Rooftop sprinklers are expensive. Not everyone can afford the top-of-the-line equipment but everyone deserves to have a way to make their property safer. Here is a yt video with a DYI rooftop set up which seems legit. Of course make sure anything you build works well every time but this is worth a go.

I love my local hams. The mountains surrounding my area are burning, fires all over the place. Evac alerts and orders. The 2 repeaters that I can pick up at my location have been have antenna and equipment problems. This morning, our local ham tech person is at the top of the mountain furiously fixing all the things to make sure we have communications. I'm sitting here helping with radio checks etc. These people are amazing!

I don't have all of the herbs that she mentions here growing in my area. But I do have some of them and many others that would work as well. This gives me inspiration to create my own drinks and foods from the abundance around me. I can't believe it but I think I am going to have to light the fireplace. Don't think I've ever done that in June before. Cold blowing rain again today. There may be a number of plants that I need to re-seed or replace as well. We have had springs like this before but it does feel more sinister with all the various climate events going on in the world.

Oh my gods. That was glorious. Like a pinwheel directly overhead with a waterfall of light strands coming down 360 degrees. A stormy whirling centre, then pink strands at the top, pale blue in the middle, greens at the bottom. My daughter got some great pics I'll post later. I did not take photos... just drank it in like old wine. *sigh

I'm just seeing reports of a wildfire just outside Edmonton (Edson) that has ignited the Trans Canada natural gas pipeline. Huge explosion. Gas is turned off now, no one injured, but jeez. That is terrifying. Disaster can strike anywhere anytime.

It snowed all over the place in BC last night, not right here at my place but possible later this week. Lessons learned: keep those fragile seedlings double covered. Keep those chicks warm. Keep those snow tires on the vehicles. Take nothing for granted. While this is not that unusual for BC, our weather patterns ARE changing.

Last night we had an absolutely wild lighting storm with crazy hail that was bouncing off the windows. In some areas close by it went on for an hour. Never in my life have I seen more than one or 2 random flashes in the clouds this early in the year. Completely bonkers.

The crisis isn't having a homeless camp in your neighbourhood. The crisis is the lack of safe affordable housing to so many and more every day.
The crisis isn't the number of people transitioning. The crisis is the number of people driven to suicide because they want or need to transition in a world that doesn't want trans people to exist.
Those that centre themselves, their house, their town in the middle of any and all crises, are failing to understand or educate themselves about the underlying causes of harm and pain and how to mitigate them.
