If I post a github repo and it is forked with secrets, then that is my bad. If I fork someone else repo,commit something I wish I didn't and I can't delete it, then that is Github's bad.

I start with a greenfield app...no legacy code. I ask it to write a function, repeat. I've been using medium-sized context window models so usually the bot is unaware of the rest of the app and I wire it together and enforce design consistency. The result is a lot of functions composed together that have few/no dependencies on each other. I ask the bot to write unit tests in bulk.
It works really, really well for me & I've gotten several side projects to the decently finished stage

My vSLAM (Non-non LIDAR) #Roomba i7 works great. It's got personality.
- sends me pictures of clutter, which should be read in an indignante voice, "What is THIS?"
- actually cleans better than an upright because it has the patience to spend one hour cleaning 1 floor.
I think the bot has revealed that the carpet has been disintegrating and our old vacuum wasn't picking much up.

Lots? Which language? They all support running tests on file change, the challenge is running just the tests that need to be re-run. Pytest has a plugin to run fastest tests first, pytest-fast-first. Some unit test frameworks have file watchers built-in.

They want a copy of all the data. For orgs where the goal is to give anyone all the data they might want for any reason, usually there will be a bulk download file (big cached, compressed file). Orgs don't offer these, or if they do, the crawlers ignore them and just point the same stupid spider doing a naive crawl. Stackoverflow at one time served the google crawler a different version of the site for similar reasons.

When you ask a bot to write code to use an API you see what is confusing.
When a bot expects an exception to happen, it has no idea if it should quietly return a neutral value or throw an exception.
I think this is a language level problem as seen by the wildly different experiments:
- vb - on resume next, all errors are ignored
- java - all errors must be caught even if you don't know what to do
- c/c++ - all errors will crash as much of the computer as possible

Installed base is too large. But the fast parts of javascript let you compile any language to js (and it's modern variant wasm). And you can cross compile better languages, (typescript) to js. Especially with typescript, the tooling has improved a lot to compensate for JS's early defects.

Day 2 of roomba upgrade. I think iRobot can compete if they can give their bots personality better than the knock offs.
So far the bot is an upgrade from the random path-bot and did it's job, albeit getting stuck about 1x per day. Time will tell if it has a catastrophic failure.

idea- what if we encrypted .env files with the same cryptographic credentials that prove you have git commit rights? Sort of- they're coming at it from a different angle. They're putting bots (neural networks) into games with physics engine to generate tons of training data. Then when they set the robot loose in the real world, it performs really well. I haven't read about multimodal physics-language-vision-audio models, but if they can do language-vision-audio why not also physics. It all just really large matrices.

I don't sync and I don't feel I lose anything for it, but I also haven't tried. I think syncing is the (future?) business model which is fine, devs need to pay mortgages too. I mean, that is how Obsidian gets paid for their opensource, standalone is free, sync hosting cost $.
