With Invercargill's current and immediate past Nats not exactly being shining examples of political acumen (the one is stumbling from one embarrassment to the next, and the other is only notable for having boiled Jamie-Lee Ross's bunny) it could be wide open next election.

Land Information NZ hosted a couple of webinars this week and showed us the new functionality in their basemap service at https://basemaps.linz.govt.nz. Thanks to much of the country now having LIDAR data (and a bit of fudging in the gaps with 20 metre contours) they've now got a smart new 3D terrain map.
The problem is, sometimes the LIDAR has been processed to show the underlying ground level, not the above-ground structures...

I actually see quite a few people mowing lawns wearing earmuffs etc. so there's obviously at least a little bit of PPE commonsense filtering through to the sheds of Aotearoa. It would also make sense to mask up if, e.g. handling potting mix for any length of time after the reports I've seen of airborne pathogens growing in it.

@npub1w6n…fx6t The first place I'd go would be Papers Past https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz and start searching for his name as an exact phrase. If that brings up hundreds or more results, then search for " "His Name" Kapiti whaler " as "all of these words". If neither of those searches bring up any results, try searching for " "His Name Kapiti" ~20 " as "all of these words" - that will bring up all articles where his first and last names and the word Kapiti are within 20 words of each other.
