Batch #2 is looking much better than the first one. This time, I used a purpose-built mold that we cobbled together from some scrap wood. And I lined it with freezer paper (not wax paper!). Now I just have to wait 4-6 weeks for the soap to cure.

This over-the-door, shoe organizer is the best method that I've ever tried for organizing seed packets. The pockets are clear so that you can see what you have. It's easy to grab a single seed packet instead of hauling out your whole collection every time you want to plant one thing.
(I don't buy all of my seeds from Baker Creek but they do have the most colorful seed packets out there.)

You don't have to speak in the third person!
Addy is referring to your NIP-05 verification. I'm still learning how it works myself and I only use Primal right now. It might not work for you on Amethyst. What worked for me was to copy my lightning address into my Primal profile where it says "NIP-05 verification".

Bok choy growing in my mom's hoophouse. This is the 'Bopak' variety from Johnny's Seeds. It's a hardy green veggie that can withstand freezing temperatures without too much damage.
If we plant bok choy in the fall (September in zone 5b) it will stay good for many weeks in the hoophouse during the winter. If we plant bok choy in the spring, it will grow very fast and then bolt as soon as warm weather comes.

I believe that I did set up my own node in Alby Hub. I have the Alby browser extension plus an Alby Hub lightning wallet with a spending balance and a receiving capacity that I opened with my own sats. For whatever reason, I thought that was needed to use Primal/Nostr. I'm still learning every day here.

Well, I'm not on the carnivore diet but I don't think they would be allowed. I just try to eat mostly homegrown and/or home cooked foods. Cook from scratch with minimal processed ingredients. It works for me.

These sprouts were started from organic ginger roots that I bought at the grocery store. It takes 1-2 months for the sprouts to get started. I will keep these plants indoors under a grow light until the weather is reliably warm outside (around mid-May). Fresh ginger root will be ready to harvest at the end of the season; before the first frost. I could plant them in the ground, but they grow pretty well in a large pot, so I'll just move them outside in the same container.

Have you tried growing the Apricot Zebra tomato from Baker Creek? I am typically disappointed by the more flamboyant tomato varieties, but this one was really good!

I grew two types of sweet potatoes this year.
'Beauregard' is an orange sweet potato that has been the standard in my garden. It only needs 90 days to produce a good crop and grows very well in zone 5b. The tubers are set in a clump right under the main stem which makes it easy to dig.
'Murasaki' was the new one that I tested out in 2024. I really like the flavor of this creamy sweet potato. However, it was somewhat of a challenge to grow. I had it spaced at 12" and it should have been closer to 24". The tubers were set very deep in the ground and they spread out from the plant. Hard to dig them without slicing a tuber.

This is the flower of a carnovorous plant known as 'Drosera capensis' or Cape Sundew. They are a moisture loving plant that is possible to grow indoors under a grow light. Use distilled water or collected rainwater for them since they will not thrive on tap water.
The benefit of keeping these plants indoors is that they will trap and eat the little fungus gnats that are always flying around the seedlings that I start for the garden.

Well, I'm not sure exactly how your system operates. Generally, for a hydroponic system, I assume that you have to mix a package of powdered nutrients with water. Then add the basil seeds to some type of substrate that holds them close enough to touch the water without drowning them.

I use this Kratky hydroponics set-up to grow lettuce indoors. The thin plywood rests on an Oatey standard tub box (from Menards). The 2" grow cups hold rapid rooter plugs that are suspended above the nutrient solution. I can fit 9 plants per box. The lettuce grows incredibly fast! This photo is just 20 days of growth after seeding.

My little flock of 3 hens are currently penned inside of a hoophouse for the winter. This keeps their run free of snow and it is easier to keep their food dry and their water unfrozen.
The downside is that with the chickens in there, the plants are covered with a thin layer of soil from their frequent dust baths. Oh well, I didn't have much growing in there this year anyway.

I'm going to grow all of the typical storage crops that do well in Michigan: onions, garlic, potatoes, cabbage, butternut squash, tomatoes for sauce and sweet potatoes (the Beauregard variety only needs 90 warm days to make a good crop).
New to me will be a special type of cantaloupe from Johnny's Seeds: Sugar Cube F1. This variety produces personal size melons that taste great! I've never grown it myself, but my mom has had success with these plants in the past.
