Baked cupcakes for Husband to bring to hockey practice tonight. He's 50 (🥳🥳) today but since he's head coach, he can't skip practice. I made chocolate cupcakes with marshmallow frosting. Don't faint from the surprise but I #baked tonight. Decided to do the same chocolate sandwich cookies but with peanut butter frosting in the center. Used brown sugar instead of dark brown I had to use last time. The cookies seem crunchier with the light brown. There's still cookies to be made so no photos. Later. My friend's son danced in nationals last week in NJ & was awarded generously for his accomplishments but I thought it should be celebrated at home so I baked him a cake. Apparently Husband was still awake when Kidlet came home & was told what happened. It was a card game they were playing similar to truth or dare & this was one of the cards he pulled. He asked Husband if I was mad that he called so late. Husband reassured him that moms never mind their kids calling, regardless of the hour, especially to hear loving words.

We only lost two trees in the storm yesterday which is surprising because it was windy & I heard branches going down all night. A neighbor lost a flagpole but I think that was more from the ground being saturated than the wind. The photo below is one tree on the ground behind the house. The other is in the woods so nature will have to deal with it.

I'm feeling not great. It's definitely just a run of the mill headcold though & for that I'm grateful. Slept a fitful 6 hours on the couch, earning a 66 sleep score on my fitbit. I was up at 2am and took 2 Tylenol for the sinus headache that was trying to bully its way in. That helped. My throat is lightly sore & my eyes feel puffy. No fever or cough. I have a feeling that I'm going to feel much better tomorrow.
Today's plan is tea, rest & maybe a short walk outside later. The sun is out!

Yesterday I took a rest day. Today I walked for 35 minutes outside in the snow. NGL, it was cool. But I'm no where close to 7k steps but my body told me it was done so I came in.
It's been a "lazy" week for me. It's hard to get 7k when I'm not going to the office or the food bank, both of which rack up steps pretty quickly. Hit my 7k only twice this week. I only did 1 day of weights, 1 rowing & 2 of pilates.
I'll be back to kicking ass next week.

I need new jeans. I have an out of proportion body - petite frame (5'2"), tiny waist, huge ass & thighs comparatively- so finding jeans requires planning & a tranquilizer. Usually I can snag a pair or two out of the food bank's donations but I've looked for awhile & I can find anything that fits.

@npub150l…r96e Before I gave up gluten I'd have IBS daily. Finally it got so bad I asked my naturopath what would cause it & she suggested the dietary change. It still occasionally comes & goes, mostly stress & POTS flare related. I was given a prescription for an opioid of all things to help with it but I'd just rather deal with the shit & pain than take that crap.

Chilly 40 min walk outside in yet another cold & gray January day. Got pelted by a bit of graupel. Too warm for snow, too cold for rain. My heart rate spiked up to the 170's for no reason after about 12 mins in, but I took a few deep breaths & it calmed right back down. I know I'm not going to pass out & it's just my nervous system attempting to assert itself. Like, settle down, asshole ANS. I was literally just walking on flat pavement. Up next: #yoga stretching.

Symptomatic tonight. Pain in my upper back/neck. Tried stretching and heat. Nope. Can't get warm. Nerve pain sparking in my hip. It came & went so suddenly I jumped. Lol. Today I'm considering a rest day but I got a 20 minute walk in late this afternoon & thanks to that, got my 6000 steps in. It was 22°f & cloudy. Winter in New England. Photo is what the little brook in the front of my house looked like. Getting icy, but water still flowing. A couple of inches of snow blanket the sides. I hate winter but I appreciated the quiet that bitter cold brings. No one outside making normal warm weather noise. Gave thanks, then warmed up inside.
