve?
If you want a crosswalk with two other colors for stop/walk, that’s impossible. That’s why crosswalks use a lot of ways to convey the information (symbol, position, sound).
If you want to say/write “green all the way” (meaning “it’s a clear path with no stops” or something like that), then just say that, it’s not offensive to colorblind people (I’m one of them), or be on the safe side and not use analogy at all.

One season left.
#StarTrek and similar shows are great at getting right into the story. When you have 40 minutes, you kind of learn that skill. On the other hand, it’s very rarely a “show, don’t tell” situation, mostly tell and explain, and exposition, and tell some more. That got me thinking about all the radio plays these shows have. Then again, I would need a time stopping device to get to them.

Very, very WIP. Yesterday in 4, maybe 5 hours I managed to do about 80% of what #Eww did. From 0 knowledge of #Conky, which tells me that it might be easier to learn.
Now I just poke at it from time to time, no hurry,¹ adjust things, make something appear in a different way with #Lua. Big things left are images for the weather and custom bars for drives (visually Conky’s defaults are bad).

If you have a way to add your own CSS (https://add0n.com/stylus.html, for example), adding a simple resize on `:hover` is pretty easy. Crude, posts start to wobble, but at least now I can see all those cats better :blobcataww: (of course they’re cats, it’s the internet after all).

To put it another way, if one character is reduced to two or three characteristics or pushed aside by the introduction of another character, I bet it’s not because some writer/producer/whoever is racist/sexist/etc. That’s not an excuse, mind you, but I think most of the people involved in these shows have good intentions but don’t follow through for one reason or another. Which, again, is not an excuse, they should do better, but, in my opinion, a more plausible explanation.

Two seasons more to go.
It’s funny how a lot of complaints about all #StarTrek shows are that the writers don’t know what to do with a lot of characters. Partly this is because the good idea of having a diverse crew needs to be backed up by an execution of that idea, which also requires a diversity of people behind the camera. And partly it is a problem of a large crew: 3 people (Kirk, Spock, McCoy) plus occasionally others they can do well, but a dozen all the time? Hard. B plots help.

@nprofile…295w Hugo is quite flexible (for example, `content/example-post/image.jpg` = `static/example-post/image.jpg`) and can adapt to what you need.
But that’s going to get pretty complicated pretty quickly. So I would recommend two things:
1) Build a site and see what gets moved where in the `public/' folder.
2) Try to make one change at a time, so you can troubleshoot easily.

Dark themes are great for contrast, but, well, dark. Light themes kill my eyes. So if I want something more colorful, or at least warmer, the options are limited. The best KDE color scheme I found is Ambiance-Style Dark, which reminds me of the Human theme, if you remember that one. (Not sure if it works on Plasma 6.)

¹ – From my perspective, partials and shortcodes are deliberately *slightly* different to confuse you.
Creating your own variables helps:
for shortcodes: `{{ $id: = index.params 0 }}`,
for partials: `{{ $id: =. }}`,
and you go from there, but then you spend a lot of frustrating time until you stumble on the fact that you use `.Site.Data.something` to get the /data/something.json file, but in partials it’s `site.Data.something`. WHY?!

If SSGs generate static pages from static files, then JSON files are their databases.
I’ve been poking around and figured out how to generate a page from a JSON (my Backloggery replacement), how to use it to make consistent icons across partials and shortcodes¹, and how to maybe² make a whole minuscule blog (microblog, but smaller) completely from one file, which makes a one command to publish idea even easier, since you don’t have to worry about directories or front matter or anything.

I think it makes sense because it also creates RSS for any “list” you have: taxonomies (tags, categories, etc.), sections, whatever else you have. And it is all customizable.
Fun, somewhat related fact: you can make Hugo output in a lot of formats, PDFs, images, various text files. So you can make it spit back org files :)

This is what I meant by “better alt text”: not just a better description, “a cat squizing a pink heart” in addition to “catlove3” or whatever, but also an easier way to access it. Maybe the zoom thing should also show a text label or something.

TIL that some instances have click/tap to zoom for emoji. Great idea! This should be #Mastodon’s default feature on the web and in the apps. Looking at three by four pixels and trying to figure out if that dog/fox/whoever is smiling or frowning or has indigestion is no fun. Better alt text would also be a good idea.
