Not missing, just not wanting to acknowledge or see.
I was born Lutheran, flailed around and attended synagogues, drum circles, magick rituals, baptist conventions, et alia and returned to Luther. I converted to Catholicism so that I might find unity with my wife.
Subjectivity and "perceptual truths" whether they be faith or any other matter are never agreed upon. It's easier to demand dominance than compromise and seek communion.

What I understand of his sermons, Beatitudes, and parables, he'd be a strong socialist or liberal. His ideology was fairly coherent.
As I watch Christians argue about "What would Jesus do?" and explain that their version of Jesus doesn't match my version of Jesus, I look at the scripture, I look at them, I look again at the scripture.
What am I missing?

I'll be honest, I've still been reticent to use Flatpaks and Snapd as much as I ought to.
When docker-esque and container behavior becomes part of OS apps, I wonder whether we've taken the paradigm too far?
I like the original design of apps as directories with forked binaries, properties, and resources that Apple first attempted before orphaned plists became the norm.
Keep it simple. Apps reside in a directory, no rwx outside itself except for OS operations, and data internalized.

Given how poorly behaved some MacOS apps are at properly maintaining and cleaning up their plist debris, I actually wish MacOS followed this same convention of sandboxed apps and app data.
Leaving Registry Data (Windows) or Property List (Mac OS) orphaned after app deletion is simply messy "80's style" OS operation.

I was born in 1972.
Three generations of my family served, from WWII, to Korea, and Vietnam, so of course I served during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
How odd it is to read about various engagements today, whether Ukraine/Russia or Israel/Hamas, and not think about our own history in the United States.
Each generation truly does NOT understand lessons from the one before.
We each must learn on our own, picking our own battles, and protesting others.
How unfortunate that we never learn.

I'm thankful to Johns Hopkins for surviving my battle with Stage 4 Mantle Cell Lymphoma.
My oncologist was from South America.
My bone marrow donor was from Europe.
My medical team was primarily European, African, and Filipino.
Hostility to immigrants is most certainly a matter of Life and Death for many of us battling cancer.

I could write novels or an encyclopedia set about how Ableist the United States is.
Took three years of chemo and radiation for Stage 4 Cancer to teach me the US is most unkind to anyone but the able-bodied.
My use of a wheelchair and assisted walking showed me how few ramps, doors, restrooms, and basic consideration of others there really is.
We redid our house to accommodate my lifestyle changes. Not even housing is kind to anyone but the Abled.

When you have 3 separate lockable restrooms, why gender them at all? If you're an indie shop with a couple employees and maybe seating for 12-20, what is wrong with a "Restroom" sign and leaving further descriptors or adjectives off?
2 Queens and 1 King just made me scratch my head and wonder what math or attribution went into that restroom assignment.

Here locally we have an indie game shop that has three one-person lockable restrooms. Two are marked Queens and one is marked Kings. It has the chess symbol over each word.
I waited a half-hour for Kings to free up, but it was busy.
I knocked, found Queens unoccupied, and I was happy to be Queen-for-a-Day. I deprived no adult or child of the bathroom while I occupied it, scarred no one.

My first thought when the deleted photos re-appeared on my wife's iPhone was that Apple uses the same technique for "deleting" photos that they also use for deleting messages.
The photos are merely "marked for deletion" (flagged) similar to record deletion in some DBMSes.
Messages on iPhone and Mac marks messages for deletion, but they appear under "Recently Deleted". Only after 30 days does MacOS and iOS do garbage collection to actually delete flagged messages.

I've had this debate before.
It always involves a demographic that doesn't feel the derogatory word applies to them.
"Washington Redskins" was fine, debated, and handwaved by thousands of light-pigmented local residents with no Native American history or identified culture.
My family makes this same argument when I talk about narrow-minded and bigoted word, and the counter with "but the dictionary says..."
