"Apple quietly introduced code into iOS 18.1 which reboots the device if it has not been unlocked for a period of time, reverting it to a state which improves the security of iPhones overall and is making it harder for police to break into the devices, according to multiple iPhone security experts.
On Thursday, 404 Media reported that law enforcement officials were freaking out that iPhones which had been stored for examination were mysteriously rebooting themselves. At the time the cause was unclear, with the officials only able to speculate why they were being locked out of the devices. Now a day later, the potential reason why is coming into view.
“Apple indeed added a feature called ‘inactivity reboot’ in iOS 18.1.,” Dr.-Ing. Jiska Classen, a research group leader at the Hasso Plattner Institute, tweeted after 404 Media published on Thursday along with screenshots that they presented as the relevant pieces of code."

The best first step in my view to change this is to make sure that we have a financial system that benefits everyone.
In other words, if inequality is baked into the system, which it 100% seems to be, the best we could do currently would be to have a financial system that allows the very poor to benefit from the capital of the very rich.
Bitcoin is the best mechanism for that. True financial fairness. Everybody wins. The very rich wins, the very poor wins.
And that's already a great first step I would say :)

Interesting.. the construct itself is inherently human, but in my mind it's still a false equivalency because the CPRs themselves are not the same. Mastodon is not a fishing hole; bug fixes do not naturally replenish.
On the other hand, I just flipped back through the marked-up margins and found a note I wrote, "commons are not just goods, they are interests." So perhaps I am being too simplistic and inflexible!

When it comes to understanding history, I listen to multiple groups and go with what seems more probable. The rabbis have their version and this guy has his. Problem is, neither side is impartial. If he was honest, he should debate Adam instead, as he is known for discussing these topics in a friendly manner even with those who he disagrees with.

"At the end of October, Tor directory authorities, relay operators, and even the Tor Project sysadmin team received multiple abuse complaints from their providers about port scanning. These complaints were traced back to a coordinated IP spoofing attack, where an attacker spoofed non-exit relays and other Tor-related IPs to trigger abuse reports aimed at disrupting the Tor Project and the Tor network.
Thanks to a joint effort from the Tor community, InterSecLab, and the support of Andrew Morris and the team at GreyNoise, the origin of these spoofed packets was identified and shut down on November 7th, 2024.
We want to reassure everyone that this incident had no effect on Tor users. While the attack had a limited impact on the Tor network - taking a few relays offline temporarily - it caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience for many relay operators who had to address these complaints. Although this attack targeted our community, IP spoofing attacks can happen with any online service.
There's still work ahead: we need to support relay operators in getting their accounts reinstated and assist providers in unblocking IPs for Tor directory authorities."

То, что делают какие-нибудь Iwayado и Yoshino Mingei — это буквально шедевры, которые можно из магазина везти просто сразу в Эрмитаж. Сказать, что они сделаны безупречно — ничего не сказать.
Но там и цена для Эрмитажа, а мне нужен был буквально просто стол на кухню, прямо вот почти любой.
И судя по тому, сколько народу я встретил в магазине с крепежом и материалами, запилить себе стол своими руками — довольно популярная история даже в Токио, во-первых ассортимент магазина просто прекрасен, а во-вторых — народ прямо толпами шастает, вымеряет, и выпиливает.
Полагаю, что в остальной стране это ещё более развито.

My Saturday so far:
5am to 9am - work
9am to 10.30am - walk dog
10.30am to 11am - remember I forgot to have breakfast, eat way too much and then put myself off lunch
11am to 2pm - scrub house
2pm to 2:30pm - shower, brush teeth, realise Secondborn has used all the hot water
2:30pm to present - put the new Cure album on, have a bit of a sit down, realise living room is still a tip. Sigh.
