In my experience, building managers/management companies don't want to do anything about stuff like that unless it's a problem for multiple people living in the building and everybody complains about it unfortunately.

@npub1v7z…d59r Yeah, Character limits make those delivery instructions fields not very useful sometimes. I don't think amazon has anything like that anyway. When I was living in an apartment building drivers would call me on the phone sometimes, which was mostly fine. It was at least better when they'd leave stuff out on the sidewalk in front of the building and I had no idea it was there unless I constantly checked the app to see if things were delivered yet.

@npub1v7z…d59r Tell me to get lost if you're not looking for suggestions. I know some companies let you include delivery instructions in your profile. Is including a description of which building to go to in the delivery instructions an option for any of these companies?
I can't see what the apartment manager would be able to do about people being confused by the layout of the buildings, except maybe putting up some kind of sign in front of the buildings with the address number in a very large font.

Tom Metzger openly said after his trial that, and this is a paraphrase, "We're in your police departments. We're in your military." Government and civic institutions in the US did not take that threat seriously.

There was some anti-nazi messaging before we entered WWII but the posture of our government toward the nazi party was hardly antagonistic, and some US corporations were just fine working with them. Bringing nazis over to work in government positions post WWII didn't signal a particularly stringent opposition either.

When people post things they want to be searchable, they will use hashtags because hashtags are set to be searchable by default on Mastodon. I declined to share an article earlier about the role of neuroplasticity in blind people’s ability to listen to and process speech at faster rates because the article explicitly invoked the deficit vs. super power framing. This shit is absolutely pervasive in pop science explainers of almost anything to do with disability.

Framing ppl's varied and variable abilities as deficits or super powers is entirely about exploitation. If you have a super power, you're seen as more exploitable and thus more useful to capital. If you're seen as having a deficit, it's into the dumpster with the rest of the less exploitable ppl where you'll be mostly forgotten until you're pointed out to scare more exploitable ppl into continuing to use themselves up to benefit capital.
This framing is applied to disabled ppl all the time.

I’m curious about whether others find themselves being more critical of types of media that involve the creator becoming as much of the product as the thing they’re creating, e.g. movies, tv, music, and standup comedy?
I’m still critical of books but it doesn’t seem to me that the authors themselves become part of the product to the same extent, unless you’re the type that follows all the authors you like on social media. I also feel like there’s not as much celebrity surrounding authors.

My lightning to 3.5 adapter wasn't working so spent 45 minutes unsuccessfully looking for the lightning connector EarPods I'm pretty sure I just used earlier today. Going to have to spend money to replace one or both of those things.
Not sure if it was the universe's sense of humor to make me both extremely ADHD and also blind but if so I think the universe can go gargle fucking thumbtacks.

Not sure if the admin/moderation there has gotten better since it started up, but it was a bit of a shitshow at first. If I remember correctly, several instances that host a significant number of marginalized folks decided to defederate from that instance.

The materials used to make headphone cups these days are fucking terrible. Really kicking myself in the ass over that time a friend of mine was moving and getting rid of a bunch of Senheiser and Sony headphones from the 80s and shit and I didn't snatch up a few pairs. The passive noise canceling on those fuckers was spectacular compared to most models today, at least the ones I can actually justify spending the money on.

Did some stuff around the house today and read a lot.
Finished Walkaway by Cory Doctorow. Took me almost two months to finish this one because I hit a reading slump in the middle and also parts of it felt like they needed to just bounce around in my brain for a while before I kept reading. Ended up liking it a lot.
Started Gothic by Philip Fracassi. About a quarter in and it's holding my attention so far.
