Let's say I click on a link from a search and go to a site and it is either paywalled (and I'm never gonna pay) or it is SEO enhanced bullcrap site that offers only sadness.
Is there a button I can click with ublock origin to say "block this site", and in fact, do not render links to this site in future, so I am never tempted to go there ever again?
A one-click "banish site" to banish that site from my plane of existence.

Naive questions about #foss and #floss
When I worked in corporate software we used tools to scan our software (static source and runtime behavior analysis) for things like OWASP top 10 violations on web apps, web apis, mobile apps, and desktop apps. And CVE scanning for dependencies, although that was less automated
1 - who does this for open software
2 - do open tools exist to automate this, ours were expensive corpware
Not talking about lint, but like Fortify (which recently enshitified)

I don't understand why #PWA (progressive web apps) aren't more prevalent. But then I'm not a web dev.
Is it really that much more difficult to provide? Is it more work than developing a totally separate native app for Android and iOS in addition to your web site??
When I first came to #fediverse I found these were the best PWAs I'd seen. I still use the #mastodon PWA instead of any app. I feel like the other #fedi software has de-emphasized #PWAs. Having parity between web and PWA is great.

I can understand why, if you meet monetization goals and are making money on #YouTube, why you'd not want to dilute your viewership with another platform like #PeerTube if earning is your goal.
But until or unless you get monetized (which isn't easy), I can't understand why you wouldn't *also* post on an ad free platform like PeerTube to promote yourself, at least until you start making money. Until then, your viewers are only making money for YouTube and enduring ads in order to watch.

A #fediverse web interface akin to #fediwall but scans for media posts and then filters for audio (only) and allows you to play resulting posts like a playlist. Plays newest to oldest by default, but also random play. Displays the post being played like a preview card with previous and next post in carousel or playlist view. Favorites filter as well? Allows hashtag filter and defaults to #myMusic and #musodon ? to fetch the original music posted by accounts.

Hopes dashed. In setting up my new (to me) PC, installing old music plugins, I was hoping to cull bunch of stuff like VST2 and AAX versions I don't use... move everything to VST3. Hard!
Old tracks using VST/VST2 and no way (I can find) to transfer configuration to VST3 versions without laboriously transcribing all settings.
Also difficult to scan proprietary #Cakewalk projects to find out all plugins used (and versions) ... so it is case by case.

Can you imagine being an auteur of any kind (filmmaker, musician, photographer, painter, writer, etc) and a fan of yours *wants* to experience your art but cannot because the studio/label/etc has not made it available to them in any way? Must be infuriating.
At least independent artists have control over what they make available and how. But we struggle to find an audience.
There *needs* to be a way to connect independent artists of all kinds with audiences. A hub that matches up interests.

I really want to see #PeerTube succeed. But I don't see many videos slide across my #mastodon feed. It feels like PeerTube videos don't achieve wide federation.
I think this is because people don't follow as many PeerTube accounts and because PeerTube accounts don't post as often as Mastodon or other microblogging accounts.
Consider this... there isn't much downside to following all PeerTube accounts that you come across and boosting their posts *because* they are few and infrequent.

I *love* scrolling the global feed and using the translate feature here to read Chinese or other posts.
However, I often have a hard time understanding what I'm reading.
Makes me wonder how much of it is 1 a lack of cultural context 2 a poor translation 3 something else?
It seems like those posts lack many @ references (friends) or replies. Due to fewer numbers of people posting in those languages? Something else? A true data analysis would be interesting.
