To put it another way, if one character is reduced to two or three characteristics or pushed aside by the introduction of another character, I bet it’s not because some writer/producer/whoever is racist/sexist/etc. That’s not an excuse, mind you, but I think most of the people involved in these shows have good intentions but don’t follow through for one reason or another. Which, again, is not an excuse, they should do better, but, in my opinion, a more plausible explanation.
