Here's a German word I appreciate more and more I recent years: Handgemenge.
It means "a brawl", and it's part of a popular pun format here on fedi (perhaps elsewhere), where one person starts a pun, the the other warns them not to continue, and the first finishes the joke anyway. The format ends with the word as a stage direction of sorts.
I know it from childhood, because it was introduced to me via another thing virtually unknown outside of Germany, the Midgard role-playing game.

The thing is, he's wrong. He's almost certainly got an undiagnosed hidden disability that his kids inherited. They suspect it of one of the kids, and it's pretty clear which parent it's from.
The Nazis would have put them into camps.
But that's not something he sees. And that's how these things happen.

Slow day today (cold season caught up with me).
I caught up with the last few episodes of Season 5 of Lower Decks today, and when the baddie was revealed, my brain immediately recalled the name and what the dude was in TNG.
I exist in a superposition of "a fan" and "not a fan" of the show, and collapse into fandom in those moments. Most of the time, not so much.

Going back to the *problem*, untarring in the wrong directory, neither code is necessarily good.
1. Where you did this, there is an entry "foo".
2. The tarball contains an entry "foo".
If you overwrote "foo", your original file is lost. If you didn't, you'll lose it after deleting all entries contained in the tarball.

Any other, similar experiences? Someone got banned for calling Rowling a TERF, me for calling a AfD-adjacent person a Nazi (that was years ago).
I get the feeling their mod practices have been rubbish for a while, but the recent cluster of issues suggests something new. Can we collectively watch this?

"Everyone has days like this" is something I hear a lot. With respect to kids melting down, what they mean is maybe once every two weeks or so (when they're young), as opposed to ten times a day.
It gets a bit more complications than that with other stuff, but that's a lot to do with attributing "normal" things to a disorder.

Whoever designed BER airport clearly did not consider the flow of people in their placement of staircases.
From the trains, people getting to departure must cross paths with people coming from arrivals.
It's pretty much a given that the majority of people in a rush will go to a plane, because missing a flight is way worse than missing a train that comes every 20 minutes or so.
So why...? Is the aim just to piss people off more, after everyone has been hating BER for decades already?
