I'm not going to defend any AI companies here, but this calcgpt.io is disingenuous.
GPTs are not calculators - they are giant hash tables with lookups that are not deterministic and we've know this for a while now.
The likely thing here is a near-neighbour approximation. I've tried it with 1+1+1+1. I got 3, 5, 4, 3.33333333..
But it's not a calculator - it's a chat request to a GPT so the response will always be text and never a number.
