Many 'we need growth/degrowth' statements and discussions aren't very useful since they define (de)growth as a change in GDP.
But the exact level of future GDP is not the point. It's what we get for it:
Spending more and more of even a growing GDP on climate adaptation and repair leaves less and less for basic needs and nice things.
It's those that we need to keep track of, and how they are distributed.
