The more I actually try to use Bitcoin Lightning, the more I hate it. I just want to send and receive digital shekels. All of this shit about channels, inbound/outbound liquidity, etc is a pain in the ass and gets between me and what I want. The fact that channels can arbitrarily get closed, leaving money in limbo for days is even more shit.
AlbyHub closed a new channel I opened after 13 fucking minutes... now I need to fund another one if I want my wallet to work, but I can't the funds in AlbyHub because they're too few and stuck in closed channels anyway.
I have an embedded node Zeus wallet on a phone with enough sats to do the job, but oh no! The channel's stuck as Inactive, and even if it does activate properly, there's too many zombie channels so any attempt at payment times out and goes nowhere.
I won't pretend Monero hasn't given me headaches and borderline heart attacks in the past, but it's got nothing on this Lightning shit. When it works well it works well, but just one piece out of alignment and it all goes to shit. Lightning fucking sucks, and I'm not willing to pretend it doesn't.

I was trying out CakeWallet's XMR Only wallet and saw the buy options included direct Fiat-to-XMR via an integration called OnRamper.

Listening to some of the brain rotten takes by trannies online about "hidden trans allegory" in Fate makes me think of an earlier proto-form of the same horseshit..."feminist readings" of classic literature.
One case in point, I believe it was Pride & Prejudice where two female characters were declared to be "secretly lesbian" because they would always accompany each other when they left the house... ignoring the reality that 1800s upper class women would do this for social etiquette reasons (ie. one of them going out alone might fuel gossip and scandal about secret trysts or affairs, to say nothing of the danger of a young, wealthy woman going out alone).
Point is, when you divorce a story from its historical, authorial, or any other context and then cherry pick details to fit the conclusion you want to be true, you can "interpret" anything to mean anything...its a pointless fart sniffing exercise.
tl;dr: Saber from Fate isn't a trans allegory of anything, they just didn't want a hairy bearded old man standing across the male protagonist, duh.

An Announcement Regarding アノニマスの見解 PeerTube
(TL;DR - public registration is open, no video uploading tho, also you can use Lightning to log in and Zap and shit now)
In the process of testing the features of the Bitcoin Lightning plugin, I opened registrations on my PeerTube server. After some consideration, I decided to leave them open, but disable video uploading.
On the one hand, I realize I have some reasonably good hardware propping this thing up, and using it all for myself seems a bit wasteful. On the other hand, storage space isn't cheap, and if I let anybody upload willy nilly I'll run out of space and either have to expand storage beyond my financial ability to maintain it, or just have to shut down.
Still, even without uploads, having the ability to make an account and explore PeerTube's so-called "vidiverse" has some value, even if it's only to subscribe, comment, like, etc. So anybody who wants to check out PeerTube as a viewer, feel free to sign up.
I'm also in the process of testing out Bitcoin Lightning support, and I think I have Alby wallet logins and video Zap buttons working. It seems pretty tightly connected to Alby, though, so idk if other wallets/browser extensions/whatever will work. We'll see how it goes:

@npub1ftj…pjju Yeah, the whole thing seems to lean heavily on Alby's API to work, and even though it says that other Lightning plugins/clients/etc are supposed to work, I'm having some kind of problem having it even recognize the Client ID/Secret that I've very clearly input in settings.
I'm giving it this week, and if I can't get it working or figure it out by then, I'm writing it off as non-viable.

Some Thoughts on SpendIt Finance
I was recently scrolling through Monerica (a very useful resource for XMR users, btw) and I ran across one of their sponsored additions... a service called SpendIt, hosted at https://spendit.finance
SpendIt advertises itself as "Your anonymous Visa prepaid card, funded by your crypto". It offers a service similar to several other outfits like Cake Pay Cards, CoinCards, etc. You send X amount of cryptocurrency Y, you gain access to a virtual prepaid credit card worth dollar value Z, and you spend it at the store of your choice (providing they don't require 3D Secure on transactions, which these kind of prepaids don't offer).
What struck me about SpendIt was how they allowed Visa prepaid card purchase with XMR and zero KYC. Bitcoin or USDT or some other transparent blockchain coin I'd understand, but it was surprising to me for any banking partner (in this case Pathward N.A. ) to sign off on giving anonymous credit cards to nameless internet ghosts sending dark money from out of the Phantom Zone.
I saw on their website that they had an affiliate program, so I decided to dig deeper. I asked some questions, assuming that surely their affiliates would need to provide some kind of ID, if only for payouts. To my further surprise, I was told that no ID was required, and that payout for affiliate earnings could actually be done in crypto. Which kind of crypto I'm not certain of, because I'd need to earn at least $50 worth before I could attempt a withdrawal.
(For the record, I do have an affiliate link from them now, and in theory I could use it to send customers their way and earn a cut. I'm not doing that... at least not yet, because I'm not convinced I fully trust this service).
"SpendIt" as a corporate entity is basically a ghost itself, that I can see. They claim to be a small startup headed by two people... "Martin" and "Louis", based out of France (even though their cards are in US dollars, and as far as I can tell are intended for US vendors primarily). Support emails from them were sent by a "Martin Leroux", who doesn't have any kind of history I can find in publicly available sources, save for a Reddit account with a 2 year posting history and some other account on a review site, just to list and claim ownership of his own business.
The bank, Pathward (formerly Metabank), has a bunch of ESG and Diversity shit on their site... not sure if just lip service or if they're whole hog into it, but it just makes this a bigger puzzle to me.
The utility of prepaid credit cards (as opposed to debit cards) is limited, I'll admit, so it's not as if this is a gaping hole in the financial system. But I have to ask myself how a business based out of the EU of all places can get away with this. If it's a legit startup flying by the seat of its pants, I can only assume some kind of regulatory hammer will come down on it eventually.
If it's a honeypot, though, I have to wonder what its creators could stand to gain from it. It's certainly true that an XMR prepaid Visa used to buy physical goods can be linked to an address via shipping records, but Stealth Addresses means even SpendIt wouldn't know the sender address of any XMR payments it receives, so there's not a lot of useful intel gained aside from "this person has Monero and is using it to buy stuff".
I'm holding on to this affiliate link to see if it pans out, and my concerns can be put to rest, but in the meantime... idk, I just want to keep an eye on these guys.

@npub1ftj…pjju I'm still leaning into a second theory that they wanted to expand Unity's telemetry and make it more invasive, and intentionally leaned into this stupid revenue plan to start a garbage fire so big it would overshadow the telemetry itself.
Then when they "apologize" and roll back the payment plan, the telemetry that would have enabled it stays in and everybody's too busy high-fiving each other to pay attention or care.
But I may be overthinking this.

This weekend, Streaming Saturday is doing something a little different. We'll be running through an under-construction Dark Mod level as we work in DarkRadiant to complete it. Not as exciting as a proper game, but decided more chill and laidback.

Why would Unity charge a dev for every time a third party installs/uninstalls their Unity game, though? Thay doesn't even make corpo-greed sense, that's just pointless. By that metric, you'd actually not want to be successful at all. You're financially better off not releasing a Unity game at all.

The DarkRadiant build stream idea is already paying dividends. Since I don't want to do map work that would take material away from stream day, I'm forced to spend my small handfuls of free time doing other scripting work.
I've already figured out how to properly implement video briefings, made a custom video briefing, a diagetic map of the target building for in-game use, and tweaked custom menus. If we can actually wrap up the bulk of the map work this Saturday, I could have a finished fan mission ready for testing inside of the month.

Regarding yesterday's STALKER stream, going back through my saves I figured out why I was constantly getting irradiated... I forgot I'd picked up a radiation emitting artifact from a Monolith stalker in Radar, and it'd been slowly killing me the entire time.
Sold it off to the Hawaiian in Yanov for enough money that even after the radiation treatment I still turned a profit.

My plans to stream from the event floor were foiled by the most predictable of issues...network is so shit, it drops the strsam every handful of seconds. "PeerTube Live" app doesn't support persistent livestreams, so its basically impossible under these conditions.

Presumably, this made PayPal freak out more and now their account has been zeroed, along with all the money in it

I tried like six times to beat the Cortex Reaver in a halfway normal way, and then when I just spammed it with EMP grenades and whaled on it with the laser rapier, it just sat there and let me kill it in under 30 seconds.
I still like System Shock.
