unlike Yoda, I think it's important for folk to try, regardless of whether in the end they do or they do not do whatever it was they set out to do.
it is good to try. I hope the folk involved do not let themselves be convinced to stop trying.

it's going to be our control panel into scheduling the lineup of what to show on our television network.
it's flexible enough to do all the things we anticipate wanting to do, and adding capabilities later will be very approachable, as the media pipeline is nicely segmented and there are numerous points to intercept the stream and modify it in various ways (think overlay graphics or "going live to breaking news")
it doesn't take a team of dozens or hundreds and a million lines of code in a tech stack thirty layers deep to build a web app. don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise.

there's no authentication system - it's intended to be hosted internally, not publicly, and be a "one person at a time" kind of workflow anyway, for the most part (although there's nothing preventing folk from working with it in parallel, there are no allowances for collaborative use yet)
it's not at all fancy - I'm not a ui designer, but it does the things it needs to do in a presentation I believe is reasonably easy to navigate and operate for its target audience.
it's not a swiss army knife, it's a set of custom tools for making one thing happen, and as many things as there are that I want to "fix" about the "codebase" it's doing the things - I can get around to converting bits and pieces into self-contained web components later.

the media asset manager and scheduler for New Ellijay TV is comprised completely of a single hand-written web page full of modern-ish html and css and javascript supported by a handful of php scripts providing an api for the data stored on disk as flat files and a sqlite database, with no build system or framework or required dev tooling stack (I've been using vim with no plugins) and honestly at this point you couldn't convince me to touch a react or an angular or what have you for any good reason.

for the record, I emailed jimmy@heymaven.com when I saw your post and checked out their T&Cs. I informed him that he was violating my content licensing by scraping the toot-lab and gave him a reference link to my shadow profile on their service, and that if they persisted in misusing my posts I'd have to look at legal remedies, and he just replied and said he has "removed the data and will work this week to prevent future ingestion. Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience."
so, super annoying and mega-manual opt-out process, but the profile page pretending to be me is indeed now removed.

Microsoft Recall creates a high-resolution detailed data set of what it looks like when you use a computer.
it is not a huge leap to anticipate the release of a function to have copilot generate a you-trained bullshit machine to offer to users that can "take care of tedious tasks like email" with their personal style et cetera.
now they're one cloud storage solution away from sense//net personality constructs of the absolute worst quality imaginable.
the whole thing stinks as-is and there's nothing that can improve it other than dismantling it.

we have a world full of wonderful musicians here in the #fediverse these days and it's delightful.
what I'd love to see is the addition of a world full of wonderful venue operators, people who are hosting shows featuring diverse artists on a regular basis, hanging in the fediverse as well.
then we could set up a nice little #fedicircuit to easily connect musicians looking for some bookings with venues looking for new acts to bring to town.
y'know, people connecting with people to make good things happen without a bunch of intermediaries making everything a pain in the ass.
