There is a corner of "Travel YouTube" where there is no voiceover, just subtitles, and the occasional voices from servers and food/lodging hosts… and it's delightful. I notice my breathing and heart-rate slowing.

The more I use CarPlay the more I see how much it sucks. And while I think a lot of this can only be best with hardware buttons, there’s a huge amount of low hanging fruit that can be fixed with the existing software environment.
The number of taps to do simple shit is *insane*, and far worse than my integrated MMI which has 1-press hardware buttons for all modes, and a shallow but broad HW controlled screen system.

She made a lot of enemies of folks who wanted to do the right thing (in terms of UX/Research), but also wanted to be practical about it (ie, not try to solve societal structural problems first). Instead of meeting halfway, she'd stomp her feet and tell them they're doing it wrong, then wouldn't help them out.

@npub16u7…uend yeah. It’s because they’re increasing edge contrast artificially bs optically. The pixels captured on an iPhone are still potato-level if you zoom in, and this is meant to compensate. You can’t overcome physics with processing.
Personally, I’d rather less processing and a larger sensor. Maybe fewer megapixels. I think also, most people don’t feel that way.

There’s a rule of thumb that says there’s an optimal relationship between the front wall, listening position, and rear wall. You want to be 1/3 from the rear wall, and the speakers 1/3 from the front (assuming traditional ‘box speakers’).
Fun experiment: get your speakers at least 4-5 feet from the wall, and about 5-6’ apart. Stick yourself about 1-2’ in front of the speakers, dead centre between the two, and play your music that way.
It’s a very different experience. And it’s very good.

@npub1qw5…037m I’m not sure I like Dawson’s portrayal of Ahsoka. It doesn’t quite work for me, but I also can’t articulate why. Maybe it’s the detached broodyness. The character in Rebels changed and matured over the series, but Dawson’s portrayal doesn’t seem congruent to that.
Also this feels like if I didn’t already have ::all the backstory:: I would be lost or struggling to figure out why I should care about any of these people.
