Solar PV is booming in Poland too: installed capacity grew by a factor of 10 in just four years!
The 2 GW mark was reached sometime in 2020, and the 20 GW mark was probably reached this summer.

Many 'we need growth/degrowth' statements and discussions aren't very useful since they define (de)growth as a change in GDP.
But the exact level of future GDP is not the point. It's what we get for it:
Spending more and more of even a growing GDP on climate adaptation and repair leaves less and less for basic needs and nice things.
It's those that we need to keep track of, and how they are distributed.

June 2024 was warmer globally than any previous June on record: average 1.50°C above the estimated June average for 1850-1900. Beating last year's all-time high for June made it the thirteenth month in a row that is the warmest on record.

The coalition's headline agreement stated that the climate goals (emissions -55% - compared to 1990 - by 2030) will be upheld. However, some measures announced by the outgoing government to achieve that will be scrapped, while no new measures were announced.

Unbelievable solar PV numbers once more.
585 GW should be good for ~700 TWh/year. That means new solar alone can cover the full growth of global electricity demand now. And that together with wind, it can push down fossil electricity with its emissions, despite demand growth.

More than 4 GW of solar PV capacity was added to the Dutch electricity grid in 2023, taking the total solar capacity to 24 GW. Last year, solar PV was good for 1/6 of all electricity generated in the Netherlands; this year it will certainly be more than that.
42% of total capacity is on residential roofs. The other 58% is on roofs of larger buildings and in 'solar parks' on the ground.

The Netherlands has an obligation for companies to take energy saving measures with a payback time of less than 7 years. Large energy users had to report on their measures by 1 December 2023, but 4.5 months later, less than half had done so.

Based on daily values, the April average of atmospheric CO₂ at Mauna Loa was 426.5-426.6 ppm. That's a big jump of ~3.2 ppm from last year's 423.35 ppm!
It's also the highest CO₂ concentration the world has experienced in 14 million years.
