We’re not talking past each other, you simply don’t understand that selling ideas is different to educating about them.
In any major tech company, behind the C-Suite, Sales are the best paid individuals. Not engineers or devs, not enablement (education) - sales guys.
If education is all that was needed, why don’t they just provide abundant free training on their solutions? Why don’t these companies just wheel in the brilliant devs to sell their products? Why pay expensive sales people at all?
Because a specific skillset is needed to persuade people on emotionally charged decisions. And any time there is big money on the line whether it’s someone’s savings in Bitcoin, or a budget which spent poorly could cost a job - this skill is imperative.
Education isn’t the problem. Knowing who your audience is and how to communicate ideas persuasively to them is.
But I guess devs can just keep trying the same thing over and over again and expect to get different results. Should work out fine..
