I sometimes wonder if economists are intentionally or unintentionally completely clueless. No one seems to be discussing or analyzing the fact that the resumption of student loan payments in the US will result in an unpredictable and fairly intensive negative hit to the economy. Depending on the scale of the hit, this may impact the world economy at large (because things are interconnected).
Pausing student loans was an effective economic stimulus. It's ending soon. This will have side effects.

@npub1qhe…y00q Well, I mean the good news is that it seems like disclosure helps? If neurotypical folks are informed about neurodivergence, then the bias drops down to nothing.
Awareness, training, and all that good stuff seems to help push the bad stuff back. It's just that we're in the extremely early days of these efforts. There's a neurodivergence civil rights movement, but it's extremely young right now. There's so much to be done. I want to help somehow, eventually.

Really thinking about whether to disclose or not to disclose the fact that I'm autistic at an upcoming interview. Anyone has any experiences in doing this (positive or negative)?
I may need accommodations, and I also don't want to work at a place that's just going to fire me when they figure out that I'm "somehow different". I can't keep going through that - I'd rather just stay unemployed than deal with that stress again.

Ah shit. My birth certificate request is being held hostage in Texas, because trans. My brother's ex stole my actual birth certificate, and now I'm in this mess of a situation.
Thankfully my mom can make a request with my deadname, I think, but wow - shit is really hitting the fan in the States right now. My heart goes out to everyone in the community, stay safe out there!

I still mask up and I am thankful to everyone else that does as well. The reality is that the pandemic has not ended, and for people in high risk categories (like myself and my partner), the pandemic has become quite a bit more dangerous because no one is masking.
