So I prepped tonight's wings with olive oil, a little Cholula hot sauce, and I added a tad of honey this time. Then I added my dry spices which are a combination of many spices with garlic, fresh ground pepper, salt, and some cajun spices with Tajin. These things have been coming out SO good the last few weeks as I've perfected my recipe and technique.

I made some Lemon Italian Ice last night. It's really good but it's a little more icy than the store bought stuff. There must be a trick to fixing that. Otherwise it;s sweet and tart and delicious and very refreshing.

Today has already been a busy day. I had to get a haircut, grocery shop, do some cleaning, do the laundry, make home made mac & cheese, make an improvised gluten-free "shortcake" by modifying the Pamelas Banana Bread recipe (making some guesses there), and prepping the strawberries.
I will end up doing all of the cooking and everything else, but I won't get to as much cleaning as I wanted.
Really happy with the haircut though.

I know it's not much, but hey, it's the little things. The new Aldi finally opened. When I was back home in NY we had three within driving distance. Two of them less than 10 minutes, and one about 15.
I like a lot of their stuff. They have a very nice organic and gluten free section these days.

Updated an older laptop to the latest LTS Ubuntu Studio. I pretty much only use that lappie for emails, but it's a decent little backup audio machine for small jobs. I always keep it updated with all of the software I would need in that eventuality.

Everyone is telling me to get on Fiverr, but the onboarding process is (from my standpoint anyway) a huge pain in the ass.
For example, they almost conflate Mixing and Mastering as the same thing. So they have a category called Mixing & Mastering. They're not separate, and they should be. The same person should not mix and master your project. Generally you want a fresh set of ears to come to the project, in a different room so it's easier to hear any issues.

There was a moment on Fox News the other day where Curtis Sliwa (Guardian Angels founder) was being interviewed live, and off camera some Angels "apprehended" a shoplifter blah blah blah. It turned out NOT to be a shoplifter and a US citizen, but I would bet BIG MONEY that Sliwa told his Angels goons to take down a brown person during his interview so he'd look good on TV, and to "legitimize" the guardian angels. Spent a few hours with a good friend. I feel a little better now that I did 24 hours ago. Still struggling, tho.
A friend might need me to do some mastering for him. He sent me some in-progress tunes over the past few days, and this is some super cool and super strong indie rock. Way cooler than anything I've heard in a long time.

2024 already feels like it is going to be a tough year for me and a lot of people. Even though my bad luck started in the last 2 weeks of 2023, it's close enough to be 2024.
I may be a negative nelly, but I think things are going to turn REALLY bad here in the US as the year goes on and we get into November, when that big event takes place.
I just hope we're all here to support one another in all the ways we can when the time comes.

@npub19y8…wxgj @npub18ss…05sy so are you saying you want to edit two sounds together and not have a click at the edit point? What editor are you using right now?
I think when you say antenna patterns you mean the Polar Pattern which on most microphones is called Cardioid. All it's telling you is that the microphone picks up the most sound from the front and the more you get off axis the less sound it picks up. For example if you talk into the back of that microphone it'll be much quieter than the front.

AUDIO PET PEEVE:
Youtubers and others who have side-address microphones, and talk into the top or the end like an SM57. I'm seeing one woman doing this, and because she has no idea where to speak into her mic, it's actually picking up more room reflections of her voice than her ACTUAL on-axis voice.
SO FUCKING ANNOYING.

I guess I just realized that there is a feature where you can choose not to see the boosts of people you follow. I get that.
I do tend to boost a lot of posts that express how I feel, so I hope I don't overwhelm people with those.
If someone has written something that exactly expresses how I feel, sometimes it's easier to boost than to write something out myself.

For example with police. They should be going for a completely different personality profile. Don't hire the macho ex-military types who can't wait to press the trigger. Hire highly educated thinkers, who will in fact THINK before they act.
But my guess is the thinkers won't want to be police for many reasons (pay, danger, whatever). But who knows, maybe some will.
Also maybe hire social workers to be police as well.
