No Mow May is a thing in the USA to.
But I strongly advise in the UK to make it No Mow May, June and July.
Extend it by at least another month. We had some great wild flowers this year, the lawn looked like a proper meadow by end of July.
Added bonus is that it stops the cats doing their business on the lawn.
You can also mow strategic parts around the edges and paths through the 'meadow' so it looks managed.

We are 2 months away from having coal free electricity in the UK. Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station closes on 30 September, the last train load of coal has already been delivered.

There has been a lot of discussion about solar farms taking up food production space in the UK.
But this hides the fact that 62% of crops in the UK are grown to feed animals, that includes for pets as well as livestock.

My smart meter display has changed and I couldn't work out why.
It had just green, amber and red sections.
But now it has a grey section as well.
Just worked it out today that is for exporting electricity!
The indicator would go into that area if I had solar panels or a battery that exported to the grid.
Took me a few days to realise that 🤦

No.
I mean that the Q number which is the ratio of energy input to the energy output ONLY uses the thermal energy output.
It hasn't done anything useful.
Q is what all media and fusion scientists refer to in 'progress'.
They should include a ratio for commercial useful energy (electricity), that would put the Q number into perspective.

Please be aware that this achievement (and other fusion achievements) are far smaller than the media and scientists suggest.
They refer to the Thermal energy production ONLY.
Once you factor in the losses that WILL occur if commercialised then the achievement is absolutely tiny.
So add even more time and effort than what they claim. Or just assume it will probably never happen.

Yeah my spreadsheet is a ledger really.
I enter credit card spends into it as they happen. Then when I pay off the credit card bill I know all that spending is accounted for.
When I first started with the spreadsheet I did consider entering the card bill payment instead of each individual use of the card, but decided that was a stupid idea.
I need the detail of individual payments in the sheet.

Another way of controlling your finances is to set strict limits on your monthly spending.
I use a spreadsheet.
It's organised so that each column is my monthly spending and income. I have set it up so that spending are additions.
At the bottom of each column is the sum of all spending for the month.
I also have a calculation to estimate how much I am predicted to spend in the year based on the monthly totals.
It's all updated every time I add a spending figure.
