Something I've noticed in news reporting is that when they talk about more guns coming into private hands in violent places overseas, like Somalia or Afghanistan, it's referred to as "arms proliferation." When news reports cover the surge of guns sold in the US, they talk about "gun sales" or "guns in circulation." I worry that we're sanitizing what is happening with our euphemisms. Guns sales are arms proliferation no matter where we are, and arms proliferation=a more dangerous place to be.

My mother would cut the bottom off Pringles cans, put my little arm through one to the elbow, and tape it in place. Every night at bedtime. I had to sleep like that as a little kid so I couldn't bend my elbow in my sleep. My older brother slept with the Pringles can taped on his arm as well.

@npub1ulm…hweg I think it depends on your institution's ranking and where you placed your last 2 or 3 articles. What works for profs at top 50 law schools does not seem to work for most of us at lower ranked (or unranked) schools. I'm always disappointed with the placements I get in the summer cycle. BUT if you wait until Dec-Jan, a FEW journals do a special quick=decision exclusive-submission window, and I fare better with those. My theory is that far fewer authors are submitting then.

In law & economics we'd probably call this path dependence. Also, if you're really talking about administrative or bureaucratic behavior by courts, Herbert Simon is the writer to look at. Whatever term he used is probably the convention now.

@npub1ulm…hweg I liked on the other site being able to hover my cursor over the name of people in replies and have a little pop up that showed me there profile description and give me the chance to follow or unfollow them right then. Maybe there's an app for using the site that does this? One little inconvenience here is reading long threads, and noticing a thoughtful contributor, I have to leave the thread and go to their homepage to find out who they are and follow them.
