It took almost 4 years before the bats decided to move into the bat house we put up. It's 15 feet in the air and out in an open area away from activity . Was told that is normal so do not be surprised if yours stays empty for a long time.
They should be leaving shortly as it is getting dark here. Hard to count but I'd say at least 15 to 18 roost in it now. Appear to be Brazilian free-tailed bats. Also known as Mexican free-tailed bats.
They moved in shortly after hurricane Ian passed through and survived Milton a few weeks back.
Thinking of putting up another one.

I like that name, Worrycane. Left the generator setup in the workshop and shutters on outbuildings and bedroom.
And we are also watching the potential storms too. Do not want another one!!!!!

I remember one episode where apparently George discovered that his long ago ancestor Fred owed 20 clams and the amount with interest was some astoundingly high amount.

Some of us males also can run into issues. I was born overseas at Johnson Air Force base in Japan which no longer is there. I spent a good bit of time chasing down how to get a certified copy of my birth certificate so we could get passports . All I had was a copy and it was almost illegible. If anyone else has a similar problem it's not a traditional birth certificate it's called a Consular Report of Birth Abroad AKA Form FS-240. Here is where to go to get one.

Someone I listen to at times is Johnny Cash. you reminded me he had a song about polluted water. Took a bit to find but I found it. listened to it now listening to the Ballad of Ira Hayes.
Edit, remembered I like the Hazel Dickens version better. Now driving the poor wife nuts with bluegrass.

I never was able to go to one of his concerts. That was mostly during what I call the blink, a time when I worked almost as many over time hours as I did regular. I actually exceeded regular hours a few years. Was good money and appreciated now that I am retired but man I had no life !
Ever listen to Jason Isbell? He has quite a few songs that resonate with me.

This group and the school board races caused many of us who were independents and democrats to switch parties so we could have a say.
It's not just Desantis's picks we have to watch out for . Michael Flynn is trying to stealth takeover ours and adjoining counties. His sister was one of the the candidates for the hospital board and he had irons in the fire in other races.
