I ask only because every lady and her neighbor ends up being an "extraordinary" minister of Holy Communion -- handling the Word of God in the Real Presence of the Eucharist.

This is a striking comparison of the old Traditional Latin Mass and the New Mass. It's not just a matter of Latin vs. English. It affects what we believe.

Logseq is the holy grail of note-taking apps for which I've been searching over the past 15 years.
I've used Evernote, Trello, OneNote, Joplin, Simplenote, Notion, and others. None are as fast and (most important) maintenance free as Logseq.
It's a great place to take a mind dump, as well as take self-organizing notes for meetings, to-dos, and anything else -- without having to deal with organizing files and folders. Ever. How convenient and fast and helpful! (Bonus: It is free and open source software, and is privacy-oriented -- i.e., uses plain text files not stored on the cloud.)
I have little use for it at my current job, but it would have been incredibly useful for other jobs I've had that required keeping up with lots of projects and details and meetings.
So I use it now for all the thoughts and ideas I have for writing articles and blog posts. It has become my "personal knowledge management" system.

One thing I would add from my perspective is I also believe Google and Facebook are not just evil because they're good at making advertising dollars off of us, but because they store incredible amounts of info on us and use it against us.
My understanding is that Google, for instance, gives us different search results based on our political leanings, etc. They have access to all our Gmails and Docs. They record our locations with time stamps.They provide 3-letter agencies with all kinds of tracking info, which is very dangerous depending on who's in power (whether now or in the future).
Google and Facebook definitely influence society in a bad way, foisting their "values" on us.
That's not to excuse what those with influence over TikTok are doing. I don't like any of the Big Tech players.

Interesting. I just happened to notice that most of the posts in a conversation I recently had here "cannot be boosted" (not that I was trying to). The "Boost" button is grayed out with an X through it.

Was he validity elected? Did B16 validly resign? Did Francis at some point cease to be pope due to heresy? Under what circumstances are we obliged to obey or disobey the pope? Will a future pope declare him an antipope? What can the good cardinals do? When will the "smoke of Satan" air out? How did modernism creep into the Church? How should we view the Second Vatican Council? ...
There's a lot being discussed publicly. We don't have firm answers yet, other than to trust our mother Mary and our Lord, who will bring clarity in time.
Meanwhile, if you choose to abandon the Church rather than fight for it, and become a so-called "Bible Christian," then you have no access to the sacraments, which are essential. You also end up losing the faith of our Fathers, the deposit of faith once delivered (it is obscured by this pope, but it is still held by millions -- consider all the Catholic bishops conferences in Africa, for instance, not to mention the growing number of traditional Catholics in our own country and around the world).
There is no salvation outside the Church. By leaving, you're showing a lack of trust in Jesus' promises and are risking your eternal life.
If my local Catholic parish went all gay rainbows with Protestantized liturgy and homilies, I would not go there. But that's not the same as abandoning the Catholic Church, the Catholic Faith. We have to remain faithful even if most do not. We can't cut ourselves off the Body even if the Church Militant has a bad head cold. That would be spiritual suicide.
Pray about this more and reconsider. Don't run and don't compromise the truth. Be brave and bold even when things look dark.

My experience is that it is better to rest in the Lord on the New Covenant Sabbath -- the Lord's Day (Sunday) -- because the Lord (and his day -- the "first day of the week") is the fulfillment of the Sabbath.
There is a danger in Saturday Sabbathkeeping, in that one can begin to think we are expected to observe that and other (or all) parts of the old Mosaic Law. Saint Paul was insistent that we not *go there."
While the Law brings us to Christ, we rely on Christ alone for our righteousness. Even Gentiles are saved by Faith in Christ, apart from the Mosaic Law. He expects us to keep the Law of Christ.

Karlo Broussard of Catholic Answers means well, I'm sure, but his answer at 43:01 to the man turned off to the Church by *Feducious Supplicans* was ultimately not helpful. Not surprisingly.
Obviously the document is written in such a way that it *can* be interpreted favorably by both saints and sinners alike, which is precisely what's happened. That "weaponized ambiguity" is what allows for the false view to gain traction and momentum without explicitly, officially teaching falsehood.
Karlo should have agreed that the document is very troubling, and for the above reasons.
He should have also emphasized that while popes and clergy may obfuscate or undermine the Church's teachings, they cannot dogmatically change them. And in time this issue will again be clarified., but in the meantime we must hold fast to the unchangeable Catholic truth already made plain -- and, with prayer and patience, resist any efforts to mislead us on matters of faith and morals.
I just don't need Catholic Answers to provide me with ways to make bad, bad documents salvageable. That only encourages the evil perpetrators by falling into their hands, those who want it both ways.

If an illicitly divorced-and-remarried (i.e., adulterous) couple asks a priest for a blessing as a “couple,” the unsuspecting priest will surely offer a blessing, because, unless it is revealed or discovered, their true marital status is not evident.
But if a good priest knows the man and woman are living in an adulterous second or third “marriage,” then he will not bless them as a “couple” (maybe individually). He will be quick to advise they immediately cease from their sin, repent, and go to Confession with a firm purpose of amendment.
That’s also how it should be with two people who sodomize each other. They can’t be blessed when presenting themselves as a "couple” -- only individually (to help their endeavor to repent). They can’t receive any of the sacraments until they repent and go to Confession.

It also related to their sacrificial system. That Mosaic ritual law (like circumcision, sabbaths, etc.) was nullified for the New Covenant people of God.
Sodomy laws (along with adultery, fornicstion, bestiality, etc ) are moral laws that always apply to all people everywhere. Just like not murdering or stealing.
Scripture says for men not to lie with other men "as with a woman" (Lev. 18:22). If this was to condemn only male rape, then it would make no sense to say "as with a woman." The context, same chapter, includes prohibitions against incest, adultery, and bestiality. These things are not just temporary cultural decrees.
Jesus said God allowed for divorce due to hardness of heart during Moses' time, but then said from the beginning it was not so. He banned divorce from that point on, calling us to a more rigorous and higher standard. If Jesus took a hard line against divorce, which was and still is ubiquitous, he surely would not cave in to unnatural acts of lust.
The pope has absolutely zero authority to change moral laws. He is not Jesus. The pope's job is to strengthen (not weaken) his brethren. He is charged with preserving (not reversing) the deposit of faith. He must hold fast to the faith once delivered to the saints, not submit to the woke spirit of the world.

But it's still not a loving act; even with just one woman, it is a mortal sin that will send a non-repentant person to hell. It's the same with the topic at hand, regardless of the number of men a homosexual might sodomize.
We should read the Bible according to how the writers intended its books to be understood. Sometimes (not always, but very often) that means literally. For example, it would go against the Gospel writers' intent if we were to understand the Resurrection in a spiritual sense that merely elevates Jesus' memory in our hearts. They clearly meant to express that His corpse came back to life and was glorified.
The Church defines dogmatically that a pope does not exercise the gift of infallibility unless he invokes his Petrine office to solemnly declares a matter of faith or morals to be believed by the entire Church.
The idea that anything he says goes -- that is a Protestant caricature of Catholicism. That's not what Catholicism teaches.

It's depressing to hear an old preacher friend of mine -- who was a very dear friend and mentor -- stagnating and even going backward in his theology.
He taught me so much. After 20 years, he should be older and wiser. But it seems he is only older.
That happens when you compromise for too long in order to keep a comfortable job. It warps your thinking.
I was in a similar situation, so I know it's hard. I left as soon as I could. If I had stayed, I, too, would have stagnated in my spiritual journey. I might still be advocating the importance of keeping the Hebrew Sabbath and holy days, and rejecting the triune God.

@npub1j8y…8jnz I don't know of anyone having an issue with St. Catherine of Sienna. But the writer's "paraphrase" of her thoughts are misleading because they imply St. Catherine would be in favor of the feminism promoted by participants in this synod.
The article's author would like to revolutionize how the Church is governed. In her words:
- Inclusion of women in all leadership/decision making processes in the Church.
- Attention to voices of lay people, both men and women. Silencing them deprives the Church of their significant contribution towards greater Participation, Communion and Mission.
- Substantial toning down of clericalism in the Church.
- Liturgical reform, particularly of the Mass with less emphasis on uniformity and more on creativity to draw us to God.
- Co-responsibility in the care for creation.
She promotes feminism, wants to amplify lay voices and de-amplify the clergy, and seeks "creativity" in the Mass -- all of which are a recipe for disaster.

Once forgiven of our sins, going forward we should not fear that every fault or sin makes God angry and quick to send us to hell unless we re-repent, as if we have an unsure, on-again-off-again relationship with a moody Jesus. (Of course, for our good and for the sake of justice we should repent of our sins daily. Jesus tells us to pray, “Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.”)
We need not have an ongoing anxiety attack, afraid God's finger is always hovering over the "smite" button. We know Jesus always loves us and will see us through this life’s journey.
But that’s not to say even a single “mortal sin” won't send us to hell. We should feel guilty if we knowingly and willingly commit a serious sin, and we should not feel settled until we repent and receive absolution. Mortal sin is the kind that is a full rejection of God’s grace, and it's how we choose hell unless we repent of it before we die.
For the Catholic, repentance of mortal sin includes going to Confession. It is Jesus’ gift to us, because he knows we are capable of mortal sin even after baptism.
Now if someone is a non-Catholic Christian who genuinely doesn’t know he should be Catholic and go to Confession, then he would need to make a perfect act of contrition, which is much harder. It’s the purest form of repentance which involves perfect sorrow -- not out of fear of hell or the loss of heaven, but purely out of offending God, who is deserving of all our love.
Today, on All Souls Day, let’s pray for all who have died — and for all those we love who are still living — that God would free all from the sin that separates us from him.

Two things I tend to do when I wake up in the middle of the night:
(1) I guess how much time I have remaining before my alarm sounds, based on how my eyes feel when I try to opem them. I amaze myself with my accuracy.
(2) I pray for whoever happened to be in the dream I woke up from, which helps me to drift back to sleep.

@npub1j8y…8jnz Jesus calls us to repent because he loves us and desires to save us from hell, which he preached about so much.
If we refuse to clearly identify sin the way Jesus and the apostles taught, then how can we repent, become a disciple of Jesus, and escape the fires of hell?
For the sake of our own immortal souls, we have to spend less time listening to the morally permissive world. We must have honest listening sessions with God's Word.
Getting caught up in the spirit of the so-called "synodal Church" puts eternal lives at risk. We have to be vigilant and stay Catholic.

@npub1j8y…8jnz My question is nothing like that. The scribes and Pharisees asked if they should *stone* the adulterous woman.
If you want to be like Jesus, who loved the woman enough to tell her to "go, and do not **sin** again" (John 8:11), then just answer whether you believe acts of sodomy are sinful.
(Rest assured that no one will think you're sinless or advocating for the killing of other sinners. I'm sure nearly everyone reading this has been guilty of sexual sin, and many of us have received the beautiful grace of forgiveness, which we want for everyone else.)

@npub19fy…n5nv Not all religions say that Jesus is the only name under heaven by which we may be saved -- which is the absolute core of Christianity. A belief system that contradicts this is incompatible with the world's largest religion.
"Religion" can't be reduced to the belief that "We should be nice to each other," because many atheists believe we should be nice to each other, too. It must involve who God is and what he expects of us.
The pursuit of knowing the true God and his will leads to the ultimate good. It's our one job. Belief in a fake god leads to futility.
Symbols and analogues are fine if we realize they are merely symbols representing that which is true.

@npub19fy…n5nv I don't deny there aren't any who feel happy with it. I'm just saying it is an untrue religion. And untrue never works for anyone.
Example: We'd never want to say an adult who believes in Santa Claus is just fine simply because he's happy with his belief. We would say the poor man is delusional or woefully misinformed -- not that his view is as valid as anyone else's. His untrue belief doesn't "work" for him.
Truth matters.
