Good points. I'm pretty resilient that way, actually. I can initiate conversations easily and don't get butt hurt if someone doesn't want to talk. That's not why I don't really go out.
My husband is a field service engineer, and we travel to his field at least half the year. We aren't home. I'm in hotels and on freeways and in restaurants all the time out of necessity. So when I'm home, I'm HOME. Peopled out. But still disconnected.

True. I'm a terrible homebody. I built a home gym so if never have to leave for exercise. But this little street has people walking dogs and such all the time. I COULD force myself to go for walks in lieu of trying to find a whole community in one building. That's probably a better answer.

I just realized something HUGE.
I thought I wanted to try to find a church, if it wasn't too dogmatic, for the purpose of establishing community connections. There's one not far from the house, and they podcast their sermons. So I listened, to ascertain whether or not this might be a good fit. That's the setting.
First thing the pastor does is pray. In public. To me, you might as well be masturbating in public. It's PERSONAL. It grosses me out. I'll never have a church.

The exercise thing can be rough if moving hurts. I find that if I at least stretch, it opens up my circulation and endocrine and I just feel better. Obviously you'll need to be paying attention to your injury... don't overdo it... but whatever stretches you could handle right now. It releases some nice dopamines!

It's a journey, man. But it sounds like you've headed down the better path. Just stay on it, and you'll reach your goal. I won't pretend to know how challenging it is for you. I birthed four babies, and I gained too much weight with each one, so I've had to lose, like 30 - 50 lbs after them every time. I guess TECHNICALLY you could say I've lost about 150 lbs, but it's not the same. Still, I do understand the self-control involved. It's not easy. You're kicking butt!

This is CRUCIAL. We will be digging it out our whole lives if we mean to ascend.
First, we must define terms. "Holy" and "common".
"Common" is what we frequently encounter. It's typical. Everyday. "Holy" is sacred. Hallowed. It's reserved for what we revere.
A life well led will see a lot of intersection. Marriage is a huge example. But you have to choose wisely or there's nothing holy about it. I personally find singing to be both holy and common. What are yours?

I read a LOT of neuroscience papers. YES, they can explain a great deal. They know when you're hungry, and when you're full. They know when you are sleeping, they know when you're awake. How much of a stretch is it to know if you are bad or good?

See, and I live in rural Alaska... spent 6 years in a dry cabin FAR off the grid. Had a baby there without docs/nurses/midwife. I've lived pretty free. Nobody ever stopped me from rejecting all municipal services, or from hunting/fishing/foraging for subsistence. That's probably why you're chafing from government, and I'm willing to accept that they are imperfect but the most probable human social organization.

For instance, I'm female, and quite aware of my physiological disadvantage. I recognize the necessity of entering a partnership with someone who can protect me if I'm threatened. So, maybe from this vantage point, I'm in a better position to see how alliances form by necessity, and from there extrapolate that govs are inevitable

This assumes that just because you and your friends don't form governments with militaries that the group over the ridge won't. Groups will ALWAYS form, leaders will ALWAYS emerge, and there will ALWAYS be conflict.

Well, the most obvious problem you fail to see is how to you propose to field a military, and compel everyone who "uses" it to pay up? Without threat of violence, don't you think there will be free riders? Alternatively, you can forgo a military, and be annexed by a neighbor who has one. Assuming you have anything worth annexing.

You are correct that much is privately provided, but, crucially, publicly funded.

Again, with all its evil, statism is the alternative to globalism. Those are your realistic choices. Anarchy is not an option. Groups will always form, leaders will always emerge, and there will inevitably be conflict. That combo naturally evolves into a form of statism. Ideally, states would be small and not too powerful. I think centralization is more the problem than statism.
