No Mow May is a thing in the USA to.
But I strongly advise in the UK to make it No Mow May, June and July.
Extend it by at least another month. We had some great wild flowers this year, the lawn looked like a proper meadow by end of July.
Added bonus is that it stops the cats doing their business on the lawn.
You can also mow strategic parts around the edges and paths through the 'meadow' so it looks managed.
