Social platforms on the web aren’t inherently bad. Federated platforms don’t inherently ‘fix’ the problems associated with large corporate platforms.
The problems most people identify with large corporate platforms are entirely social, and have nothing to do with who owns them. It has everything to do about people in charge deciding that these social problems matter and should be solved for.
