Thankful to have found this corner of the Fediverse to connect with fellow awake folks. ♥ I woke up to a lot of the corruption in 2020 and haven't looked back since. I was regularly involved in Freedom rallies between 2020-2022.

While I still try to keep up with what's going on regarding corruption, these days I'm focusing more on personal development, personal growth, and spending time with those I love most.

@npub1jw9…ewak I completely get where you're coming from, and I'm with you in the sense that it's better to have freedom than have to deal with the censorship, it just sucks that free speech is so often abused. It seems like on the fedi you get a choice between two extremes; total chaotic freedom, or absolute censorship to anything that isn't a "protected opinion". Surely there must be some online spaces that have a balance between the two. Maybe I just haven't found the right server yet.

@npub15fl…y0y3 I just don't want to be banned or censored if I share something the admin considers a "conspiracy theory" or unpopular opinion about something some might find offensive. 🤷‍♀️ It feels like there's either two extremes on the fedi: absolute censorship of anything that isn't a protected opinion, or absolute chaotic freedom where nearly anything goes. Is there anywhere that exists in the fedi that has a balance? I have yet to find it lol. /2

I guess to me where I see Adam pointing out that that's the problem, and everyone goes on a rampage leaving the platform because of it, it sort of in a sense feels like they're defending it and seeking an alternative that enables them to do that. Idk. Maybe a free speech platform isn't what I'm looking for. Thought it was, but idk. /1

This account is riddle with brutal death wishes on jews. I'm all for expressing unpopular opinions and free speech, but this crosses way over the line for me too. Welp, sorry folks but I agree with Adam's points. I won't be migrating if the goal is to defend people who make racist death threats in the name of free speech. I thought more people had sense to distinguish those things as wrong, but if that's the kind of behavior people in this community are defending, then this is not what I signed up for. I used to think big tech platforms joining the fedi would be a positive thing, because it could possibly open the door to my friends and family truly discovering it. 100%. I hate big tech and gov 😖. The propaganda is so in people's faces it's amazing people can't see how blatant it is. But I guess folks have been conditioned by it for so long, many don't even notice it. I didn't even realize how bad it was until 2020. 🤣 I was part of the crowd that fell down a bunch of rabbit holes while stuck at home. Once you realize how bad it is, you can never unsee it.

Yeah 😞 it honestly feels that way. Just discouraging is all. I can't help but feel like we're all moving toward a breaking point at this rate. Full societal collapse and chaos incoming. People get so fueled up on hate, in the future it might become them norm for people to really hurt and kill each other here in the west based on the tribe they're associated with. Glad I'm moving off grid soon 🤣 far away from the cities.

I completely agree with that. I haven't been following the MAGA movement but my mom is pretty big into it. It seems like it's the same for everyone right now, and maybe social media has made it easier to tribe up, but there are so many groups that used to be seen as underdogs; feminists, disability, races, LGBT+, vaccination status, etc etc it's like every single category of people who felt like they were singled out at some point are rising up.

I could, but it's usually people who use that feature on me. 🤣 I have had what started as pleasant conversations with people, knowing full well we don't align on political topics etc, still being friendly with them. But as soon as they find out about my own views, I start getting harassed or they block me. 🙄 People can't just talk as people anymore. So many just want to associate only with folks in their own echo chambers. The hatred runs so deep, over everything.

I try not to, but it's hard some days. I could be having a pleasant conversation with someone about something completely unrelated to politics or what's going on in the world, and then said person starts digging around my social media, finds out my views on some things, and it's like a switch flips and they get cold. 🤦‍♀️ I just wish people could just be pleasant. 😅 Enjoy conversations for what they are, connect with fellow humans. Does anyone ever feel burnt out with how divided everyone is over everything? I know I do. It's frustrating. People are so tribalistic now, you can't even have a civil conversation with someone who has different views online. As soon as they realize you're not part of their echo chamber, they shut down, get mean, and want nothing to do with you. 🙄 This behavior is especially bad with the younger gens. Older gen is not quite as bad. Still bad, but not nearly so much as the younger ones.

It doesn't change my own perception, because I have personally witnessed many folks on the right treat the left the same way. If you choose not to see that, or simply don't perceive it that way, why should I try and convince you otherwise, or vice versa? What difference does it make? It doesn't matter to me if you don't agree. To me it's not worth wasting the energy over lol.

They do constantly. Rights make fun of the lefts and demean their intelligence all the time. I am part of a lot of right leaning circles, I see it regularly. The left does the exact same to the right. I may have more right leaning views, but I am not ignorant to see the way both sides collectively treat each other. Both sides are very tribalistic and have made a habit of screaming AT each other rather than talking TO each other; collectively speaking, with the rare exceptions.

Just like all the Simpsons "predictions" were never really predictions, they were plans, sold to the masses as fiction and entertainment, until it came to be reality. There are a lot of hidden truths in films. Sometimes I wonder if that's why certain shows or films get cancelled. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, for example, is such a huge parallel of our reality. Netflix cancelled the series, leaving it inconclusive due to production costs - or at least, that's what they're telling us.

Higher paying jobs often require a degree, which the cost of higher education is outrageous. Even then, many aren't getting paid fair wages there either. Wage strikes happen here fairly often here with medical and government workers. It's time to stop making excuses for a system designed to keep people drowning in debt and inflation.

I mean, is it REALLY any wonder? There's no incentive anymore when the cost of living is this high and you're always one paycheck away from drowning. Most single people do not make a livable wage to have a comfortable life or save for anything when the cost of rent, housing, gas prices, food, and inflation in general just keeps rising and wages increases don't even come close to keeping up with it.

I am really thankful for the folks on NAS. Everyone here seems pretty mature and level headed for the most part. I guess where I see it more is when I go to other instances. I've gotten myself involved in the indie web these past few weeks as well and am seeing the same trend from people there too. Maybe it's coming more from the gen Z crowd. Millennial and older gens might be more rational. 😅

I think the most disappointing trait I've seen in most who consider themselves "left" is the complete disassociation with anyone who doesn't aligned with their world view. I see it here in the Fediverse, I see it on the indie web. Politically I consider myself more center right, but I would NEVER try to censor or attempt to eradicate someone's online presence because they consider themselves "left" politically. Hard to see any possibility of unity when this is the norm these days.

Finally made the leap and put Linux on duel boot. Such a difference already, doesn't seem to be privacy invasive like Windows. What a difference! Not too steep of a learning curve either so far. Very happy. :) I got POP OS as I'd really like to eventually like to ditch windows altogether. Want to test how gaming is on here first.

@npub1k5w…886p The point of the video is that it was not that way long ago. Our ancestors lived in balance with nature, everything was free, we took what we needed, and put in our own labour to live. Somewhere along the line, corruption took over and started monetizing every aspect of our right to live. The birds do not pay money to live or put their nest in a tree. Neither do other animals. They simply put in their own energy and work together to survive in harmony with nature. 🌿

We have so much entertainment, and technology that's made things easy in a lot of ways, but we are paying such a high price now to simply exist. The way we're wired is so different than our ancestors who were in tune with nature. followed the cycles and created what they needed to live. It'd be nice to see a return to simpler times. Maybe technology could aid us in productivity but the simplicity of our ancestors could return, if possible

Signal and Telegram are big for privacy and freedom enthusiasts but has anyone ever wondered why both of those apps ask for SO many permissions? 🧐 The amount of data they ask for seems a bit unnecessary. I think they're just a couple more big tech big brother programs raking in people's data while pretending not to. Just my suspicion.

Is it possible to subscribe to users whose instance is on blocked? Reason I'm asking is because I know No Agenda Social is blocked on a lot of Mastodon instances, so I want to know if a friend that's on an instance where it's blocked could still see my content on this instance in their personal feed even though the instance they're on blocks it?

I can't see real big tech giants ever decentralizing, just ones that are already on the decline in hopes of reviving. It's too much for big tech to risk losing all that power and control. Once the majority of people get introduced to the Fedi and learn they can move to other servers freely and be free of big tech abuses, nothing's going to keep them there.

A few months ago, Twitter made it so anyone could get the verified checkmark. All you gotta do is give them your gov issued ID to "verify" it's you. Now Instagram recently started doing this as well...

#[0] What I don't understand is why people tell them they're going to do it. If they're going to expose them, for the love of god just expose them before they have a chance to know or do anything about it, don't tell them in advance and give them a chance to kill you. 🤦‍♀️

#[0] Agreed, except that no one was forced. We all had the same access to information, and people were spreading this info around like crazy, but we were discredited and called "conspiracy theorists" because we didn't follow the promoted narrative. People were pressured, yes, and put into difficult situations, yes, but no one was forced. Many chose to turn a blind eye, and many chose to give in instead of fight against it because giving in was easier and offered temporary convenience. 😞 Sad.

Anyone else seeing tons of "unexpected" or "sudden deaths" from friends lately? I feel like I'm hearing about them every week now, friends of mine losing loved ones left and right, all of them far too young to die. Very sad, and all could have been avoided had people just been willing to open their eyes and ears and listen to doctors other than the ones bribed by the #[0] and #[1] companies.
