In an effort to make downtime more predictable, we are going to institute a regularly-scheduled maintenance window on #DisabledSocial beginning on Saturday, March 9. We will do our best to keep the window at the same time (8am Eastern / 1pm UTC - be aware that the UTC time will change during DST).
Please note: this does not apply to urgent security updates, which we try to deploy within 24 hours from release. We will continue to provide advance notice about both scheduled and urgent downtime.

Two car rentals in the past five months.
Two different rental companies.
Two times I arrived with a confirmed reservation with hand controls, with the e-mails to prove it.
Two times I spoke directly to a person in accessible services just days prior to my confirmed pick-up.
Two times I have arrived and been told, "oh, uh, we don't have a car for you.”
I'm really tired of this. Hertz and Avis have disability services, but they.... don't actually do anything? How are they still this broken? 🤬

Looks like we're back on #DisabledSocial. We actually completed the maintenance almost an hour ago, but our DNS provider (Cloudflare) has been having issues.
If you see the downtime notice again today, please know that it's just Cloudflare's issue and once that is completely resolved, everything on our side is all good!
If you wish to check the status: https://www.cloudflarestatus.com/ (we depend on the Dashboard/API to do maintenance)

@npub19dj…n6qc @npub1pwt…sn4y are you able to search for hashtags when logged in? We haven't explicitly changed or disabled anything. If you're able to search hashtags when logged in (which should work - seems to work for me), that may be an interim solution.
As far as enabling Elasticsearch, it's something we've wanted to do for a while. Unfortunately it's not just a simple config option to enable. It requires a significant technical lift, and potentially adds cost to running the server.

Aaaaaaand we're back! #DisabledSocial has been updated to the most recent version of Mastodon (v4.2.1) and we have doubled our database capacity, which should help with the occasional recent outages.

The instance will be taken down for up to two hours, tomorrow, Saturday, November 11th, 2023, at 8:00am Eastern Standard Time. Hopefully it will take less than that, but we usually plan for a two hour downtime block just in case something unexpected comes up.
We will be updating Mastodon and expanding disk space on the database server.
