You simply create your filter code, send it to the kernel via the SO_ATTACH_FILTER option and if your filter code passes the kernel check on it, you then immediately begin filtering data on that socket.

have you tried /ssh:host:/path instead of scp? I know that scp is generally deprecated! The actual OpenSSH release notes say: "The scp protocol is outdated, inflexible and not readily fixed." virtual machine shares its /gnu/store with the host, your new VM takes up far less space than you might expect! On my system, the disk image is just 2MiB! Really miss the #homemanager util on #guix
where i could just manage all my dotfiles with it in $HOME and could just give the #nix profile path in bash in init , I had nearly nothing in /root/.config* and never cared about whether to source .profile or .bash-profile based on how i append my list of pkgs in home.comfiguration ( fwiw source the former when you append with specification / (output?) in scm) .
Case in point after a couple of baffled days , i now realize that my #nyxt config had no error ( how could it , it was working just fine elsewhere) , its just that it was fetching it config from * , while i had it in ~/.config/nyxt
Quick and dirty way was to just copy the latter to the former path of finding the config
similarly emacs-pkg were listed in config.scm, but they could only be found by $USER and not $ROOT
yes nix exprs need not eval below a minimum version , bit that s not my immediate concern

Where #NixOS has Modules that are enabled and disabled through attribute sets in the system, #Guix has System Services which provide a more structured way of assembling your system.
System services are bits of self-contained logic that can "extend" your system in some way. They usually do this by providing extensions to other services. These extension points can be thought of as hooks. A few illustrative examples: the "user account" service provides an extension to add new users, the "shepherd" service provides an extension to add new daemons to the system, the "activation" service provides a hook to run code when you "start" the system. This mechanism is open, so you can write services to extend existing services, as well as write services which provide extension points for other services.
On the whole, I think the abstraction of system services makes it a bit easier to reason about the final system than NixOS's "big ball of merged modules". That said, I think NixOS's modules have had more development time put into them, so it's more likely that you can find a module that does what you want and enable it with less fuss. Guix's services are bit rougher around the edges, so it's not always as obvious/trivial how to get things working.

Each has to go big or go home. Its a scary path for everyone

as a sophomore\ ug at one of the most reputed colleges in my country, with a full time experience of that job for 2 years at 2 other bigger enough companies in same field, i walked into many part time job openings , which could have helped . Nobody cared. I booked a loss on the pursuit and the profession itself. at that time , i couldnt figure out for my life, what went wrong.
Much later , i d realise , that i d skip the to avoid the labyrinth of interpersonal biases, profession and gruelling process ( maybe) i d never mention the UG part ( the reason why my college was reputed) , college offered many other courses but they were not revered as much in that profession , i had enough communication skills to deliver at my job , but not enough motivation to get there for the sake of management. Management d rarely give me an opportunity to even demonstrate the former.For them the latter was more important.

If it was a realization of a lambda calculus, then it is one with (a) primitives, (b) strict evaluation, (c) quoted lambda terms, and (d) "dynamic" bindings.
(a) In classic lambda calculus, everything is a lambda term. McCarthy's Lisp has primitives like lists and numbers. However, it is known that lambda calculus is powerful enough to encode these things as lambda terms (for example,
null = (lambda (n c) (n))
(cons a b) = (lambda (n c) (c a b))
gives a way to encode lists. The car function would be something like
(car a) = (lambda (lst)
(lst (lambda () (error "car: not cons"))
(lambda (a b) a)))
This would not work in the original Lisp because of binding issues: the definition of cons requires the specific a and b bindings be remembered by the returned lambda.)
(b) Lambda calculus does not have any evaluation rules. Rather, it is like algebra where you can try to normalize an expression if you wish, but the point is that some lambda terms are equivalent to others based on some simple rules that model abstract properties of function compositions. Lambda-calculus-based programming languages choose some evaluation rule, but there is no guarantee of convergence: there might be two programs that lambda calculus says are formally equivalent, but one might terminate while the other might not. Depending on how you're feeling, you might say that no PL for a computer can ever realize the lambda calculus, but more pragmatically we can say most languages use lambda calculus with a strict evaluation strategy.
(c) The lambda terms in lambda calculus are not inspectable objects, but more just a sequence of symbols. Perhaps one of the innovations of McCarthy is that lambda terms can be represented using lists, and the evaluator can be written as a list processor (much better than Godel numbering!). In any case, the fact that terms have the ability to evaluate representations of terms within the context of the eval makes things a little different. It's also not too hard to construct a lambda evaluator in the lambda calculus[1], but you don't have the "level collapse" of Lisp.
(d) In lambda calculus, one way to model function application is that you immediately substitute in arguments wherever that parameter is used in the function body. Shadowing is dealt with using a convention in PL known as lexical scoping, and an efficient implementation uses a linked list of environments. In the original Lisp, there was a stack of variable bindings instead, leading to something that is now known as dynamic scoping, which gives different results from the immediate substitution model. Pretty much everything fun you can do with the lambda calculus depends on having lexical scoping.
All this said, the widespread belief about Lisp being the lambda calculus probably comes from Scheme, which was intentionally lambda calculus with a strict evaluation model. Steele and Sussman were learning about actors for AI research, and I think it was Sussman (a former logician) who suggested that their planning language Schemer (truncated to Scheme) ought to have real lambdas. At some point, they realized actors and lambdas (with mutable environments) had the exact same implementation. This led to "Scheme: An Interpreter for Extended Lambda Calculus" (1975) and the "Lambda the ultimate something" papers. Later, many of these ideas were backported to Lisp during the standardization of Common Lisp.

list variable list is itself the cons at the beginning of the list. (cdr list) is the second cons in the list. And so one with (cddr list), (nthcdr N list). Generally speaking, a member of a list is a cons (value . next-member-in-list). Most of Elisp is built around these (CAR . CDR) double pointers. You can even construct binary trees with it.

The latter is perhaps the more and most challenging part with a huge political risk , they need be protected and financially secure and more rigorous a body with integrity than sec ( sry no good governance examples that i could insert here), need ensure and enforce the quality of education to all

nostalgic
that's one of the first thing I got after getting my hands on emacs , i didn't even need tmux ,zsh,tty back then. Didn't even know what nixos is.
what fascinated me was, how I got rid of server #rent and html/css/lamp/sql yeda yeda , whatever my intern boss asked me to do and sacked me when I didn't
it just worked, didn't go very far too metaarpa is still periodic payment , last I checked
fwiw, it got me in to emacs , in my rookie way

Yet if some nutjob crusader , runs a donation like model , it can succeed, because some people believe in earning their rights or greater good , in a right way.
examples, snowden, sci-hub, anna-archives for books, piratebay.
Yes at times those things go horribly wrong - megaupload, silk road .
Then again, their is no royal road to claim your rights and it can only be done collectively and co-incidently

@npub1fzx…t6h3 heart of the matter is , when can most data on web be linked in some form to fediverse index, which doesn't belong to any single party and how far do designs to prevent such a coalition can go, to get an effective fedi search engine to anyone.
If any one party controls the index, It ll be hard for me to see it different from CCP
