I'm not going to defend any AI companies here, but this calcgpt.io is disingenuous.
GPTs are not calculators - they are giant hash tables with lookups that are not deterministic and we've know this for a while now.
The likely thing here is a near-neighbour approximation. I've tried it with 1+1+1+1. I got 3, 5, 4, 3.33333333..
But it's not a calculator - it's a chat request to a GPT so the response will always be text and never a number.

One of those odd differences I've noticed when working with US companies vs European ones:
A lot of US companies have a 90 day email retention policy, designed to help companies "shred" documents so that eDiscovery requirements for lawsuits are harder (I'm sure there's some valid InfoSec reasons too).
Meanwhile, here's me on a quiet day deleting old emails from 2022 because I finally have time.

@npub16u7…uend This is why the underlying interoperable formats are the most important thing. We've chosen to go with Contentful as a headless CMS and while we have to build tools that reflect that choice, in the end if we decide to switch the *data* is just JSON and can be migrated to any other future system. Same with RDF - in fact here we've had different vendors for the same job and been able to move between them relatively easily.

It's a bit of a heavy read on holiday and I couldn't quite grok it, but from your description you make some clarity - life assembly doesn't require a specific set of preconditions other than a certain amount of repetition - where you see that, then it suggests that the further conditions for life are possible (hence why humans are humans, dogs are dogs, insects are insects, etc)

I'm both cases, with infinite probability - what if we have "life" all wrong - we assume sentience in these cases? But what about basic conciseness + life, how could we spot something the universe has decided to try differently?
We so far have only one lab, and even then we're not entirely sure how it works.

First world dilemma: Phone renewal is up and I would have just gone for the Pixel 7 Pro - but ugh Google.
I'm not a huge fan on iPhone but I mostly use OSX these days and there's a "why not" factor.
I have a Oppo just now because my Pixel 6 Pro screen cost just as much to replace, but it had other issues too, but it's slow and camera is nowhere near as good.
