I was recently diagnosed with ocular migraines/ migraines with aura. (I'm okay.)

@npub1ay4…xka6 Exactly! If the goal is open then the default should be open to everyone, otherwise, we're just another flavor of a walled garden. Beyond that, the choice is personal (individual or server level).
There are people out there making the best decisions they can with the information they have. The #fediverse has an awareness problem, and as long as we move carefully and thoughtfully, this is a huge opportunity to further the cause.

So if you don’t want to connect with Threads, don’t. If you disageee with your server admin about their plan, leave. That’s the whole point.
